He might help us out, or we might do just as well even if we don't sign him. One thing I do feel is that Wesley Sneijder isn't going to bridge the gap between us and Barca, which is what most people are pinning their hopes on.
Personally, It'd be quite a hollow feeling for me if we go out and buy Sneijder for the sort of money being talked about. We laught at City for trying to buy success, but if you're spending big money on these players then success isn't really an achievement, more of an expectation. This is why it feels hollow to me.
When we were after Berbatov I thought he'd be a good buy for £20 million or less, but when the price hit £30 million it sort of became a requirement that he was outstanding for us. I'd rather see us nurture our players and let them get success here so they can look back on their years here as their proudest. Can we say this will be the case for Sneijder? I very much doubt it. I don't know any other player, apart from Owen maybe, that wouldn't say the highlight of his career was playing for us.
