Before Chicha, when was the last time a Mexican played for United? What about a Portuguese player before Ronaldo? (maybe there was but, for life of me can't recall one). What about S. Korean before Park?

When it comes to individual talents, does it matter if someone from their country played for United X number of years ago? No.

I am all for Germans coming to United because they are bloody good. You mistook me. I meant Fergie rarely buys Germans.

Same argument though - I very much doubt nationality enters into SAF or anyone at United's mind when looking at players. It needs to be a player that he thinks will fit, one that will be worth what they think will be the approx asking price and perhaps a player that will be willing to move to Manchester.

In the case of Schweiny - I think he's probably the best possible option out there for United but, also probably know that no way will Bayern sell, Schweiny really doesn't want to leave (just posturing to get more money) and as such don't even make a move.

Like Sneijder says he talks to people all the time. You can probably bet good money that teams have a good idea if a player would be amenable to moving to certain clubs/countries based on unofficial talks that take place.

Germans's typically don't play outside of Germany, at least not the top ones. So if Fergie rarely buys Germans, it's the same reason other clubs rarely buy Germans - they rarely come available for a move outside the country.

How much do you think Schweni is going to cost? £15m? Gotze is more of a winger than a central attacking mid. He plays on the wings for both Dortmund and Germany. And when was the last time a German played for Man Utd?

Götze is the correct signing. I know your thread gets more attention, but I was the first poster to recognise his talent and devote a thread to him.

We cannot afford to miss out on a talent as big as Götze.

We most certainly can and will.

I doubt we will sign him. It's been way too quiet imo.

I was wondering about this before. There's been bits and pieces about whether we've bid, unofficial contac etc etc, but in the last 48 hours, since the rumour that a fee was agreed and his representatives were holding talks, there's been nothing.

I think it's either not happening or we'll just have an announcement out of nowhere about a deal being agreed and a medical happening. Then 3 days later it'll be on Sky Sports News :D

Delete as appropriate:

I think this (latest news / lack of news) means Sneijder (will sign / won't sign).

...and then punch yourself in the face because you know feck all.

Repeat the above every few hours until you realise you're wasting your life and find something better to do.

Of course something is happening, otherwise why would sneijder say the things that he did on camera?

We just have to be patient...

sneijder or no sneijder ( hoping he will sign) roll on 31st august when all this stops for 3 months ...and lets play football..

Enjoying Ibiza!!! Just a great Island...

Heinze...German?

Why?

Gabriel Heinze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Gabriel Iván Heinze (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈeinse]; born 19 April 1978 in Utter cnut, Germany) is a German traitor playing for that big place beside the Falkland Islands footballer who plays for A.S. Roma in Italy. Mainly an absolute & complete Judas cnut but Defender (association football), he can also operate as a central defender.

Nicknamed Bastard Judas cnut ("foreigner" in Argentine Spanish),[1][2] he made a name for himself at Paris Saint-Germain, moving in 2004 to Manchester United, and subsequently to Real Madrid, winning three major titles with the latter two.

Heinze has played 71 times for with Argentina, representing the nation at two World Cups and as many Copa América tournaments..."

Interesting:

Twitter

"Last night we had a party at Space! Love my sisters!! X kiss from Ibizaaa!! "- Yolanthe Cabau.

Not much to see from her husband. Didnt mention him neither.

BTW: She's freakin hot.

bit later than normal.

It's nothing special, just a regular pre-match press conference.

Nick Coppack
Usually they are at 9:30am. Sometimes they are at 12pm. Tomorrow's is at 12pm. Big deal. Don't read anything into it.

Honestly, some people checking flight schedules to see if flights from Ibiza to Manchester arrive in time for a 12pm unveiling... #desperate

That is a bit #desperate to try and make a correlation with the pre-match presser time to Sneijder story, then so far as to try and figure out when flights would be landing to make it fit even more.

Now I just wish Sunday would get here and we can talk about Berba's hattrick against weak opposition instead.

We have players already that can compliment the full range of midfield types, that isn't a problem, defensively we have Fletch and Carrick, all-round we have Anderson, attacking we have Giggs and Tom. What we "need" is a world class footballer that is superb on the ball.

Diarra's performance was massively over-rated, Pepe did a better job.

So now Sneijder isn't quick and can't dribble well or use his strength? Have you never seen the guy play?

To be honest, we're not really in a position to conclusively say that Sneijder would work well in our midfield, or with a particular partner that we have, which was my point. I know that Inter played two or three mobile midfield destroyers behind him in Europe, but we don't have that option available.

I've actually seen quite a lot of him in the last couple of years, but only now and then before that. I don't think Sneijder puts in the work as Wilshere does, or that he dribbles as much (around 50 dribbles from him last season according to Sky Sports). He's a completely different player to Wilshere though, if you'd watched him enough then you'd know this.

Yepp everyone across the world think that Wilshere is better then Sneijder. :wenger:

I never said that, But now you mention it, I reckon he will be soon. Sneijder has never been such an amazing player until we are apparently interested and half of you decide to suddenly overrate him. It's like RAWK in this thread, I bet they're laughing at the delusion in this thread.

FWIW, I reckon Wilshere will turn out to be better than Sneijder. He's got more to his game.
