Where will Rooney end up?

Keep him until he expires. Don't play him at any level for the entire 2 years. Whose going to want a big fat unfit 30 year old Rooney? Ruin the cnut. All this "asking to leave was the biggest regret of my life" shite that he waffled on about in his book. Get it up ye!

I don't really want that to happen. I hope he goes abroad. It's just a kick in the teeth. It makes everything he's said about United after the first ordeal a whole load of lies. Get rid. Send him far away. Hope he opts for some ridiculous payday in Russia or Qatar or something.

He'll start behind RvP against Wigan in the Charity Shield.

Nev will have a chat on England duty. Hopefully he'll go on holiday and sort his head out. Refocus and come back ready and raring to go.

Ready to drop the same shit at the end of next season again.

You're like love-struck teenagers here.

Are Neville, Yorke and Schmeichel lovesick teenagers because that's exactly what they want him to do for the good of the club and I feel the same.

To be fair some of the bile being spewed is like a 13 year olds response to catching his first girlfriend getting fingered by someone else.

I really hopes these 13 year olds have girlfriends much older than them, because otherwise, the analogy is just sick!

You never fingered anyone when you were 13?

Late bloomer.

Yes, you'd never get Ronaldo having the cheek to ask for a transfer.

As much as i dislike him for the shenanigans he pulled a couple of years ago and what's going on now, i do think Rooney will stay here. I just can't see him going elsewhere, if he does i feel it'll be somewhere in England despite us not being willing to sell there. I just can't see him playing abroad really which makes me feel he'll stay here. We'll see though, i'm not overly bothered either way, but i probably would prefer if he stayed.

I wish people would stop suggesting Ronaldo as a feasible target, you might as well throw in a bid for Messi while you're at it.

Not really the same though is it. Ronaldo used to be one of ours and had great memories here at OT, Messi wasnt. There's also reason to believe he might be sick of the circus-like antics at Real Madrid, whereas we assume Messi is currently very happy at Barca.

The only obstacle is the transfer fee, but something tells me the move will become more feasible providing we get a substantial amount for what looks like Rooney's imminent departure.

I just don't see Ronaldo wanting to come back here. He's won everything there is to win and dreamed of playing for Real, not just for the football but for the lifestyle that he's more accustomed to. Perhaps when he's 32/33 but I can't imagine that he'll be back within the next year at least - especially with SAF no longer managing.

Spurs need a striker.

United will only sell if there is a suitable alternative lined up. I think both the club and the player are playing against each other. These rumours about Falcao, and Lewandowski are the club saying we have alternatives.

Not really. I'd say the majority are well aware that Rooney's burnt his bridges, just a few still with their head in the sand. We already have good options in his position, in fact if we sign a very good central midfielder and didnt replace Rooney we'd be in a stronger position than this season. Its more than likely we'll replace him anyway

We've had this discussion in the other thread but I really don't see how selling Rooney and getting in a quality CM would put us in a better position.

Both Barca and RM need a striker and would pay good money. Cant see him being sold to an English side

I heard that Rooney has a passion for Russian history and that his favourite novelist is Fyodor Dostoevsky. A move to Russia would make sense.

He's completing a dissertation on Crime and Punishment I hear........or is it Peppa Pig.

The themes are so similar

Wayne Rooney’s omission from Manchester United’s starting XI against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night has fuelled speculation that the England striker’s time at Old Trafford is nearing an end. Here we take a look at ten possible destinations for the 27-year-old should Sir Alex Ferguson decide to cash in on the striker this summer.

Paris St Germain

The mega-rich Parisians are the overwhelming favourites to offer Rooney a way out of Manchester. PSG’s owners, the Qatar Sports Investments, are not scared of splashing the cash and reports have suggested that they are keen to add Rooney as their marquee summer signing. But would Rooney see the switch to France’s Ligue One as a step down? And are he and Coleen really the sort to embrace life in the French capital?

