Wenger's buys the past 6 years have been very underwhelming. Vermaelen, Sagna, Gallas, Nasri, and Adebayor seem to be the only good ones in that time, and 2 of course are gone. Nasri didn't do a whole lot until last season, and Vermaelen has been injured a lot.

Players who've been brought in to Arsenal who've played, but been largely average include: Bendtner, Hleb, Diaby, Walcott, Rosicky, Baptista, Eduardo, Diarra, Ramsey, Arshavin, Chamakh, Koscielny, and Squillaci. I won't include Gervinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain, but if I were betting on either to become a Premier League star, you'd have to give me some amazing odds. Will Wenger finally get it right? :wenger:

This next 2 weeks may prove to be the most important of Arsenal's season believe it or not.

They need to replace Fabrasi very quickly and if Arsene was a smart lad knowing of Fabrasi's inevitable departure he should have players lined up already.

You just don't leave a gaping hole in quality and continue like everything is normal. I for one, don't see Wenger being so incompetent.

If nobody is brought in, then I can only watch the gooners crumble.

Stop that. Just stop it.

Fabrasri . Boss, you sir a one of a kind.

As for the topic, Cahill looks to be the one in defence. They'll still need another top class forward though to rotate with RVP, there is no way he can play every game and Chamakh is a bit shit. Gervinho has arguably already replaced Nasri's wide position, and Ramsey and Wilshere will get games to replace Fabregas. I'd still expect them to sign an attacking midfielder, but I doubt it'll be a big name, just someone to back up Ramsey/Wilshere, or another young signing/promoted youth teamer.

Some unknown 17 year old Frenchman from the French second division. Fee will be around 10 million.

Bruce Grobbelaar

I don't think he'll replace both directly, Nasri played a lot of the time wide in the front 3 and they have Gervinho there now. I think Wenger will splash out on Mata and a CB, probably Cahill.

Jadion from Shaktar was the name being bounced around the tabloids. They certainly won't be able to get anyone as near as the quality of Fabregas. £30 mil is very cheap for probably the best central midfielder in the PL and someone who has a 3/4 years left on a contract.

Think we'll see them bring in a few players to add some depth. Cahill, Jadison, Mata and probably someone else.

They are so fecked. The more quality they lose the harder it will be to contract new big names. Who the hell want to play in a team like Arsenal when the chance on playing CL-football is down to the development of the rest of the team. An established player with CL ambitions is not going to like that proposal hence Nasri and Fabregas is now giving the arse-fans the finger.

My predictions:

Neither player will be widely heard of and both will cost less than 10 million.

In a couple of years time both will be sold to Man City for a fat profit

If Wenger wasn't a stingy little man, I'd have guessed a big money move for either Hazard or Gourcuff.

There isn't really anyone out there better than Fabregas who is available though, so I'd give Ramsey a run in the team or play Nasri in the hole. (assuming he stays).
