Wilfried Zaha - Sold to Crystal Palace

Everton and Fulham's respective league forms will have little to do with whether he goes there. The Moyes connection suggests this would be a good thing.

Yeah, Deulofeu is injured which makes me think it could be a possibility to have a short term loan with Zaha (which i think would be possible, as i'm sure the limit on loans is 2 long term loans from domestic clubs is the limit) until Gerard is back.

I don't think Zaha is good enough yet for us either but he would be a good option to have coming off the bench which he'd be doing, but you'd rather he was playing week in week out so a lower PL club would be better for him (He should have been loaned straight back to Palace for this season IMO).

What I'm wondering is why Moyes didn't accept Holloway's request to give Zaha another season at palace, no point having him here this season if he's going to be behind the likes of Young and Welbeck in the pecking order. A January loan is a good shout.

I think Moyes wanted to evaluate all the talent available to him, thus keeping the likes of Zaha and Fabio, yet barely using them as they turned out to not be ready. He recently said he now feels like he has a good sense of the squad and his 'evaluation' period is over, which would follow.

What's the plan with this kid? Not a peep from him over the busy festive period, should loan him out to another Premier club but I'm still of the opinion he can't be worse than any of our other wingers.

Looked incredibly out of his depth when given a chance. Should be nowhere near our first team at the moment, it's just not good enough to carry him.

Which was when? The Newcastle game or the 5 mins he got vs. Villa? Not been given a fair crack of the whip IMO. I was always of the impression he'd have played a greater role based on pre-season, same with Januzaj, Moyes was reluctant with Januzaj at first but now look. Don't think Zaha will take to First Team football as well but I don't think he's as negative as Valencia.

Would have loved to have seen him today, someone who would whip it in from the right with the side of their foot would have been a pleasure to see.

I dont have a clue whether he is good enough or not, he's only played about 150 mins combined, but surely though he can't be worse than Valencia? Oh, he doesn't offer the same defensive stability... If we were good at going forward, varied play and created chances more often we wouldn't need these "defensive" wingers in the first place.

Next two gamess are both cup games, so I think he could get a start in both of them.

If Zaha should be "nowhere near our first team" then he really must be bollocks, considering we are so poor in attack from the wide areas just now, except for Januzaj.

Valencia is blasting his crosses like he's taking a shot at the opposite corner flag, Young is doing okay right now, but he will always run hot and cold, Kagawa looks uncomfortable wide left, Welbeck is simply a runner out there, and Nani is Nani.

He's been given 8 or 10 minutes on very sporadic occasions, which just isn't enough to do anything with. Give him a start in a strong team and let him have a go, otherwise we'll never know.

I forget we even sign him at times, he cost us fecking £15m.

Time for Zaha now? A bit of unpredictability and raw pace and athleticism? Young is injured, as is Nani, Kagawa has done nothing from the left flank in his Utd career and if Valencia starts against Swansea I'll cry.

He can't be that bad. Give him a chance, Januzaj on the other wing.

Young out, how can he not get some game time now?

The situation with Zaha has been really odd. He looked decent in pre-season, albeit raw, and our wingers have been pretty dire this season. If something hasn't gone on behind the scenes, then he must be looking really poor in training.

It's strange because he still does far too many tricks despite the fact his overall game isn't all that bad, his passing looked quite good whenever I've seen him play. The first think you'd expect someone to say to him is stop trying the stupid tricks at every opportunity, it's one of the reasons people describe him as raw.

he has looked pretty darn decent for the reserves - he is more than good enough to be given the odd chance

We need to throw him in the deep end and let him improve with matches. We have the cup competitions as a chance for him to be involved. It's the only way for him to develop the ability we bought him for. We're missing Nani and Young now so it's surely his time to get a look in. Valencia clearly needs more competition and we're already expecting too much of Januzaj.

