One player? Maybe because his deal was only ever for six months.
(And before you go there the likes of Alvaro and Williams aren’t good enough and need the loans otherwise they would be recalled. Being a specialist LB doesn’t necessarily make them better than Lindelof or Amrabat)

Exactly. I can live with dropping points here and there, but a good manager implements a style, and with the squad we have we should be able to do well against a lot of teams, but we almost never do, against any one.

There isn’t a stand out candidate but nothing ETH offers is of a standard that makes that a deterrent. Whoever we bring in is unlikely to be much worse and the worst case scenario is ETH clings on by skin of his teeth before inevitably being sacked before Christmas.

It’s not just Erik. Rangnick ‘god father of the press’ couldn’t do it, Mourinho didn’t implement anything other than a parked bus, LVG failed with his ‘philosophy’. The closest we’ve come to a style implemented is Oles counter attacking.
We can’t keep blaming the manager every 2 years. We have to ride out the bumps and have some conviction for heavens sake.
 
Please no potter or poch (if he becomes available). Nagelsmann would be my preference
 
A bit of a stretch, but with Nagelsmann maybe, just maybe, he'd be up for starting his role now. Wouldn't be the first time a national team coach managed a club at the same time.

I’m all in on ETH still, but I’d take Tuchel. I don’t think De Zerbi is all that, like Potter before him he benefits from the set up Brighton have and the support around him.
ETH is out here alone, reporting directly to the ceo. That needs to change before the manager does.
 
Amorim for me. Though we'd need to mix up the squad a hell of a lot to fit his playstyle..

I don't rate De Zerbi. Not yet at least.

The question isn’t who replaces him. We aren’t Directors of Football or Sporting Directors.

Ten Hag doesn’t deserve to keep the job past the end of this season. If he were to magically vanish over night the club would find someone, he’s done nothing to show he is irreplaceable.

If the next manager fails, hire another one. The minimum expectations of the job should be better than this.

I don’t think so. This isn’t some Ole style death spiral crash and burn where we can’t get a win for love nor money. We’ve seen in the last 5 games before Fulham that we can play well and win when we have the right players available. We’ve had a rough season no doubt but we are still very much a work in progress. Even more so now we have new staff incoming above ETH. Give it all a time to settle and let people do there job.
 
I just keep thinking back to what Ratcliffe said about them deciding what style of football they want United to play and that they would choose coaches to fit that. So I don’t think that will be decided until the DoF is in place and then a careful choice has to be made. Do they go defensive like Simone/Mourinho type, all out attacking, etc because that’s the theme they then need to stick to otherwise you’re just wasting money on transfers and wasting time with the reserves
 
I’ve said he should have been sacked months ago but the squad needs a major overhaul as well. So much dross in that team and not nearly enough decent players in the squad.

It’s no surprise Lindelof and Maguire were playing and we are bad defensively again. We need 7 players this summer which isn’t going to happen but that’s what we need. LB, 2CB, 2CM, RW, ST. Get rid of Maguire, Lindelof, Sancho, Antony, Rashford. At we know Martial is going.

Yup.

Also I think Ratcliffe dropped a major hint in favour of Ten Hag by saying we've had loads of managers and each one of them failed. Which means there's a wider problem at hand stopping the managers from fulfilling their potential.

EtHs ego won’t allow him to succumb to the demands of others. DoF will get rid.

He’s done, there’s no chance he lasts the two/three years required to sort out all this mess. There’s absolutely nothing to fear about sacking him and the be careful what you wish for argument just doesn’t apply.

Start afresh with someone who wants to do something other than counter attack and don’t waste any more time.

We had better players than Fulham today, and in countless other games where we were by a mile the worse team.

If we weren't about to go on a rebuild then maybe you could justify keeping him, but we can't waste another year before almost 100pc sacking this manager anyway

I'd prefer a pragmatic coach to be honest. Ideologues are fun and all, but managers who refuse to change their style and formation when that is clearly what the team needs, gets annoying quickly.
 
If you bin off Ten Hag now, you should get Rooney and Keane in until the end of the season, after which Ashford and Sir Jim can bring in someone they really want.

The fans love them both and they'd not take any guff from any players not giving 100%.

Seriously though, we’ve seen how we ‘could’ play through last season too. Since then he’s bought through Alejandro, Kobbie and is developing Hojlund. It’s an exciting prospect.
Transitioning from DDG to Onana has been rough, injuries have been ridiculous and all the off field shit he’s dealt with too. I think he’s doing a marvellous job all things considered and deserves to start next season at least. I’m interested where he can take us with INEOS’s support.

That depends if you believe the mess is his fault, or if you accept we were a mess pre-ETH and it’s a monumental job to sort it out, especially with the turbulence and uncertainty the sale process would have caused.

It is a monumental job and the time and money wasted by ETH isn’t helping with that, he has no future it’s just a case of whether that decision will be made in the summer or he’ll go next season.

We’ve seen what he wants to do, how he wants the team to play and it’s not even close to being good enough. Same applied when we finished 2nd with Jose, 2nd with Ole, we’re just not even trying to implement anything that will take us into a position to compete.

I know there is the cult of RR about etc, and trust me I’m very far from that, but I will give the man that in his very first game vs Crystal Palace his tactics were in place and rather effective.

Then at 70mins the players ran out of steam. Rangnick quickly learned the players just didn’t fancy it. Perhaps that says something about his man management and motivational skills, however it seems to be a consistent theme

The same happened with Ole, he came in and talked about how no United team should ever be out worked etc…before going all in on counter attacking.

there has been a rotten work ethic and entitlement festering in the squad for some time now. The board has rewarded mediocrity for years with fat new contracts. Share value over footballing values.

ETH did really well in his first season dealing with the diva’s and installing standards. But he’s making some strange decisions and potentially his indulgence of Rashfords laziness, mixed with stubbornness, might ultimately cost him. We’ve been crap ever since the league cup win.

His one saving grace is his promotion and trust in the younger squad members

You can hardly include Rangnick, as he was only here for a short space off time and didn't have a transfer window like the rest. Mourinho set his team up to defend, and on the whole, from what I can remember, we looked pretty solid, but boring going forward. Ole, quite similar to Jose, in that he played with a low block and hit teams on the counter. LVG was the closest, in my opinion. We were structured both on and off the ball. Him changing from a 433 to a 4231 messed him up.

I'm not blaming anyone for anything. I'm just saying that it wasn't too much to ask for a win against Fulham at Old Trafford today, ffs.
 
Manchester United signed a recent partnership with Palmeiras, wont be surprised if Abel Ferreira gets talked about.
