Wilfried Zaha - Sold to Crystal Palace

Oh right. And was that how Macheda was introduced versus Villa that day?

Someone posted the same thing just above...
As I've replied, Macheda probably isn't the best example of a player successfully integrating the first team, though of course that could just be because he isn't good enough. There are also plenty more examples of what I'm alluding to than of Macheda type occurrences, and two counter examples (Macheda and will keane) don't change that.

If he had scored that curving shot..

This thread would read entirely different. We would probably see a return to the Cristiano comparisons which seemed to appear in the matchday thread for the Playoff final.

He did alright anyway. The whole team looked shite, so anyone expecting him to be the star to take the game to Newcastle after months of no football is expecting a bit much. I'd like to see more of him. Our current options are failing, so why the hell not?

He has two major set-backs at the highest level so far that he needs to solve.
A. He can't dribble past the defenders from standing still.
B. He is horrendous at creating forward momentum to make his dribbling easier and more efficient.

Looking at his highlights from different games you see him receiving the ball with space, but he waits until he the defender closes the space. THEN he tries to dribble past them from standing still which is 100 times harder.

Hopefully Moyes has him drilling those 2 aspects on repeat but I suspect he is mainly being drilled defensively and may never solve it. B. Is the easiest thing to solve and is purely theoretical. A. however takes actual improving of his attributes to make happen.

I would still like to see him on one side and Nani on the other with Kagawa in the middle and just one striker. I think that Zaha should be rotating on one side with Januzaj and should Nani be a starter in every game. He adds something to our team that Valencia/Young/Welbeck/Kagawa/Giggs doesn't from the wings.

So he goes from being considered not good enough at this level and playing in the reserves to being a potential match winner?

I missed the game but it doesn't surprise me that he didn't put on a show. With him sitting out all of the season so far because his manager doesn't rate him his confidence is hardly going to be pumping. And then to come on chasing a game severely under pressure in a team that seems destined to play within itself...

But of course, his performance can be judged. Context is everything though. And I doubt he's been so poor in training as to warrant not getting any game time. I do hope he gets a January Prem-loan and tears it up.

He had a good game for the reserves and scored and from what Phil Neville said seems to have been starting to adapt to the change in intensity of training etc and given the paucity of wing options surely he is worth a chance? It was more a case of not being ready, instead of 'not good enough'.

Why play him on the left though? It's a big talking point at the moment about 'inverted' wingers and how effective they are. What happened to the old fashioned left footer on the left and right footer on the right?

Some of you really make me laugh. I bet a lot of those criticising Zaha and calling him shit were the same that were screaming for Moyes to play Zaha.
I've said already he isn't ready for us yet and he's not shit but should go on loan in January to get games.

What I'm wondering is why Moyes didn't accept Holloway's request to give Zaha another season at palace, no point having him here this season if he's going to be behind the likes of Young and Welbeck in the pecking order. A January loan is a good shout.

Could definitely use a January loan but I'm not sure about Palace. He doesn't strike me as a Pulis player.

Why did we take Nani out of the game and replace him with Zaha ?

Had no problem with that but the one thing which pissed me off is Moyes insisting on playing him on the left wing and Adnan on the right. Clearly they aren't comfortable in those positions and are far more effective on the opposite sides. Its just bad management.

Agree with this. Even though Januzaj put a couple of good balls in, there were other times when being stuck on the wrong wing clearly hindered his options. Consequently he tried to do too much and dribbled right into the Newcastle defenders. Same thing with Zaha, barely got a sniff and when he did, it was clear that he was uncomfortable taking the ball in. I wish we'd just stick to putting right footers on the right and left footers on the left.

Really not impressed with anything I have seen from him for our first team.

Quite nervous today but still I would give him more chances over Young who's searching for his form in Villa over and over again.

I'd loan him out, depending on what we do in January. Moyes has mentioned us letting a few players go if we get the right offer for them. Assuming a winger departs then there will be more opportunities to give him.

He could do well at another Premier League team that's struggling in attack. I already have a few in mind.

Newcastle would be a good loan. They're playing well and Gouffran is shite. He'll get regular games provided he plays well.

Should've been loaned out to palace again this season. Not even close to being ready yet.

They wanted to have a look at him in training and get him used to the standards at United, rightly. He's not managed to have much of an impact and looks like the loan will happen in January. Not sure Palace would be the right team for him.

Another short appearance where he couldn’t make any real impression on the game. While it is good to see him getting a few minutes at last, he hasn’t exactly struck me as quite ready just yet, or at least not a player that can just drop into a game and influence it straight away. I would like to see us either bring him on a bit earlier to give him some proper time to settle and get involved in the game, or let him head out on loan for a bit in the premier league.

Obertan like in a nutshell... extremely athletic and technical player... but who would do shit for Manchester United... I just hope I am wrong there there! :p

Everton manager Roberto Martinez on reports linking Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha with a loan move to Goodison: "I will never speak about a player registered to another club."

Usually when a manager says something like this there may be a hint of truth in the rumour. Are we even allowed to take another player on loan?

I do not think we will be sending a player on loan to Everton this year, considering you seem to be a consistent rival for a top 4 position this year. Would be a ludicrous decision IMO.

Hasn't Deloufeu picked up a 2-month injury too?

I've said a few times in here that I've been fairly unimpressed with Zaha, and presently, I'd say he isn't good enough for Everton. He just isn't anywhere near careful enough on the ball for a team of that nature.

I think Fulham would be a good shout though, because they have absolutely no pace at all going forward, so he should get into that side.
