i mean it's no surprise they've cocked everything up, this was a group of MPs hastily jumping from their own party before they were deselected. Their logo should have been a life raft. Why the 'UK' tagged on to change? And why are they even pushing the independent angle still you can't be a party and also independent

It's still claiming to be an Independent Group. What are they independent of, if they're all standing for the same party? Are they all going to have personalised individual manifestos?
Theres a ton of people online that love the idea but asked them what policy should a centrist party have, they always fail to give a answer.

When you see things like this happening it really raises some questions.
Are the political class in this country just a bunch of people as thick as the rest of us who lucked (or networked) their way into positions of influence? Or is the job of 'being a politician' so hard that even the best and brightest amongst us struggle to do it without fecking everything up? Is there an issue with our political system that means parties either don't have the resources necessary to run their affairs competently or don't have the external oversight other organisations have to keep them in check? Or is it that the pool of those who choose a career in politics is self-selecting, and that ambitious, opinionated and ego-driven people who actively seek to wield political influence lack the mentality and skills required to run an organisation, never mind a country?

What a bizarre approach as well. Surely if you're a dedicated 'centrist' you'd understand it's much better to back the party that, despite its failings, at least has a somewhat solid history and a relatively solid base of voters to rely on with some key constituencies...even if that support base has been increasingly eradicated? Change UK are starting with feck all for the most part...really doesn't make sense.
I like the idea of moderates to a certain extent in that it's good to have people who are perhaps more flexible and varied in their ideology than those on the left or right, but yeah, it should be a sort of general starting point as opposed to some sort of end goal you hold yourself to. If literally the only political belief you hold is to be in the middle of everyone else then you don't really believe in anything at all.
Exactly my thoughts. Same problem the Dems face in the US. If your entire ethos is compromise, you stand for nothing.

I think centrism should have evidence based policies and lean towards realpolitik and pragmatism. As such, policies could come from all points on the political spectrum.
