Westminster Politics

That would be ridiculous, it's every Muslim in Britain - as shown by the rag she wrote it in citing her in 'The Muslim Problem' article that has been doing the rounds ("Thanks to [...] Labour MPs such as Rotherham's Sarah Champion, it is acceptable to say Muslims are a specific rather than a cultural problem" see below). She made the decision to write for a newspaper that had already published (amongst many things) an article labelling asylum seekers as cockroaches and a quietly corrected front page saying 1 in 5 British Muslims sympathised with ISIS.

Yeah she wrote for them, but I'm not sure you can blame her for the paper's wrongdoings. Otherwise everyone who writes for that shit paper would be a racist. It's a bit strong but I don't see too much wrong with what she wrote.

She wrote for it, lending it the thinnest veneer of credibility and giving them exactly the sort of 'evidence' they want. At best she's a fecking idiot for not recognising it would happen.

She might well be a fecking idiot, I hadn't heard of her before this blew up.

Unfortunate as i thought she was a likeable politician than might win voters over. In political land you have to go over this kind of mistake, especially as a Labour bencher. Now if she were Tory it could just be swept under the carpet.

Or, that especially as a Labour bencher there must be all attempts made to engage with this topic openly and frankly. Own the solutions, not only for these abused white girls but the young Asian women suffering behind closed doors in different ways. The mainstream knows what it risks inviting if it opts to shy away from issues: right now the far-right parties in England are diminished, let's keep it that way.

It's as if the election never happened for Theresa and it seems for some in the general public. People have quickly forgotten how incompetent she came across which IMV is a good reflection of her general competence on most issues.

With a little help from the media's refusal to discuss her for any length of time. Notice how quickly the Venezuela talking point disappeared after it came out that we'd been arming them?

Nine G4S staff at immigration removal suspended
G4S has suspended nine members of staff from an immigration removal centre near Gatwick Airport, following a BBC Panorama undercover investigation.
The programme says it has covert footage recorded at Brook House showing officers "mocking, abusing and assaulting" people being held there.
It says it has seen "widespread self-harm and attempted suicides" in the centre, and that drug use is "rife"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41121692

I think the logic of 'if we give G4S contracts for everything, they'll have to be good at something' has run its course.

I have noticed how quiet any news has been about the Government since the Election. Trump / North Korea has been grabbing all of the headlines since the Election. Lucky May.

The Prime minister is going to be really angry with the home office minister who in charge of his facility for the past few years

The media are ridiculously biased it's not even funny any more.

I don't think I've even seen Theresa May on TV nor have I read/heard anything from her except her expressing great sadness about Big Ben since the aftermath of the election.

Next Tory leader.

Glad I've been proven right with that guy. Never liked him.
If you remember, Labour MPs are supposed to want to be friends with people like this.

I'm really looking forward to how Jacob's bezzie, Jess Phillips manages to turn this into an attack on Dianne Abbott or Corbyn. She's on a roll after retweeting someone highlighting the abuse Dianne Abbott gets and seemingly keeping a straight face whilst doing it.

Pseudo-intellectual prick

*EDIT* For the sake of clarity, I'm talking about Jacob Rees-Mogg, not the previous posters.

She's learned absolutely nothing it seems. The Tories sitting on their hands to see if she improves won't be happy with this performance

I remain certain Jacob Rees-Mogg isn't actually a Tory, but is playing a satirical character for the long con. There's no way he's a real person.

Well, he and his cronies know a thing or two about being 'morally indefensible'.

Same could be said of so many other Tories really

Rees-Mogg just nails every aspect you'd need for parody though. The accent. The double-barreled surname. The look. His social viewpoints. His general demeanor. He just nails everything you'd expect in a lazily written Tory caricature.

After some time to reflect on his statements, I can see where Jacob is coming from. The last time Theresa May had a bigot with out-of-date, religious based, views on homosexuality and abortion to deal with she ended up giving them £1.5bn.
