Wesley Sneijder

Everyone's already riding on a massive high, the feel good factor if he joined now would be pretty nifty.

The statement made by Gill isn't definitive.

Spoke to my sources earlier today and was told that nothing is happening - although we'd still be happy to sign him.

From my understanding we're p***** off at being given the runaround this summer. Inter want it to happen (at the right price of course). Sneijder came out and said he wants it to happen. My source implies that it could be the agent.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see a last-day offer put in to get him. Think we seem to be certain that Inter are having financial problems (as are all of Italy as the country's about to go broke!)

When I stated that my sources said we'd still be happy to have him last week I was laughed out of town. now Rene Meulensteen has confirmed it.

Still not sure if we'll sign him but I think we will. Going to be a nail-biting Final day. Wonder if we'll get up to 500,000 by Wednesday!

Does the transfer window close at 23:00 or 24:00 on Wednesday?

Or alternatively was put up to this by SAF to achieve an end that we can't get our head 'round.

:smirk:

I'm sure your source can tell you.

Marcel Van de Kraan says Rene Meulensteen quotes 'we are working on a transfer' arent to be doubted - but that doesnt mean it will go through.

Either way, I've got Wednesday off from work

 Brophs!

Stirring it up a day before the deadline eh? Basically it's Sneijder's loss if he doesn't accept a lower wage than what he would want. He's not in the position to bargain, I reckon. We've already seen we can do without him in our squad, and if he decides to stay at Inter, he'll be burdened with "poor tactics" and a "formation that doesn't suit" him.

In my opinion if Sneijder does sign (I doubt it) then he'll be replacing Berba. The formation will change from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 or 4-4-1-1 with Sneijder as the spearhead in midfield and Rooney/Chica/Welbeck upfront. We would still see the 4-4-2 system in action with the smaller teams.

Will be interesting to see how he links up with Forlan, and how they fit them in with Milito.

Milan had a lot of success with 4312, perhaps Inter could use it at times as well.

I know Citeh pride themselves on the quality of their bench but buying Sneijder just to sit him on the bench instead of Berba is a ridiculous idea.

Would Sneijder make it in to our Carling Cup team then?

If we do sign Sneijder (I doubt it) then he'll be a first teamer, covering the role, Berba have struggled to cover in the past few years. He'll play just behind Rooney or Chica and act as link man behind midfield and forward line dropping deep (deep lying playmaker)or go more forward (traditional trequartista role) if needed. Such situation will give us options since we can convert our game from that of 4-3-2-1 with the 3 midfielders sitting deep while allowing the flanks to create havoc to a 4-4-1-1 with Sneijder in a more forward position behind chica or Rooney.

Switching to a new formation just to accommodate Sneijder would be stupid.

Its not about 'accommodating Sneijder' but making the most out of the talent available. We were never shy in switching systems when needed because of that. We changed from 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 to take the best out of Ronaldo for example. Such system won us our last CL title and took us to another CL final. We returned to 4-4-2 because Valencia's skills (less technically gifted then Ronaldo but more hardworking) were more suited to that system then to the 4-2-3-1 system.

Sneijder & Anderson in the centre of midfield.

Or Anderson, Sneijder, Cleverley - Nani, Young, Rooney for away games.

I'm hoping we don't sign Sneijder, it would be a waste of money. We don't need him at all.

Okay, I need a little fix before wednesday to keep me going, planning on watching the whole fecking thing from 6 straight to 2 in the morning(Norwegian timezone.)

Of course Harry will be at hand to ease my worries about a lack of action on deadline day, but we need something else.

So who of you sickos have come up with a somewhat plausible explanation for all the denials, and are still convinced that Sneijder will join? Come on, someone do the dirty work, we all need that glimmer of hope come wednesday! Muppets unite, this is it!

Fairly clever of the media savvy Sneidjer to spend all summer being linked to the biggest club in the world.

Bet it hasn't hurt his name recognition.

Pretty short list of Holland Internationals that have played for United as well.
