Wesley Sneijder

Hasn't he really just confirmed that it is unlikely that anything will happen in the short period that remains of the transfer window- but that everything is possible in football?

A real Muppet see opportunities in such a statement....

It all boils down to whether Fergie wants him still. He seemingly wants to leave and Inter want to sell. I bet Fergie will sit his coaching team down today and analyse the feasibility still of getting him after witnessing our football in the last 3 weeks

We really should consider making transfer threads optional participation.

It really isn't fair on the people who are forced to participate in them, thus making them provide the obligatory "close the thread" comment...

This thread is still open?! And it's still full of the same muppets posting the same old shite!

Sneijder isn't come to United - this much was obvious many weeks ago.

C'mon lads, you're going to make yourselves ill!

The Holland international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, although Manchester United have constantly maintained they are not interested in a deal.

With the transfer window closing tomorrow, the 27-year-old does not anticipate any last-minute surprises following the 20million euros sale of Cameroon forward Eto'o earlier this month.

Sneijder told Dutch newspaper AD: "It was either me or Eto'o to leave Inter and since he has now gone there is no need for Inter to sell me."
He added: "It would be very strange if something happened now.
"Things can move fast but there is nothing going on behind the scenes.

"It has been very quiet despite all the rumours."

Sneijder joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2009 and helped the Nerazzurri win the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in his first season in Milan.
The former Ajax star was limited by injuries to just four goals in 25 league appearances for the club last term.

Inter finished runners-up in Serie A but won the Coppa Italia.
Sneijder is under contract with Inter until June 2015.

Ah well. If true the dream was fun whilst it lasted. :D

Exactly there are some retards in this thread who have just posted "close the thread" at every turn. If the likes of Wr8 are banned from transfer forum, then I don't know why these people aren't banned.

Good news!

I posted, totally at will.

I feel more sorry for the "delete the thread" brigade, for whom just knowing it still exists sends their soul into a state of erternal torment.

good idea - it'll save these poor people the trauma of having to post or worse read this stuff

Tbf, I think some of the blind optimism regarding Sneijder suggests some posters are already ill.

I have a theory, the "anti muppets" are the biggest muppets. They just can't handle us not getting a player and that's why they get so worked up over these threads.

To some, being not a transfer muppet on a board = Top Red

Equally embarassing because inside their hearts crave for Sneijder as well but just afraid to say it out

Agreed, it's just pretentious. Wanting us to sign a top quality player is normal and participating in the discussion is very harmless in my opinion. We all realize that the chances of us getting Sneijder are slim and most of us are just having fun with it, the "anti muppets" just take things way too seriously.

Transfer muppets get a rough deal here sometimes - not every muppet is an idiot who wants us to sign big names just for the sake of it. Anyone can see that we've a great, exciting team and perhaps we don't actually need the likes of Wes Sneijder (in fact, it'd be interesting to see how our young players cope without a 'star name' aiding them). Still, that signing or another big deal would certainly remind people that we too (and not just City, Chelsea, Barca, Real, Anzhi and PSG) are in rude financial health.

Besides, it's just human nature in action when people seek-out all manner of links, hints, rumours etc - it's no different to the reader's approach when reading a novel; we're naturally curious and we love to try working out a mystery, to decipher what might be the truth and, sure, we often like to be the one who solves the mystery first. It's human nature, that's all, and certainly not exclusive to so-called transfer muppetry.

I'm as much of a muppet as anyone regarding potential signings, but even the most blinkered optimist must admit it's all over, and has been for weeks. Everything from SAF, Gill and Sneijder points to this

Exactly. The likes of Crustanoid, Drifter, Kelvin, Blair are biggest muppets on here and it's not a surprise that they've been here telling people to close the thread. It also makes me laugh that Plan M preaches here about Top Redism despite creating that (We won't won the league) thread last season fairly early in the season.

Haha, "transfer muppets get a bad rep", "everyone wants him in their hearts", "those who don't like what we're saying should get out". "wr8 shouldn't be banned"

There is people here who scour twitter, every single rumour website, and post about a player hundreds of times, whose never played for our great football club. When there is a strong link with a player, then yes by all means, I imagine everyone gets excited, but there hasn't been anything excited about this thread in a long time. Instead it's filled with people who want a shiny new play thing instead of being happy with the awesome squad we've got.

wr8 insulted me in several threads because I had the audacity to question why people were posting about Sneijder when Man United were playing a match. Not just any match but matches against Man City or our opening league match.

