Where are "new" players' profiles on manutd.com when we need them?

No profiles on manutd.com = shite transfer window.

Oh, and I hope we'll get to 10,000 today.

318 posts yet.

If we get him, I'm happy, if we don't, I'm still happy. We're clear favourites for the league either way. He might help us big time in Europe though..

You are a little over confident don't you think? The season has not even started. Anything can happen!

So what has actually happened in the 8 oddhours I've been asleep?

Theres a lot more excitement this morning

Reports from BBC sources that Inter and United have reached a 33 million pound agreement for Sneijder...

He might help us out, or we might do just as well even if we don't sign him. One thing I do feel is that Wesley Sneijder isn't going to bridge the gap between us and Barca, which is what most people are pinning their hopes on.

Personally, It'd be quite a hollow feeling for me if we go out and buy Sneijder for the sort of money being talked about. We laught at City for trying to buy success, but if you're spending big money on these players then success isn't really an achievement, more of an expectation. This is why it feels hollow to me.

When we were after Berbatov I thought he'd be a good buy for £20 million or less, but when the price hit £30 million it sort of became a requirement that he was outstanding for us. I'd rather see us nurture our players and let them get success here so they can look back on their years here as their proudest. Can we say this will be the case for Sneijder? I very much doubt it. I don't know any other player, apart from Owen maybe, that wouldn't say the highlight of his career was playing for us.

I really don't care about money, that's for the press to obsess over. My take on it is, if SAF really wants Sneijder, he has something really interesting up his sleeve concerning the midfield as a whole (Jones as a DM? A Sneijder - Cleverley 2 man midfield? Or maybe a 4-3-3 with Anderson in the mix?) So I'll just be very excited to see what he comes up with.

No point in playing armchair manager at this point, really, we know our squad is fantastic and whatever tweaks we do will go down well with me.

Him not working out in the premier league is a possibility but I think he has more chances of succeeding due to his proven track record. When we got Berbatov, he was not a world class striker nor was he even a top 10 striker in the world. But that is what is different with Sneidjer. He is one of the top 5 midfielders in the world, which means he is world class.

If we sign him, he might actually be the biggest signing (namewise) we've done since... Veron?

Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though

There is a difference though.. I know RDCR07 will call me pessimistic (again), but I really can't see Chelsea buying Sneijder from us after two years for half the price we are paying now, again..

Rooney's sister/some relative Claire Rooney was in Ibiza this past week....as was Yolanthe. :smirk:

Sneijder goes to Ibiza quite a bit. A friend of mine met him there last year, not withstanding the fact that his bird was born there.

I recall Owen saying he regarded winning the title with us as the highlight of his career, despite his minimal involvement

Although I share your caution regarding WS, it does not remotely compare to Ciddy wantonly throwing their Sugar Daddy's money at anything that moves. United have earned that money and if they don't spend it on players, what do we spend it on? Uncle Malky's debts?

I have a feeling Berbs might be on the move to help fund this Sneijder deal - he sure seems to be on the periphery these days and even though they don't play identical roles, he'd only become even more peripheral. Although I think we need an anchor man more than somebody further forward, you'd have to say he'd improve us - and although I know we can't expect him to pledge undying love and loyalty to United, he could sound a bit keener on the move but he sounds to me like he'd rather stay where he is and if that's the case, I'd rather he did

Not remotely bothered about this signing. Much rather we get Gotze or Bastian to be honest.

This definitely looks like its going to happen Sults. Fergie was a bit apprehensive at first, but with WR8's constant bumping of this thread, he finally saw the light.

Danny do you just sit in front of your computer and come up with ways to try and wind me up?

Why? Anyway, I'm done with the Veron comparisons if you don't like them.. :(

Welcome back wr8_utd! Let's see what Sneijder's having for breakfast this morning..

Has he been given a shirt number yet? Any pics? Probably at Carrington as we speak.

Yes, a journalist I know took pictures of him as he arrived for his medical and then his arrival at Carrington. Just wait for the pictures.

If you can't figure this out as sarcasm, then I can't help you.

Excellent! I love ITK's. Looking in the megastore for the shirt. Not up yet.
