Presumably, Starmer is still isolating he just wrote this: https://www.theguardian.com/comment...ption-conservative-owen-paterson-keir-starmerIs there a list of who abstained?
Edit found it

Starmer?... is he still off with covid?
What about wrong daily etc... who was absent and who abstained?
Yeah let’s conflate them altogether because a few labours abstained, that’s completely reasonable.28 Labour MPs didn’t vote? That would have stopped it? They’re all the same.
I wonder how many of the 28 were absent for one reason or another rather than abstaining?https://www.theguardian.com/comment...erson-keir-starmer?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

The list i linked only shows no vote recorded... it does not say who was present or notYou don't usually abstain in absence, there's the whole proxy vote system.

Well there you go then. They didn't abstain, they couldn't vote due to no proxy system in place. The Tories got rid of it.
I think there is truth to this theroy; the immovable proportions of both those that will vote Tory and think Brexit is good are pretty much the same. It's a weird one as I genuinely think that Brexit voters for example actually cannot now vote against Boris, as it would mean that he wasn't their saviour, that he hasn't taken them to the promised lands of sunlit uplands. It would just mean he is what he is, a self-righteous bigoted piece of shit!

There is no proxy vote system. There is only one if someone is away for childbirth or child related stuff. There was something in place for the pandemic but that has now expired in July I believe and the Tories (Rees Mogg) didn't want to carry it on.
I kind of agree. BoJo has become the fulfilment, embodiment of their concpiracy theory ("britannia ruled the world when it was not in the eu"). Voting against BoJo must be hard for Brexiteers, probably as hard as for anti-vaxxers getting jabbed. It's a weird one as I genuinely think that Brexit voters for example actually cannot now vote against Boris, as it would mean that he wasn't their saviour, that he hasn't taken them to the promised lands of sunlit uplands. The pairing system predates the pandemic they've been doing it for yonks it was just formalised with the pandemic because it was never a proper arrangement. The whips are supposed to sort it all.
Claudia Webbe being sentenced tomorrow, be surprised if she isn’t jailed.
I think that's nonsense tbh. There's no way at least some of those red wall and Sunderland, Hull etc traditional Labour strongholds that went blue for Brexit don't start getting pissed and looking for an alternative home. It's a weird one as I genuinely think that Brexit voters for example actually cannot now vote against Boris, as it would mean that he wasn't their saviour, that he hasn't taken them to the promised lands of sunlit uplands. We need new laws to deal with corruption in public office. And talk of suspension and resigning doesn't cut it, there should be trial and substantial prison sentences.
And while it's obvious some Tory MPs are corrupt as feck I believe things are just as bad in local government, with Labour councillors very much involved as well as Tories. The odd one has been convicted of course, but it's the tip of the iceberg for me.
