What is Luis Suarez worth?

How long does he have left on his contract? I think 2-3 years of his service will benefit liverpool more than whatever fee they can get for him.

Agreed hp88 but once the money is outrageous we won't reject the offer. Still simple. :)

I'm of the same opinion. If we exceed expectations during those 2 years, then maybe he'd even extend. He has 2.5 years left on his contract.

If you can get him to keep performing at anything close to this level, you guys should let him run his contract down. Although I doubt he is professional enough to carry on instead of sulking but you never know.

Don't think the owners will allow him to run down his contract, Woody said the same thing about Rooney but I doubt we would ever let that happen.

Mind boggling that in the summer people thought he was worth less than £35m.

True - but can't be ignored that although he was world class last year, it was stained by numerous other incidents. Even from a footballing perspective, while world class as I said, he wasn't clearly better than the "2nd Tier" players after Ronaldo and Messi.

He has massively massively stepped up and pushed on this season. He has been sensational and it pains me to say it. The only player of his style who even compares is Aguero but right now, I'd even say Suarez is better.

I'd say Suarez is far better than Aguero. He is more team player and his assists prove that.

Wenger did up his £40 million offer tbf. Wonder if our owners would have been tempted if the Frenchman hadn't been such a smart-arse prick & offered another 10-15 million ? The way Suarez is playing now they'd have been running away with the league, & been serious contenders for the CL.

Oh well, I guess we'll never ever know.

We could afford to sign another player off rooney's quality though, liverpool would have found it much much harder seeing as where they finished last season. If they become a regular in the CL for the next two seasons and win some silverware ofcourse this statement will change but that will be hard.

He will eat the face off a baby at Stanford Bridge, when not concentrating on behaving himself, before the end of the season. So about 30 mill then.

I said last season that he was wasting far too many chances either by falling over or spooning them.
Sadly he's taking most of them now.

Yeah I think he's got better, simple as that. Less wasted chances. As much as he disgusts me, he's an amazing player

He only has 1 assist more than Aguero. Wouldn't say he's far better than him.

He may have only one more assist than Aguero, but look at the players he has around him to support him. Most of Aguero's team are world class, I mean Henderson, Lucas, Allen, Flanagan are hardly in the same league now are they? Secondly, Aguero is scoring a goal or has actively been involved in a goal every 66 minutes which is brilliant. Suarez on the otherhand is scoring a goal and actively been involved in a goal every 51 minutes. To put this into perspective, Ronaldo has scored 17 goals in the league with 4 assists which means a goal/assist every 62 minutes, and Messi a goal/assist every 62 minutes too. Again, factor in the fact that he is playing in a team with hugely inferior players who would never get in a Real Madrid or Barcelona side.

This stat is very impressive by itself but it becomes even more impressive if you take into account the fact that, unlike Ronaldo, Messi and Aguero, Suarez doesn't take pens.

It's a safe bet that he won't be able to sustain that rate of scoring goals as it is insane. Still, he is quite capable of breaking the record for most goals in a PL season.

I'ts not all about star names though. Liverpool are playing great football these days.

That goes both ways actually. Suarez won't rake up the same numbers in either of Barca or Madrid because of Messi and Ronaldo respectively. No two players in the same are going to get 60+ goals every season.

I know the stats, fact is I don't think he's far better than Aguero as the other poster claimed. How's anyone far better than a player with 20 goal contributions in 13 games?

Probably the 2nd best player in the World right now.

When he goes Liverpool will get fortunes. Probably a World record.

No doubt why they're trying to wrap up a new contract before the summer transfer season and WC.

Will he definitely go? Even Madrid may find it difficult to come up with the kind of cash that Liverpool will be asking for, specially after their expenditure on Bale. Chelsea may be the most viable option for him but doubt Liverpool will sell to them at all.

If we don't get into the CL then I doubt many at Anfield would begrudge the lad a big money move. If yesterday's performance starts to become the norm, & we are playing with Europe's big boys next season, he might seriously re-consider any thoughts he may have of wanting to play elsewhere.

All 'ifs' & 'buts' I suppose, but at this moment in time I certainly don't think it's a given that he'll not be with us next season.

I'm afraid he will actually stay with them for a lot longer now. He seems to tighten up some loose screws in his head already.

Ronaldo of course.

Just to pre-emt where you're going with this I said "right now" taking into consideration the fact Messi is injured.

Precisely why I take issue with such statements.

So, what, Rooney is better than Messi right now? Bale is better than too? Strurridge too?

No offense, but it's such a meaningless statement.

So form means nothing to you then Amol? I'd say form counts for a great deal in football thus judging someones form is pretty far from meaningless.

If it makes you feel any better I'll say he's the 3rd best player in the World in that case. After Messi and Ronaldo. In that order.

Also, Sturridge is injured also right now so no ;)

He's ridicilously good.

His finishing and composure, and his usage of energy has improved so much since the early days at Anfield. He still works tirelessly but he's concentrating on working in the final third where he's at his best.

No team can live with him at the moment he's that good. A more mature Suarez, like we've seen this season, is a frightening prospect.

He might keep Liverpool ahead of us this season. He just might.

I still think Aguero's better, albeit Suarez is producing the goods in a weaker side.

I disagree. Aguero's sensational but Suarez is the complete package. There's not one facet of his game that isn't top notch at the moment. His work-rate and relentless pursuit of goals, he's never happy with two or three goals he always wants more, makes him the better player.

Although both are top class obviously.

One great thing about Suarez from his teams point of view is he never picks up injuries. That said he has only to deal with one game a week. That said he has had to play the last two summers.

At 27 it amazing to think he has only even played in the group stages of the CL.

We can include their old hero Torres in a deal. Those scousers are a sentimental type.

Based on everything said about the bloke over the last few years. Suarez is box office, he is more likely to create something out of nothing. Anyway, the fact that you think Aguero is better than Suarez indicates that there's at least one person who's vastly overrating the Argentine.

I can see why the majority would rate Suarez higher, there's just something about Aguero for me, he makes it all look so effortless at times, I also think he's got a better overall game in terms of his contribution, although right now Suarez is definitely the better goalscorer.