You see it everywhere on this forum "We NEED to buy a midfielder" "We can't compete with Barca without new signings".

We've just beaten three very good teams quite easily scoring some fecking magnificent goals, with three of our new signings making very big contributions in some of those wins, and yet still this thread gets bumped, and you get people talking about "perspective"

Exactly. I've never/hardly slated any of our players, however it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the possibility of signing a world class player will bring genuine excitement to the fans here and before anyone says that it never started, they're clearly living in delusion.

There's no smoke without fire. The likes of Maulensteen and Sneijder himself has spoken about this topic, there's definite interest. Whether we sign him is entirely different/.

Speaking of idiots, Twigginater has just entered this thread.

Twigg, there's decent arguments for and against new signings but practically the first person to speak about replacing Scholes with a top-class player was Sir Alex himself. However, like most United fans, if SAF feels we can do without a big name then that's absolutely fine; he's been right too often for anybody to differ.

So what, people are allowed to talk about what they want and post their own opinions on any subjects regardless of how stupid they seem, also it doesn't matter that they're posting in here whilst a a match is on, I've seen some of the stupid crap thats posted in the match day threads. As a great man once said "Look in a mirror brother!"

See the thing is no-one is saying it's weird to want a world class player. Like you say SAF spoke about it, and perhaps we were looking around for a similar player to Sneijder this summer.

However when it gets to the point where people are posting every twitter rumour from "Footballagent7" or "ITK1994" and talking about him when matches are on, it gets silly. Some people generally seem to like the transfers more than the game of football itself, which is weird to me.

It seems to be a culture creeping into football. I have a Liverpool fan on twitter who goes on all the time about transfers. He'll tweet to all the journos asking about transfer updates, then he's not even watched the last 2 Liverpool games! He goes out and asks for score updates on twitter.

It's not just that Liverpool fan though it's everywhere. Sky Sports and papers can sell more by constantly making up and manipulating transfer stories. Site likes Football365 and talksport deal constantly with transfer talk. "Sneijder will sign in 24 hours, he definitely wants to go there etc etc etc" and then it gets posted here and then the same idiots can say "it's on" and post mupper pictures. Then the same sites say it's not happening and we get dozens of pictures of Kermit committing suicide.

It's ok to WANT a new player. It's a bit weird to take it as far as a lot of people do on redcafe. Where they have hundreds of post in the transfer forum, and not much elsewhere. Like I said, when I piss people off because I question why they're posting about Sneijder during a game, you know it's gone too far.

Yeah of course they can. People can then also post their opinion on how stupid they're being.

And of course it's stupid that people post during a match. The only reason we're all here is because we follow Manchester United, and if the way to support your club is to post in a transfer forum during the only 90 minutes a week the club plays, you've got to wonder why you bother at all IMO.

Uter bollocks.

To be fair this thread has kept a lot of posters entertained during a period where there wasn't much football.I see no harm in speculation and if it offends anyone then don't enter the thread as you know whats here. It's like a gay man who is ashamed of himself sneaking a peek at the gay channels or mags then calling gay people faggots or bummers in front of his mates to make himself look tough, thou doth protest too much ;)

To be fair, it's absurd (couldn't find a lesser word for thus) to post about Sneijder when a United match is going on. Hell i couldn't even understand why people would want to post on here when the match is on, all i want to do is just sit in front of the telly and watch us play

So, basically, what you're saying is that Twigg's a homosexual?

I wonder what percentage of the 13116 posts in this thread are arguing the merits of the threads very existence. If it was kept purely to discussion of the player I doubt this thread would have seen more than 100 pages.

Let me get this straight..

So Sky Sports say the deal is not going to happen but this Dutch expert that says he has connections thinks it might come down to the last day? But we should close the thread...?

Okay!

Are there any counsellors frequenting The Caf? I'm pretty sure that the powers that be here have a duty of care to provide a 'Sneijder didn't sign counselling thread', in order to prevent mass suicides.

YESSSSS. Not happening, absolutely exhilarated. Delighted with this news.

Yeah of course they can. People can then also post their opinion on how stupid they're being.

I don't understand why it bother's you so much. The issues seem to be with you and you alone. Why do you take the time to participate in a thread you admit you have no interest in, simply to criticise the behaviour of other poster's?

Furthermore why do you feel the need or even think you have the right to dictate to people what they should or should not be doing while a match is playing?

If it bother's you that much why not start your own thread, make your case and you can discuss it with other poster's who agree with you or not, in there?
