Where will Rooney end up?

Where will Rooney end up?

At Weight Watchers most likely.

I wont be surprised if Barcelona joins in.

I really don't see him wanting to leave England.

But I don't see us selling to an English club.

Unless he's going to Real or Bayern, it's going to be a step down for him no matter where he goes imo(I can't see him going to Barca).

Chelsea and City can only offer short term success and maybe a little more money(his wages are already really high). PSG is in the French league, and I doubt they will win the CL.

What is important for Rooney? Money? Success? Being "the main man"? No matter where he goes, he's gonna fail imo. If Bayern or Real manage to find space for him, he's still not gonna be one of the best players. He'll be outshone there, just as he's outshone in United. He might become the main man for City or Chelsea, but his reputation is going to be totally tarnished, and his success will be short-term at the very best.

So what's it gonna be, Rooney?

I think the only place Wayne Rooney would be happy other than here is possible Barca, Can't see the Germans putting up with him and his tantrums, can't see him putting up with Real, the French league isn't real... so only leaves Barca..

He isn't daft enough to join anyone else in England, is he?

He most definitely is! If I were to put my money on a club, it would be City or Chelsea.

This saga(2010 and now) has proven a few things:
- United doesn't really hold a special place in Rooney's heart. He'll "betray" us in a heartbeat if he feels like it.
- Rooney is a treacherous snake. Just 8 months ago he declared that United is the only club for him, that the incident in 2010 was just a silly mistake, and that he hoped to still be playing for United 10 years from now.

So yeah, I don't trust the man for a second. I obviously hope he doesn't end up in Chelsea or City, but I fear it will happen.

Maybe he just wants to play as the main striker again and is annoyed that he is pushed in other positions? He won't be the main man for Real if Ronaldo stays, but he clearly would start ahead of Benzema or Higuain.

It's different at Bayern. I don't think he'd be the best player at the club but he'd probably be the biggest foreign superstar who signed for a german club in the history of the league. I still have no clue who's going and staying at Bayern and what plans Guardiola has with the team. But if Rooney wants a new challenge and wants to play reguarly upfront, he'd improve both Real and Bayern compared to what they have now. I'd love to have him at Bayern but I never understood the criticism Rooney gets on the Caf anyway, it's way over the top imo.

If I were to rank the clubs by likeliness, it would be something like this:

1. City
2. Chelsea
3. Real
4. PSG
5. Bayern
6. Barca
7. Others

I just don't see Rooney fitting in for Barca. As for Bayern, I doubt they want him, even though he could be useful enough. PSG wants every hot player on the market, so Rooney is probably on their list. Real actually needs a player like Rooney, and the same applies to City and Chelsea.

Thats a very precise answer. Thanks for that.

I still reckon the scraphead is a better bet.

But yeah seriously speaking Rooney does seem very confused as a person at times. Rather than it being a money issue, I think the bigger issue is disillusionment and discontent with his current life (both on and off the pitch).

I'm not a fanboy nor do I hold any unhealthy obsession with a player, but a move to City would be seriously discouraging. And Chelsea as a club I really do not like primarily because of its association with John Terry.

Yep. He seems mentally weak to me.

I agree that it's a little over the top at times, but there are basically two reasons for this:

1. We all know how good Rooney can be. It's therefore frustrating to see him not even being one of our 5 best players this season. Every time he underperforms, it's going to be noticed.

2. This saga has proved that Rooney 1) couldn't care less about United, 2) can't be trusted, and 3) is delusional. It's therefore no wonder that people criticise him especially much now.

By all means, Rooney is a star. But there are many better players out there, and as far as United goes, he's not that important. A great player to have obviously, but we're not gonna be in big trouble if he leaves.

I suppose this summer will finally prove how true the theory that 'every big club would be after him if he decided to leave'.

I wouldn't be suprised if he joined Chelsea, although given the calibre of clubs likely to be involved, I would hope that for once we take the opportunity to negotiate a good player in exchange that we need. I'm talking a Verratti, Modric, Thiago or something.

If Falcao goes to Monaco and Lewandowski to Bayern, with the added possibility of Cavani to PSG, then I could see Chelsea and City both making big offers for Rooney.

I'm not sure if we'll sell to Chelsea or City. If he's desperate to leave and they make an incredible offer then it would be possible, but it would be unwise for us to sell him to a Premier League rival. Despite his lapse in form this season, we know what he's capable of. While it would be entertaining to see one of the two paying massive money and him turning out to be a flop, it's a risk we can't take.

If he was to go to either of them though, then it would probably be Chelsea. They could certainly do with a top quality forward because despite Torres' improvements he's nowhere near what he once was, however City don't if they keep Aguero and Tevez. Often, they do have more money than sense but it'd be unwise to have three big name forwards when two of them constantly throw fits if they're not the centre of attention. If Tevez was to leave though, there would perhaps be the slightest possibility.

If we were offered £30-40 million outside England, I'd take it, but for me if stays in the Prem it has to be double as you aren't just loosing a £40mil player, your strengthening a domestic rival by the amount also.

I'd rather keep Rooney for two years and let him go on a free than sell him to Chelsea or City while he's in his peak years.

To sell him within England I'd want 60+. Would be content with 45-50 from a foreign team.

It's not quite as black and white as that though is it, he's not exactly had his best season and he wouldn't be needed at every top club. Taking price and age into consideration I'd say Messi is probably the only player in the world who 'every' top club in the world would make a real effort to sign if he became available anyway.

I still think he's off to Madrid.

PSG...they need Galacticos....and Ibra just got into a huge rift with Leonardo apparently.

I just got home from a trip to Paris and the PSG "brand" was everywhere.....the advertising was lead by Ibra and Beckham...
