Westminster Politics

Some people above are so entrenched in their own political side, that their first thought on a thread about Hancock's sleaze is to moan about Starmer!:wenger:

Just wondering what differentiates this scandal from the long list of them Starmer has flat out refused to call for him to lose his job over.

This one was impossible to ignore. Whereas the other stuff, the government would have to accept it was a disgrace - which they won't.

Guy who has set / bored on about the policy - breaking the policy.
It's such an outrageous situation he's had to quit.

Boris not sacking him is an outrage.

Such a shame he didn't end up grabbing the arse of everyone he handed out a NHS contract to.

It’s almost always the minister who resigns. Perfectly normal. There’s easy pickings when it comes to criticising Boris - this is not something to criticise him about in my opinion.

What a morally-corrupt man he must be. Mind you, the extra-marital stuff was less damaging than finding out she was also working as a Non-Exec at the Department of Health. They're supposed to scrutinise the Ministerial team, which is a bit difficult to do objectively if you're having an affair with the top man.

Boris is hardly in a position to censure a colleague for simply being a lothario. Sadly, there are no more John Profumos left in politics, that's for sure.

He's fallen on his sword and they'll keep pushing the social distancing and, if need be, affair stuff as the narrative until the next big story distraction comes along in the 24 hour news cycle. If they're lucky, which they will be, the deeper story about cronyism and her family recieving shitloads of taxpayer's cash will barely be a footnote.

I say they'll be lucky because we have;
a) media run by their mates
b) opposition parties with the courage levels of a rather moist shitty napkin.

Not surprised hancock has gone as he was always going to be thrown under the bus in any covid enquiry... but saj... thats a bit of a shock after his (very) brief chancellorship
Who else would they have gone for? Pob? Slim pickings in this Tory party.

Would be funny if she doesn't want to be with him, and he just ends up losing absolutely everything. I say funny but, because it's actually quite a horrible situation for their respective spouses and children, what I really mean is "fecking hilarious".

Hands up all those who haven't bent the lockdown rules over the past 15 months.
I’m from Ireland but yeah pretty much cannot think of anything I’ve done wrong in our country

Also I don’t make the rules that folks are required to obey

Good to see Starmer finally say that it was time for Hancock to go. The PPE shortage, care home deaths, delays in test and trace/the extortionate price of the woeful app and contracts to mates were not the time, so glad this much bigger and important scandal is.

I mean that's classic right, this yoke scrapes the bottom of the barrel & the first thing you think of is Starmer?

Stepping down because of one miserly workplace affair, is he even a tory?

Hands up all those who haven't bent the lockdown rules over the past 15 months.

Why. Have you?
The difference is that we, the general public don't make the rules and don't go on TV telling everyone what they must and must not do and then do exactly the opposite.

Cummings isn’t a fan - he seems to lack the self awareness to realise him tricking the PM into sacking a minister makes him sound like a detestable cnut. Also liking the narrative of Sunak being responsible for furlough despite every other major country doing something fecking similar.

#regimechage... I mean that sounds a bit coup like?
