Who will Arsenal bring in with the Fabregas money?

So they're after two centre-halves? That's quite interesting if only because I assumed that would mean they'd be moving Vermaelen out to LB if that happened, but now they seem to be on the verge of getting Andre Santos. Surely that will mean they'll feck Squillaci off somewhere?

It's quite bizarre how it took an 8-2 thrashing to wake Arsenal into some serious transfer activity. What the hell have they been doing the rest of the summer?

This is what is truly bewildering. All the business they've done all summer long has been two wingers. Arsenal fans must be livid and rightfully so. You drop from 2 to 4 it's one thing. You drop out of the top 4 it's a huge deal. And now he'll end up either having to pluck out some gem's who are good that noone has heard of or pay well over the odds which makes no sense if you're conservative as Arsene is.

They SHOULD be after two centre backs. Vermalen, who is extremely good, is constantly injured and they need three solid centre backs at the club (including him). Koschwhatever and Squillaci are certainly not good enough. The former can possibly be a 4th choice.

I suppose I'm surprised by the fact that unless they can offload Squillaci before the window they'll be left carrying five well-paid centre-halves, which doesn't seem the Wenger way.

The word on Andre Santos is, he's quite shit...

One has to wonder why the hell Arsenal didn't bid for Enrique...he would have been perfect for Arsenal.

SSN are now saying they've ended their interest in Cahill.

Somebody said on the Twitter speculation thread that both parties had agreed a fee of £14m and personal terms with a medical scheduled for tomorrow and now they have ended their interest in Cahill?

Its been that way for a while. United should have matched Citeh's offer for Nasri and thrown Rio into the deal and month ago. Worst case scenario it would have pushed the price up for Citeh.

:lol::lol:

Just saw this. Why would we do that? He's arguably the best defender in the world, not a wonder mop, ffs.

Atleast Arsenal are now making the signings that they need to make, but it's worrying how it took them an 8-2 loss to wake up and get them sorted.

Santos is an ok signing, could be better of course but with the amount of times left in this transfer window could you really expect much better? He's an improvement on what they have at LB.

Mertesaker is a good defender, but his pace lets him down. He also reads the game well. He'll be good in the box for crosses, both attacking and defending. Again, an improvement on what they already have - Vermalen and Mertesaker in defence isn't to be sniffed at imo.

Park Chu Young is a nifty striker, certainly an able replacement for the (in my opinion) useless Bendtner. He will bring some hard graft into the attack and offer something different.

All they need now is some sort of playmaker to work with Wilshere in midfield and they'll have an OK squad.

I'm fairly certain these deals began before we got thrashed. We've been interested in Mertesacker for a long time. We've been looking at how to sell shirts in Asia since the Inamoto days.
