The people running this country.

I am not even surprised or mad. Just resigned. This country is in the gutter.

This is insane, it legitimately looks like a satirical TV show, even down to the movement of the camera.
All that was missing was a zoom in on one of the background characters looking deadpan at the lens.

Anyway, I lost hope for this country & the electorate years ago.

We’re utterly fecked with these clowns in charge. Despite all the corruption, unlawful behaviour & general incompetence, I still don’t see anything other then them winning again next time.

They only need about 40% to get a majority. Left wing votes are divided between Labour, Lib Dem & Green. It’s similar in Canada. Right wing voters mostly unite behind the Conservatives but the left is split between the Liberals, NDP & Greens.

Johnson doesn’t even need half of the voting public behind him to do what he likes.

So what does everybody make of the expected NI increase?
I'm pretty shocked they've chosen to use NI to do this. I've always thought NI was a pretty shitty thing anyway due to how it's only applied to those of a working age and it's lower rate for higher earners (presumably as a balancing act for the higher rate for income taxes). To increase the rate of NI is quite the middle finger to those on average and lower wages.

The justice secretary said he would not "speculate" but said there should be a "grown-up conversation" about how to pay for rising social care costs.

The move would break a Tory manifesto commitment at the last election.

"The British public are sensible enough to know that when it comes to the issue of social care we have to find some way in which it will be adequately funded," Mr Buckland told BBC Breakfast

Why does every single word out of their mouths ooze with condescension?!

Interesting thread

With the way this is being trailed I could see it actually being a rise on employer ni contributions only

Then spun as keeping their word on no individual ni rises and companies paying back the country for the support they received through covid

If they don't implement it that way they are being stupid

i struggle with the idea that after everything over the last decade, that the tories arent fully aware of the impacts the NI increase would have on ever increasing inequality.

#taxthepoor

Funny that so many working class people fell for the trick of increasing the personal tax allowance and increasing minimum wage (which was a lib dem demand to form part of the coalition if I remember) while also increasing VAT, one of the most regressive taxes we have and had any social safety net and local services stripped back and still feel like they have been done a massive favour by the Tories.

This is just a further bite at the cherry and no doubt they will get away with it due to the number of mouthbreathing cnuts we have in this country.

Bollocks, once again making the wrong people pay for something.

Surely with the amount of jobs going now we can get more people into work than ever before and make the money that way?

Also because we left the EU what happened to that 350mill a day we were apparently sending them?

It's going to get to the point it is pretty pointless working soon enough, every pay rise gets met with price hikes of food anyway, then they expect to just start taxing us more, and now a NI increase. It's all bullshit.

Stop paying companies billions of pounds for doing feck all would be a start to saving the country money. No matter what party is running the country they're all a bunch of knobs.

Hard to remember what a government not run by Tory cnuts was like though. John Major's government is probably the closest in my lifetime

The only chance Major had of winning an election was to convince everyone his party had totally changed after Thatcher. Labour have a similar task today, and they're failing at the moment, but we'll see.

Just seen on the news them comparing UK and Germany way of dealing with the NI stuff, says Germany still pay it one pensions, so I see where this is going  I'll eventually retire at 86 and have some of my pension taken off me