Manchester City

United’s fierce rivals were reported to be the team who turned Rooney’s head back in 2010. The striker initially refused to commit his future to Old Trafford, citing concerns at the club’s ambitions, before a late U-turn saw him sign a new long-term contract. City still have the cash to finance a deal and are on the look-out for firepower this summer, but it is thought the Sky Blues now have other targets in mind.

Chelsea

Money is no issue for the west Londoners with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich continuing to bank-roll operations at the Bridge. The Blues are in need of a forward as £50million flop Fernando Torres’ time in London is surely nearing its end. Much will depend on who the Blues appoint as their new manager.

Arsenal

The Gunners are another club in desperate need of the goals that Rooney could provide. The England international would be the ideal man to spearhead Arsenal’s frontline as they look to end their eight season trophy drought. The cash is there to potentially push through the transfer but would Arsene Wenger, presuming he is still in place next season, be willing to change the habit of a lifetime and actually spend it?

Barcelona

Lionel Messi has been quoted this week expressing his desire to one day play alongside Rooney and a move to the Nou Camp could certainly be the shot in the arm the forward needs to revive his career. Whether Barca really need him or want him, however, is a completely different matter. They’re not exactly short of attacking options.

Everton

Rooney’s acrimonious departure from Goodison in 2004 caused a lot of anger in Merseyside. The prodigiously talented teenager was the Toffees new hope, but left just months after showing off a T-shirt declaring ‘Once a Blue, Always a Blue.’ A subsequent legal battle with Everton boss David Moyes over comments in the youngster’s autobiography did little to ease the tension. However, Rooney has never hidden the fact he remains a proud Evertonian. The main stumbling block, of course, is money. Rooney would have to take a hefty pay-cut to rejoin his boyhood heroes – something his agent is highly unlikely to encourage.

Inter Milan

The Italians still have the money made in Wesley Sneijder’s £8.5million move to Turkish side Galatasaray burning a hole in their pocket and are keen to freshen up their attack this summer. Volatile Antonio Cassano could be on his way out of the San Siro following a bust-up with coach Andrea Stramaccioni and Rooney would be the perfect replacement.

Bayern Munich

‘He is one of the greatest players in the world as there are very few players with his qualities,’ Munich manager in waiting Pep Guardiola once said of Rooney. The former Barca boss is sure to put his own stamp on the Germans and has been drawing up a potential shopping list. Liverpool striker Luis Suarez remains his number one target but a move for Rooney could also be on the cards.

Tottenham

If, as seems likely, Spurs qualify for the Champions League what better way to make their intentions for next season perfectly clear than a move for England’s number one striker? The one area that Tottenham have been lacking is up front and Rooney would be the ideal candidate to fill the void. If the lure of Madrid proves too strong for Gareth Bale, Tottenham will certainly not be short of the cash.

Real Madrid

Many believed that if Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were ever to be reunited it would be at Old Trafford, but could the pair link-up again at the Bernabeu instead? Madrid appear more interested in a move for Tottenham’s Garteh Bale, but Rooney still has many admirers in Spain.

Is this some alternate universe were rooney agrees to go to a title challenging spurs :wenger:

No. But neither is it some alternate universe where Spurs would be willing to swap Bale for Rooney.

Fool me once....shame on you.
Fool me twice....shame on me.

Rooney did this in 2010. He was welcomed back but the relationship with club and fans was never the same.
He wants away in 2013.
Let him go.
.....Chelsea.
He is not the player he was anyway.

He wouldnt get subbed off and he'd be able to stay in England. He has some power but with 2 years left he cant ask for everything. If he wants to stay in the premier league he'll have to go wherever we agree for him to go or he'll have to stay (and be a sub)

He'll stay once Moyes convinces him he's absolutely crucial to his plans.

So you think David Moyes first action as Manchester United manager should be to grovel at the feet of a player who doesnt want to be here and has tried to leave twice in three years.

Start as you mean to go on and show him who's boss. Let him leave and be successful without him
