Who are Manchester United's five new Brazilian signings?

Seems obvious that if we do sign him, it'll be a year or two before we have to worry about "fitting him in"

He'll settle into the reserves and go out on loan like the rest

Always nice to hear ANY player really wants it to play for United.

This has unofficially become the Bruno Gomes thread. What happened to the 5 brazillians?

Maybe United want to put a rush on all the paperwork shit because he looks really promising. Like he says, another hat-trick to his name.

I find it quite boggling thinking how we will fit him in when he does come. I like seeing young players coming in, and if he is as promising as it seems then I want to see him get his chances.

He is 16!!! RVP is 29. By the time RVP is done, he will be ready to slot in and take over. RVP and Hernandez are the only out and out strikers that we employ these days. Welbeck and Rooney are used more in attacking mid/winger positions. I wouldn't worry about either him or Henriquez slotting in. They will both be fine.

Agnaldo the one who was on trial with us in the summer has signed for Molde.

He was meant to be quite good wasn't he? I'm assuming we won't be taking him on then or is this a way for him to get his permit?

The answer to that question will probably be indicative of just what this burgeoning Ole-built relationship we have with Molde is going to be.

Well if we have struck up a deal with them, it will be good to see the players go to a team managed by Ole.

He impressed in a couple of friendlies IIRC. But Aguilar was the one supposed to be good and Lucas Evangilsta the one who we were more impressed with and were tracking. He was the one who caused a bust up of the link with Twente too.

About Agnaldo we did recommend him to Molde probably. Whether or not there is a option for us or just helping out Ole, dunno.... They've taken him on loan with a option to buy.

So other than Bruno Gomes who isn't part of that 5, and leao who turned out pretty shit. Is there anything happening with the others that you know of?

Personally I doubt we have. Fergie tends to be very responsible about youngsters who we get involved with, whether it's someone who's come in for a couple of trials or a lad who's been in the academy all the way. I imagine that what's happened here is that for one reason or another we've decided not to pick up our option on the lad, and rather than just take away the promising future in European football which has been hanging over him for five years or so, Fergie and Solskjaer (or scouts from the two clubs) will have discussed him, informally, bringing about Molde's interest. Of course, that's pure guesswork.

Yeah they fecked some shit up for us.

Really? What happened?

Yeah they fecked some shit up for us.

Really? What happened?

A young Brazilian guy (twitter @gabrielfuh_) who watches the São Paulo youth competitions has been kind enough to explain what happened with Lucas Evangelista.

Apparently, Evangelista was playing in a youth tournament in Holland and ended up training with either PSV or Ajax- this annoyed Twente who decided to break off their agreement with Desportivo Brasil so they can't loan to them anymore which complicates getting a work permit given that Lucas is not a Brazilian youth international so is unlikely to qualify as an exceptional talent. So now he has gone to São Paulo with an option to buy, along with Gladstony who is no longer on Desportivo's books.

I asked him how this will impact Bruno Gomes, and if he is likely to qualify for a work permit. He claims that it will depend a lot on whether he gets selected for the Brazilian u-17 for the World Cup and South American championships.

Gomes is breaking all sorts of records in São Paulo youth leagues and cups and is carrying the form over to u-20s even though he is just 16- Scoring 3 goals in 4 games- he got a goal and an assist today so there is a decent chance- but it's Brazil I guess it will be competitive as hell for Striking places.

....

Very possible, we all know Fergie likes to look after youngsters even if they don't get a career with us.

Not verified info but from reading/asking around other places and this thread my understanding is -

Leao was apparently the only one with European passport, but wasn't very good. Went back to Desportivo and hasn't done anything of note there either.

Evangilsta came for a trial with us and we were impressed and tracking him, but then what the post above from Drainy says happened and he is at Sao Paulo. Gladstony went with him.

Agnaldo as I told about above.

Aguilar is still at Desportivo and playing for their u20's.

Cheers, so basically Bruno is our last hope there. We need to form some new links to take over the twente link.

What has happened to our link with Royal Antwerp? Cofie and another youth player (McSomething) were there last season, I believe.

It's still present. Van Velzen and Luke Giverin went on loan there this season.

Any news on Gomes' Italian work permit application? It was mentioned it was expected last week.

Promised to Manchester United, Bruno Gomes may go to São Paulo
São Paulo shows interest in young star from Desportivo Brasil and has already opened conversations with Traffic, but other clubs from Brazil and Europe are interested as well

São Paulo may upset Manchester United’s plans of having the 16 years old Bruno Gomes in a near future. The team from Morumbi wants to take the youngster, he would be the third one from Manchester’s project at Desportivo to go to São Paulo: Gladstony and Lucas Evangelista are already training with tricolor since the second semester of 2012.

