From that Sky Sports story:

"The 26-year-old Holland international has been strongly linked with a move away from the San Siro in recent weeks, with Premier League outfit Manchester United thought to be chasing his signature."

Translation:

"The agent of the 26-year-old Holland international has spent a lot of time leaking suggestings of a move away from the San Siro in recent weeks, and inventing a link with Manchester United so as to secure as good a new contract as possible. It is unknown at this time whether or not the agent is aware of the wankfest he cause on fan site redcafe.net."

He should win the Ballon d'Or IMO. The treble as well as carrying or at least being the key man in the Holland team that where really close winning the World Cup. Based on the fact that he just signed a new contract with Inter lasting to 2015...

Ferguson will never sign him, he would be £40m-£50m and he would not be worth that, and definatley not value for money.

There was a chance to sign him during the Ronaldo deal, he would have been a very cheap component of it, and we passed it up. You never know how a player will turn out at a particular club, for all we know the player told the manager behind the scenes he wasn't interested...

Opportunity missed and long passed

Doesn't bother me one iota. As I've already said in this thread, as good a player as he is, he's not what we need at the moment, at least in my opinion.

We need a box-to-box CM capable of scoring a fair portion of goals but who can also tackle and fulfill the defensive duties. Our midfield is loose enough as it is without adding a £40m+ player who can only truly be beneficial to his team when given a free role behind a striker(s). Someone with good technique and a good engine is what we need. To quote Zidane, adding an expensive luxury player who's presence would require us to become very regimented in our system would be adding the gold paint when what the car really needs is a new engine.

EUR 15 million gross a year, thats about 288K EUR a week? thats slightly over 250K GBP? I guess he's not going anywhere soon...

Exactly. I'm not surprised at all that he extended his contract. He has stressed very often how happy he is at Inter and that he's glad that the nightmare he had at Real is finally over.

But I can understand why we didn't sign him. He has a history with injury and after Hargreaves it would have been too big a risk to sign him.

How can it be an oppurtunity missed when we have shown no interest in him. Ferguson even said so this summer just gone. We've once again just been used for contract negotiations is all.

This, he's be competing with Berbatov for a place and I don't think we need to replace Berba, especially at such cost.

so has he fallen off as a player then?

He had an anemia. The bloke needs some time off to refresh, though it's not going to happen for him... Wonder if he'll mentally crack soo er or later.

He just had idiopathic anemia? Anemia in a 26 year old man usually points to a more serious problem.

He's dead. You lot are in some kind of Shutter Island / Lost / Sixth Sense / Misfits ripoff and you can't wake up. Spoiler: football doesn't exist except in Niall's imagination.

He needs a change in scenery, ...to Manchester. I really don't see him staying at Inter that long, I could see Real possibly buying him back at some point this coming summer in all actuality, wouldnt mind if United get involved as well

There is no way Madrid are going to go in for him again and there is no way in hell he is going to return to Madrid regardless of what Real and Inter achieve this year. It does not matter if Madrid win everything and Inter don't win anything, he will not go to Madrid.

He was treated like shit there. I know Mourinho is in charge now and hence you might think there is a chance of him but no. Perez still calls the shots there.

They need another striker? Bloody hell Perez you cnut! You bought Benzema, one of the brightest young prospects before last season and you are letting him rot in your fecking bench. You just should have bought David Villa instead of wasting a young player's career.

Excuse moi? do you have his number? if so set me I want to talk to him about his wife.

Didn't he say he would consider Madrid in the summer when Jose left?

never rule out anything in football, Perez isn't letting Benzema rot, Perez isn't the manager, if Benz would stop being so fat and lazy he will score more

I've just read an interview with him
"Sí, salía mucho. Pero un día me levantéy me dije: ¿Wesley, qué estás haciendo?" - Sneijder - AS.com

Interesting, because it talks about how much Mourinho helped him - because he could always sense what his players needed whether it was to play or to get some extra days off.

It does clarify one thing - he was always rumoured to be part of the too-many-nights-out crew at Madrid. He says that the rumours were true, he was. He started his second season there injured, he was breaking up with his wife and he hit the party circuit, but that he realised what he was doing to himself and his career and stopped.

So odd as the decision to sell him seems in retrospect, you can see how it happened - the move and Mourinho were probably exactly what he needed at the time. Can Benitez can give him the same kind of support? Does he still need it? Maybe he's got the wrong manager.

As for a return to Madrid, he thinks not.

Benitez cant do man management, he's hopeless at it his spell at Liverpool proved this beyond doubt, the number of players he upset is remarkable really even the home grown lads became sick of him, it doesn't surprise me Senior players at Inter are already bemoaning the loss of Mourinhio and replacing him with this dud, Milito has already spoken of his sadness at Mourinhio no longer being around and now Sneijder their 2 best players of last season, you cant underestimate the man management skills of Mourinhio and the lack of from Benitez.

He cant handle players.

If Sneijder does great or bad is more of a tactical issue, than a man to man managment issue IMO... Rafa clearly has problem with how to set up the team in Italy... 10 points behind AC Milan already, and it seemed like they had a superior squad ahead of this season.

Jose Mourinho actually did very well with a rather strange squad last season - he played them in a very unorthodox way... Inter does not have many wide players do they?
The wide play worked last season, using Eto'o and Pandev as wingers, Milito up front, these three provided vital positioning stretching the opponents making room where Sneijder would create. This wide play has died with Rafa, whom imminently changed tactics, something that has made Samuel Eto'o far more effective, but made Inter as a club far less productive... Every playmaker is dependent on the wide players to do their job, that is not currently happening at Inter, and it making his life very hard. Rafa had big problems with the width of Liverpool's attack too...

Their best wide player Maicon has not been as bad as he is this season for years. It seemed as if he was ready to quit Inter this summer, when he made it seem like that he was off to Real Madrid... He might be a bit unmotivated to play for Inter, after being there for years in a row now, that is more of a problem with Rafa's man to man management.

As for Sneijder, as the point in the post - I really just think he is a victim of Rafa's failed tactics, and in the past, it has seemed like the one strength Rafa might have, might be the tactical bit... Inter has ruined managers before, Hector Cuper - Rafa's predecessor in Valencia has practically disappeared since taking over Inter, and was considered one of the best before he took the job.
