Westminster Politics

Blair and his ministers were also economical with the truth about the legal opinion on the Iraq conflict. That IMO was contempt which took the country to war killing hundreds of troops and scores of innocent Iraqis' and untold chaos which is still ongoing.

Blair should be in prison, not on TV.
Who the feck made him the public face for the argument to chuck brexit?

This country needs to buck up its ideas. I was in my first or second year of uni when this thing was approved and construction hasn't even started.

So its generally considered that the Maybot is pretty rubbish... her deal is massively unpopular and generally she seems clueless and incapable of leading the country

Yet somehow almost 50% more people think she makes a better PM than st Jezza

ooooooh jeremy corbyn indeed ....

its such a tragedy that at such an important time there are two such ineffectual leaders at the head of the two major parties in the uk

If labour somehow manage to force another election (I think they will struggle as the DUP has said it will back the government in a confidence motion) then honestly I still think its going to be the political equivalent of Ronny Rosenthal against villa and labour will gash it up

How do you solve this problem though? Even if such schools did not exist, there is nothing stopping rich people from employing private tutors for their children to help them get an edge over others. In principle, I agree that this is problematic in terms of privilige giving a select few a head start to suceede. But when it comes to education and healthcare, I believe the best you can do is ensure free universal benefits for the whole population to a certain excellent standard. But you can't frame rules to stop people from spending more money to get better benefits in private institutions.

One change that should be made is that such private institutions should not get any Govt subsidy of any kind. They also should be treated strictly as for-profit organisations.

Your argument there assumes that the advantage is increased intelligence/education where in reality oxbridge take into account how prestigious of a school you went to and these schools are basically pay for grade.

These articles come out every year and one of the constants identified is that those from elite schools don't outperform others when at university because they're no longer spoon fed.

I don't have an idea about the studies you refer to. In any case only way that get rid of such bias is to have evtrance exams that are prevalent in India and other Asian countries. But it is worth acceptingthe fact that people associated with certain privileged institutions will get some advantage or benefit of doubt when it comes to getting opportunities. Some one with Harvard on their resume will always be given some extra consideration over someone from state college.

Posted this in the Brexit one too... No confidence declaration incoming tomorrow it seems.

There are a lot of idiots who have been easily persuaded into thinking Corbyn will put us in danger with his stance on war, despite the truth surely being the opposite.
They’ve also fallen for the many other lies and smears about him, and for some reason seem to be trying to stick it to everyone else by being Tory all of a sudden, similar to the way many voted Brexit because they’re bitter cnuts.

If she wins the confidence vote she cannot be challenged as Conservative leader for at least another year
