£7M to Newcastle would recoup most of our money.
How much did we pay for him?
There's no reason why he can't feature this season. He is similar to Depay in a few ways who has been featuring for LvG's Holland side. Depay has better decision making and more experience but in terms of sheer ability than Zaha is similar.
He just needs to get his head down and work on his weaknesses. He also needs experience at the very top level, so if he can't get it at United, then he needs another loan move. It was always going to be hard for him at Cardiff, walking straight into a relegation battle, and being viewed as a luxury player.
With the right manager and team, he could have a storming season and that could even be at United. His dribbling and ability to beat a player is rare to see now days and if he can improve in the final third then he has a big future.
It would be very silly to sell him now.
Yay! I'm not the only one who doesn't think he has loads of potential/talent.Zaha's touch is inconsistent, he's not gifted at passing or shooting. He has quick feet, is fast, and powerful. He's not as talented as some of you suggest. I wouldn't mind if he was sold. However, I would like to see him get another chance through a loan.
I'd sell Young for 7m, or just release him to free up his contract to make up for 7m and keep Zaha. He's a wide forward, he should fit in Van Gaal's system, provided he keeps his head down and works hard. He's got so much potential and the English tax, it'd be madness to sell him for that cheap without even giving him a proper chance.
While I agree with the point, a lot of 21 year olds don't even get the chance to make an appearance. If the reports are true and it comes down to his attitude, well that might be enough to not deserve another chance. Who cares how Moyes treated him (sure it could have been better) but he is still a professional and it sounds as though he could improve a lot of the pitch. He has done nothing to walk around thinking he has done it all.Oh yeah we should definitely sell him, 2 starts and a sub appearance is more than enough time to tell if a young player is going to make it or not isn't it?
Hes 21 already old as shit, no way he can improve at that age, and besides we are not the type of club that has built its history on giving young players a chance, oh wait...
Jesus some lads on here want every fecker out the door, this lad deserves another chance either with us or a premier league loan, Moyes fecked him over good and proper last season the wanker.

Yes it would. It was 10m up front with add-ons up to 15m. Seen as he made 2 appearances or so it is highly doubtful any of the add-ons were met. Most? Wouldnt even recoup half.
We would get most of it back, it would be a loss no doubt but he wouldn't have come close to meeting any clauses that meant United had to pay the full fee. Most? Wouldnt even recoup half.

He did get a premier league loan though, and he was terrible.Jesus some lads on here want every fecker out the door, this lad deserves another chance either with us or a premier league loan, Moyes fecked him over good and proper last season the wanker.
Agreed but it's a very unique case. Signed by a different manager.I'm sure all that are signed for £10-15m do though, wouldn't you agree? In fact im pretty certain the vast majority that are signed for decent money get a lot more than 4 appearances before someone decides to throw them on the scrap heap.

You can say the same about us though. We were in a mess struggling to fight for top 4 with a new manager. Not exactly the best environment to play a young player with attitude problems.Cardiff were in a mess with a new manager and fighting relegation, not exactly the best environment for a young player to regain his confidence while finding his feet at a new level of football though is it.
I agree and would have loved to have seen him feature more. I was as disappointed at our wide men as much as anyone but that's just looking on the surface. If his attitude was a real problem, well I can understand him not getting his chance. No doubt mate but i still don't believe Moyes gave him a fair crack especially when the likes of Young & Valencia were stinking up the wings, he should have been an option on the bench for a load of games but if i remember rightly he wasn't even in most match day squads before Xmas, could be wrong but thats how i feel.

With everything that went on last season under Moyes and the turmoil at the club he may have displayed attitude problems, personally i don't trust Moyes judgement on players (he spent £28m on Fellaini ffs and wanted to sell RVP) so i think zaha should be given a pass this time.
But if these reported attitude problems persist under LVG i have no doubt Louis will send him packing first chance he gets. But on the other hand if he knuckles down, appreciates that Van Gaal is one of the few top managers who trusts youngsters and grabs any chance given with both hands he could prove himself to be a real asset for the club.

Quick feet and good physical attributes, which is often enough to do well in the Championship. The brain, the consistency of touch, and the ability to dribble cleanly just aren't there.
Not on Sterling, Januzaj or Oxlade Chamberlain's level despite being older, and all three of them have more talent/potential.
I still think it was careless of Fergie to spunk 15m on an unproven player 6 months before his retirement. I wouldn't mind seeing him go. We have Januzaj and Lingaard + we've been linked with the likes of Di Maria, Sanchez etc. I don't see where Zaha would fit in.
I just don't think Zaha will ever be United quality. He's a mid table trickster. Like I said before we have Januzaj and Lingaard who have age on their side and are already better than Zaha. I am hopeful the 2 of them will keep Young and Valencia out of the team. Nani's off to Juve as a make weight.Clearly if we signed any of those two, or any other winger for that matter of any good quality, it would most likely mean the end for Zaha.
However, it doesn't change the fact that Young, Nani, and Valencia are all not United quality. At least Zaha has age on his side.

You learn something new here every single day.

What has Lingard done to be rated higher than Zaha?
I'm basing this off last year's pre-season in which Zaha was outperformed by both Lingaard and Januzaj. I'm also basing this on that Lingaard is amore direct player and more prolific in front of goal. Zaha wastes a lot of time and possession trying stepovers and fancy flicks + he touch is not all that great. It looks good when he pulls it off but it's frustrating. Anyone who's watched Nani on a bad day can relate. What are you basing this off? Lingard has done nothing in the PL, a bit like Zaha, and excelled in the championship, a bit like Zaha although Zaha was better than Lingard has been this spell.
