Who wins euro 2024?

I haven't really paid much attention to Spain but they're always a fecking horrible team to play against when they're on form. Wouldn't be surprised if they went far.

France are terrible without Mbappe so depends if he stays fit
Not impressed with Germany
Portugal looked good until they met Croatia
Spain look great
Certainly not England
Holland dark horse

This was going to be my pick as well. Everyone seemed to talking about how mediocre their side is, and hat always seems to rebound in a teams favor.

Who is going to score the goals for Spain though? Are they counting on 16 year old Yamal?

Goalscoring is always Spain's achilles heel, but agree that on form they are by far the most difficult team to play against. They're the only team that keep the ball like a top club side.

Have to say, this is one of the hardest to predict Euros for a while.

No team is without their weak spots and so much will be determined on the day. Tournament momentum is likely going to be key and - if they get a good start - home advantage could be pivotal.

Portugal look good on paper but they got schooled by Croatia. I can't see Portugal winning it. Croatia might finally win something if it's not France. Can't take England seriously right now.
I still don't know who's going to be the 11 players to play for Portugal, I thought against Ireland finally I would see the final 11 and ...nope "still experiencing". What I saw from the last game Ronaldo, Leao, Fernandes and Silva are the attack Portugal needs, against Croatia who watched the game though Portugal was winning since they basically moved forward at walking pace, no urgency, nothing.

France are set up to get the best out of their best player. Giroud, Griezmann provide service and intelligence to allow Mbappe to get into the positions he needs to really hurt sides. Their midfield is solid in defensive transition and is more than capable of getting the ball forwards to their creative players.

Can we say the same for England?

I’d say France or Portugal for me. England have a chance but if we are to go far we need our attacking players to find their rhythm.

I think England is less experienced and pretty weaker overall than last time, with Southgate getting the stick in spite of having completely reshaped his selection principles: “in form” yet unproven and individual players instead of his loyal cogs, either injured or out of favor.

Yeah poor misunderstood genius Southgate!

Terrible without Mbappe? They have world class players on all positions and could more or less field three different starting elevens who all could excel in the Euros.

England - the width of the players up top, Rice in form and a lot of experience from the last two competitions. I see them as team for the last four at least.

The other ones I agree on.

Regarding France, you forgot to watch the Canada game then?

And England well, they have so many good players which means feck all with SG at the wheel

Portugal
Spain
France
Germany

In order of likelihood for me.
Netherlands could surprise - if only bc they look like a fairly cohesive unit for a change.

I would agree though this one feels impossible to predict. Every team looks beatable.

Makes for a cracking tournament. Not one of the "big" teams is in great form and there's bound to be a lot of surprises. Looking for a semifinal dark horse to show up too.

I'm going with Spain. They're not as great as the team that dominated football between 2008 and 2012, but they have some exciting talents and an excellent midfield. They're also in good shape, having won the nations league recently.

Behind them I see England, Germany and Italy. England has a terrifying offense but I'm not entirely sure about the defensive. Germany has the home advantage and one of the most experienced squads. Italy is very underrated, they may not have that many big names but their players performed well in their clubs regarding the European competitions.

Portugal and France are set to dissapoint. France rarely plays well and it is too dependant on Mbappé. Portugal has a great squad, no doubt, I just don't think they have the right mentality. Yes they won in 2016, but it was quite lucky, they didn't even win one match in the group stages, played Wales in the Semis and were outplayed by France who just couldn't finish.

Belgium could be the dark horse, now that the high expectations are gone.

In order ..... France, Italy, England.

France has great players and is usually a very good team internationally. There's more than just Mbappe.
Italy becomes exponentially stronger the longer they stay in the tournament, it's a great mix of organization and enthusiasm.
England has gained international experience by reaching the later phases in past tournaments ... only thing that's left for them now is win it.

Portugal, France or Germany for me.

Netherlands the outside bet.

France for me. Strong in every department, with the added magic of Mbappe up front.

I'd have England close second if they had a better defence. Ironically, I also think all the options Southgate has is a bit of a negative because you don't really know who will play and how they will gel.

There's a risk he may shoehorn Palmer, Foden and Saka in there, and not sure how that will work. At International level, it always seems to be the settled teams, like a Croatia, that have that team spirit and understanding, that do well.

France suffer from that same problem, but their sheer world class options overcome it for them.

Spain will be interesting to watch.

How are Germany looking? Would have thought home advantage would be a big plus for them.

As good as England's squad is, they always have this mental block they can't seem to shake away in major tournaments. They're the international football version of Arsenal, but without the pretty football.

Think it'll be any one of the usual suspects France/Germany/Portugal/Italy/Spain.

Difficult to predict. Squad vibes appear to be much better than in previous tournaments, the downside of this is that it's a massively changed squad this year which didn't have much time to get used to each other on the pitch. High risk/high reward approach by Nagelsmann.

For me France, following with Portugal are 2 biggest favorites.

Ahead of Germany, England, Italy and Spain

I think i will go for a more offensive and lesser favorite in Spain.

Why? Biggest reason : this CM trio of Olmo - Rodri - Pedri are up there with France, Portugal, England midfield.

Adding with really pacey wingers, with flair and skill in Yamal and Williams

Yamal - Olmo - Rodri - Pedri - Williams....feeding Morata on consistent top level of service. If they get the max out of theirs potential. They will be really dangerous and hard to handle.
I will be really satisfy if i was Spain head coach.

But in the last match. It look like Fabian Ruiz, a more defensive player than Dani Olmo. Ruiz - Rodri - Pedri was prefer. Fabian Ruiz is really creative too. Bigger and taller than Olmo and not as creative.

On paper Spain midfield and XI is and will be really enjoyable to watch.

Rodri shall be important and key for Spain as for Manchester City. Carvajal too. So Spain do has experience players and leaders in the team. Adding with pace, skill, creative, flair and sharpness.

Spain has ingredients and factors to play really good attacking football.

Spain can go all the way and win Euro 2024. If they XI stay fit whole tournament. Maybe squad dept is not as good as others big nations. But Spain XI line up are up there with the best nations in Europe.

So i vote for Spain to win this Euro 24.

Had a sneaky feeling about Spain, but that's probably dead in the water after that jinx thread by Luckyscout.
