Wesley Sneijder

Exciting times, I reckon.

Thursday/Friday we may hear talks underway again. Perhaps officially.

Hopefully we can pay less than £35m and I hope he drops his wages to around £160-170k a week.

I'm actually starting to believe it will happen now.

I'm already excited about this season with the young group of players:

Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Cleverley, Welbeck, Macheda, Chicharito, Anderson and De Gea.... and on to the more mature yet still young players; Young, Valencia, Nani, Rooney.

Add Sneijder to that equation and it's going to be a very very interesting season to watch. The way we slickly passed the ball around yesterday, put Sneijder in there and it'll only go up another level. Very exciting indeed.

This PM from another newbie (Morgs82) who attempts to explain the ambiguous parts in the previous translation.

Interviewer: 'Or is there any consultation planned in England?'

Sneijder: 'Uhhh, I don't know'

Interviewer: 'Oh, I hear it, yes, right?'

Sneijder: 'Uhh.. Well, I'm going away after the game. At least, if I get the permission of our (national) coach. I have to go back.'" [/I]

This bit: Sneijder: 'Yeahh (sounds doubting, but he does say it), but Manchester hasn't called officially.'

A more accurate translation would be "...*** niet zó officieel" - ".. not THAT official yet" (i.e. Manchester officially calling him to say they want him ) then again, later on he refuses to flat out deny they have called him in an unofficial or off the record manner.. Teasing

Hope this helps

paddy crerand on his show said that he believes that united have made a bid for sneijder

Yes. I suspect you've got the same gut feeling, Adzz.

I'm just annoyed we didn't pick him up for 12 million a few years back, I was crying for him and VdV at that time. Both would have been excellent, VdV less so of course.

However I'm with you, I think this is very much possible.

Doubt Paddy knows anything, he'll probably come out and say he meant United "should" or "are about to" make a bid for Sneijder.

With all the hassle that accompanies these transfer window summer sagas, and the way that Cleverley and others have stepped up this season, the only way I'd be happy with Sneijder now coming is if it's at a very reasonable price and he takes a massive wage cut.

It's so uplifting seeing the spirit, youth and passion for the club we've seen already that the idea of just blowing an obscene wad on someone who's by no means guaranteed to be a success just seems at odds with everything United have come to stand for...

Why would that bother you?

What's not to understand there? Why in hell would you only want him here for a reasonable price? As long as we can afford it I don't give 2 shits about the transfer fee.

Exactly. Too many people get far too worried about what money we're paying or not paying to get players.

Nothing we can do about it anyway.

Never understood all this talk about the transfer fee regarding Berbatov or any other player neither. A player should never be measured by his transfer fee imo.

So you're just interested in a pretty team to follow on TV from Austria and nothing more?

We've painstakingly built a successful team on strict transfer principles and have a great squad atmosphere - abandoning those principles for a player on massive wages is something SAF will have to consider really carefully, surely.

Wait has Paddy even said something like this?
There are only 2 or 3 people on twitter who are saying that.

Why does he say "I will be an Inter player on 31st August" rather that 1st September? ;)

Oh that's rich mr. Top Red.
I'm sure the club knows how much to pay for Sneijder if they want to get him, and I surely won't come out complaining about the fee after we signed him.

Why do you think this transfer has taken so much time? Because we are going to pay an astronomical fee and wages for him? Surely not.
We know what we are doing and if his demands are too high the transfer won't go through anyway.

So relax.

Everybody's favourite Matterface has reportedly just said that Sneijder will sign for United. So I guess we're not getting him after all this effort :(

That's bordering on a WUM, wr8.

We should call you Wraith, it would be so much cooler by the way.