Had we let him go on loan back to Palace for a few months he'd be well used to the challenges of PL football

Can't believe his lack of opportunity - hope he gets some time tomorrow

He looked fantastic for Palace last season and was certainly impressive for us in preseason

Apparently Ole wants him at Cardiff, would be very good all around IMO. Give him to a manager with connections to United but also still in the premier league so he gets a good development. No doubt that he'll get plenty of playing time as well if he did. He was player of the year in the championship last year, so he should be more then good enough to play for a lower premier league club, even if he isn't ready for United.

The problem we've had with Zaha is that he's been frozen out of the first team this season, and when he's been given opportunities, it's been in tough circumstances and out of position.

Okay, I think we'd all like to forget about his community shield performance. But you can't just let the boy miss weeks and months of action, and then just throw him in the last 20 minutes of a match that we're drawing or losing and then play him on the left wing and be surprised when he doesn't perform well.

He needs to start matches and really be given a chance, and he needs to play in the position that he's used to playing, and the position that he was playing on tour, on the bloody right wing. The last couple of matches I've seen him come on, he's played on the left wing, so it's no surprise that he hasn't excelled.

And yes he does need to cut out the tricks. Don't get me wrong, In no way do I want him to cut it out completely because that's who he is. But he needs to gain some real confidence playing in the premier league before trying to play in an audacious manner, he needs to learn how the premier league works and how much better the defending is than it was in the championship.

I have no doubt that there will come a time where he will perform with ease and use his style to get past defenders, but until he becomes truly accustomed to the premier league, he needs to cut it down a bit. Not completely of course, but he doesn't need to use it at every given opportunity, and when he realises that, he'll become a much better player.

I remember Nani telling Bebe "to keep it simple" and that advice should apply to Zaha too. We don't want to change him as a player, but he needs to learn that you don't always need to play fancy, and hopefully when he realises that he'll go on to be a player.

The issue with Zaha is that it sounds as though he's weak mentally and conducted himself unprofessionally at Palace. If the manager and the coaches don't think he's ready then it'd be unfair to just throw him in. That happened with Bebe and look at his reputation now.

I'm fairly confident that its a case of him not being ready to shoulder any responsibility on the pitch just yet but he needed to be around the club and players to settle in properly.

Has to play some part today in my opinion. Really need something different and he brings that.

He's wasting his talent. Look at the impact Januzaj has had, maybe Zaha could do the same on the right. But no, he should be happy with maybe making the bench.

Or maybe it's as simple as Januzaj being a much better player than Zaha?

Hopefully Zaha will get some game time in the next 2 games and we can judge where he's at but from what we've seen so far (albeit very little) he doesn't look close to being ready.

Cardiff and Ole would be a good fit if we choose to loan him out.

He should start today with our injury crisis. I really hope Moyes starts him. He's a good player.

Indeed. Something really doesn't add up. He was our best performer pre season... Even with that team being mostly reserves, it showed his level was higher than the under 21s. He even started in com shield, evening looked like he would be a regular in the squad.
Something must have happened, I know there were those rumours, which I didn't believe at the time but with him being frozen out, along with the poorly leaked stories about his mental resilience to being at man utd... doesn't add up

I don't think you can compare. Januzaj looks mature when he plays and already mentally developed to cope with responsibility. No doubt when Zaha has played he has looked like a live wire (at least early in the season), but he hasn't looked mature yet.

He'll never have a better chance to prove his worth IMO. Young's out, Valencia and Nani aren't up to snuff, give Zaha a few games to show us what he can do.

Worth posting this again:

Neville believes any new signing will take time to get used to life at the club, and insists the England Under-21 man is experiencing just what some United stalwarts have, earlier in their careers.
He told the Guardian: "Wilf is a diamond. People say: 'Why is he not playing?' But we're seeing the same with Marouane Fellaini and we've seen it with Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra in the past.
"The first six months, forget the games. Just being a Manchester United footballer, the intensity of training, the expectation, it's really hard. It blows you away."

He has the speed, the pass and the shot, but he hasn't shown he can beat an EPL fullback. He just sticks his head down and tries to run past them, and they just stand back and cut him off.

Great prospect still, I think he'll figure it out. He needs a loan.

I think a loan with Ole would be great. I do hope he starts today though. He deserves a few more chances than he's had.
