Westminster Politics

If we're perhaps going to possibly give Rishi some credit and work out why he did this, did he do this to bounce the ERG out of the cabinet? Put her in to let them burn through any credit they think they have in short order.

But it makes his judgement look equally as bad as Truss if a Cabinet Minister has to resign soon after being appointed. I find it hard to believe him be appointed rested on appointing Braverman, surely he would have won anyway. This Tory party is a disease.

I think you underestimate how many in the right of the party wanted her in that position. It would have been a deal maker for a lot of them and United them behind him.

She will be gone shortly and Patel will be back.

He already had all of the support to get in. Surely he should have negotiated someone else from the right of the party if he was clever enough. A moron could see this would be an issue. Jake Berry has decided to go to town on him for being sacked.

That's my point though. Put Braverman in because she's too incompetent to be a threat and she'll likely hang herself in short order. I suppose this theory could be proved correct if her replacement is not from the ERG.

The issue is we all see that and see it as the obvious issue that it is. The Tory base see it and assume it's better for our leaders to be privately educated because they're fecking servile bootlickers.

That whole argument is just one amongst a large pile of other arguments that Labour failed to win.

Support to get in and support to govern are two different things.

Yeah appreciate that which is why he should probably should have gone for another right wing nut job.
He went for the right option if she’s removed and he can pick the replacement

The guy only entered politics 8 years ago and has just made PM, and you're all surprised he's a little bit good at the shady stuff?

As far as bounces go, it’s not a good one.

Makes the decision by Rishi to appoint her all the weirder. She isn't a political heavyweight, doesn't appear particularly clever, so what exactly is she bringing to the table?

Bojo, Truss, Mogg etc would all surely know all the dirty secrets. Wouldn't put it past them to be leaking to the press about her (and others) to undermine him.

Her supporters voted for him instead of Boris I'd imagine.

The Tories have looked knackered, clapped out, and desperately short of ideas for a quite a while now; their Queen’s speech earlier this year (I think in May) under Johnson was threadbare.

The reduced focus on Brexit in-particular and to a lesser extent Covid, has really exposed them and their lack of ideas.

It’s no surprise that many of their MPs think that they need to recharge in opposition, some admitting that to journalists, although unless they’re standing down at the next election they of course won’t want to the defeat to be heavy enough to cost them their own seats.

After fecking the country into a round hole both socially and economically they then don’t want to govern it? Kind of makes sense actually

It makes me giggle that some people think Sir Kier ‘knows’ what it’s like to be struggling. He is from a working class background this is true. He went to a Grammar School, Oxford University and Leeds University. He came from a Communist supporting family and he is now worth about £8 million according to Google. Yes, it’s bit short of the close to a billion Sunak has trousered, but they have both worked for it and paid taxes. A lot of the sniping from Labour MP’s is jealousy. Personally, I would rather have someone who understands economics and the markets than some career politician that just knows how to fill in their expenses. Richard Burgon the terror of the Tories is a millionaire, attended Cambridge and is as far Left as they can get. Champagne Socilaist like Gary Neville. They are all the same, either rampant ideologists or cruising through life getting paid for doing very little.

Sunak is also only worth a billion due to his wife inheriting the same from her father.

FFS…

He knows what it’s like to come from a family that needed two parents to work, to pay for things.

£8m is as closer to pay check to pay check than £1billion

Sunak has not paid taxes.

Sunak doesn’t understand economics, he knows How to exploit the economy.

Starmer has been an MP for less time than Sunak.

If your post was a joke, fair go. Consider me on the hook. But good lord if it wasn’t you’ve managed to get absolutely everything wrong in pursuit of a point. Bravo.

If you’re rich you get accused of being a champagne socialist. If you’re poor you get accused of envy. Can’t win with some people unless you’re a cnut

Working class kid that had nothing, excels at everything in a narrow space and becomes an asset millionaire, then tries To help everyone that had the same upbringing = How dare you

Upper class Cnut that had everything, achieves a passing grade at nonsensical shit nobody cares about, as they funnel themselves into power = deserved

This country deserves the Tories on so many fronts.