Traffic, the company who owns the player, is already talking with tricolor, but is asking high for its most promising star. The value is way above the 500 thousand reais offered by Palmeiras in 2012. The agreement may go by 2 million reais, which would be almost 1 million dollars. Despite São Paulo’s interest, many other clubs seem to have an eye at Bruno and a lot of possibilities are open now, beyond Manchester United.

A huge sensation at the u17, Bruno has made his name as the best at his position and age level through the years. He is the first one to be consecutively the top scorer of São Paulo State u15 and u17 championship. Also, he has been the top scorer in almost every tournament he played with Desportivo Brasil’s jerseys. There’s actually no explanation, beyond politics, for Bruno not being called to the National u17.

Looks like Manchester is also taking too long to make a decision about Bruno’s big move to England and that might be the reason the young forward is looking for a second plan for his carreer. He is well known by many Red Devils fans, but the club doesn’t seem to make such an effort to have the player.

In contact made by me, Bruno’s family didn’t confirm São Paulos’s interest, but people close to the player have assured that there are official stuff going on about Bruno and some clubs in Brazil and Europe.

FFS United didn't think this partnership through, did they ?

Bruno Gomes ‏@B9oficial 35m

“@_oliverperkins: @B9oficial Are you learning English so you can easily speak to the United players when you get here?” Yes kkk

Bruno Gomes Bruno Gomes ‏@B9oficial 40m

Trained Too Well the morning, had lunch and now rest already! AFTER SCHOOL english language!

His latest tweets, just half an hour back. Think the European passport he was trying for, may not have come through.

And even though he will surely choose United if there was a choice can see why if the club won't commit and the Money being offered he may have to go Elsewhere.

In fairness to the lad, he clearly wants the deal to go through but he needs to have options in case his transfer is blocked by our shitty work permit laws.

No use getting his heart set on this transfer and then when it falls through letting it set you back *cough*Ljajic*cough*

Former Cruzeiro, forward linked to Man United negotiates move to São Paulo

The young Aguilar was once the fuse of a discussion between Traffic and Cruzeiro. Three years later, he is now negotiating his move to São Paulo FC

The forward Aguilar, 18 years old, might be one of the new players on São Paulo u20 at the beginning of the regular season in Brazil.

Traffic and Tricolor are already discussing the paperwork to transfer the youngster, who was part of Manchester United’s project at Desportivo. He was monitored and did regular visitations to Red Devil’s training field, in England.

The negotiation terms are similar to another Desportivo’s young star, whom is already training at São Paulo: Lucas Evangelista. São Paulo will borrow him for two years, with a renewing clause that will give a higher percentage of player’s rights to Tricolor.

Beyond going to São Paulo, Aguilar was offered to Molde FK as well. The club from Norway Premier League already has Agnaldo, former Aguilar’s mate at Desportivo Brasil. Everything points out that the Norwegian team is going to take FC Twente role on Manchester – Desportivo agreement. Anyway, this move will not happen because the player refused it.

Years ago, the forward was the center of a huge fight between Traffic and Cruzeiro. By that time, in 2010, when Aguilar signed for Desportivo Brasil, Cruzeiro’s President, Zezé Perella, made serious accusations and criticized the work done by the business-team.

Zezé Perella said Traffic was impelling the player, by offering 450 thousand reais (250 thousand dollars) to his family. Aguilar was only 15 and couldn’t sign a professional deal yet. That made it easier for his transfer to happen.

Losing his young star was so painfull for Perrella that he said he would close the u15 team and criticized the Pelé’s Law, complaining that this was the reason clubs could do that to each other. Cruzeiro turned down the partnership that was being negotiated with Traffic almost immediately.

The situation was later circumvented with Cruzeiro keeping a big part of Aguilar’s economic rights.

After going to Desportivo, his great performances resulted on being the Top Scorer of Paulista’s u15 and called up to Brazil’s u17, even being a year younger than other players at Émerson Ávila’s list.

Now, after being a reserve on Copa São Paulo, the young promise is waiting for his future to be decided, to make his effort trying to recover the status he had a few years ago.

Just been on Bruno's twitter and he's got Manchester in his profile although I have no idea what the sentence translates to. Also he's retweeted quite a few things from united fans looking forward to seeing him here, it's refreshing to see a young Brazillian dreaming of our club, I'm sure Rafael being here will be a great factor for him too.

Also he replied to a tweet from sport witness asking him for an interview so hopefully they get some decent info out of him.

oh btw, apparently Rafael Leao is now on trial at Middlesborough. Didn't think it was really worth bumping the thread for. Good luck to him, I don't think he was ever given a fair shot at United in terms of gametime in his preferred position.

Nice, looking forward to seeing this kid play for our u21s. You'd expect him to tear it up in all honesty. But feck, we mustn't forget we still have Henriquez and Will Keane as well.
