Wesley Sneijder

Cant see us paying more than 35million. Looks like City could hijack this deal with a tasty salary offer.

I don't think City can "afford" to over massive salaries anymore because of the FFP, but I could be wrong. I guess if they ship Tevez off that'll leave a gap for them though.

Did they avoid it with the etihad deal? I still think they can and will offer in the region of 250k no problems. This will be like winning the league to them by beating us to this signing. He's already mentioned for the right price so looks like he will go for the top deal. I'd be surprised if he chose us.

250k a week is a tenth of Manchester Citys revenue. I don't fully understand how this FFP works (someone said existing wages don't count for a certain time?) but I'm pretty sure they won't be paying Aguero in peanuts...if they can afford to pay his wages why couldn't they afford Sneijders?

Seriously if you lot think this deal was money orientated & he would only leave for cash then do you not think this would be done by now? Citeh wouldn't need to hang about if they wanted Sneijder, it would of been done by now over this long period of speculation. It was reported Sneijder told Citeh he wants United, Mancini has come out & said numerous times there's no interest in him from them; do you think he's really that clever to come out & deny interest in a player all as a cover up. Knowing him, he usually just comes out and blurts it out.

It still all points to us. The delay over a deal, obviously someone is wanting a better deal whether it be United wanting a cheaper price or Inter a higher price. Wages; I don't see it being this, we've lost a lot of high earners this season and have enough money in the wage budget to afford Sneijder. Plus if his wife gets a job in the UK they're guaranteed a higher income between them. Finally, Sneijder coming out to say he's 'for sale' is clever. Sneijder doesn't want to loose out his on signing on fee (or whatever fee it is) by handing in a transfer request. Signalling that Inter are willing to sell is effectively forcing there hand, it shows the Inter fans what Inter are trying to deny, they are in talks about selling him. Now Inter look bad & not Sneijder who would have looked the bad guy if he handed a request in! Frustration maybe taking its toll on Sneijder hence the comment; the deal needs to be pushed through, someone needs to give in & with Wesley in the country on Wednesday now is the perfect time.

Anyway, make of it what you will - that's where I stand & i'm sure this saga might finally end this week.

City have a player just as good as him in David Silva, by far their best player yesterday, despite always being used out of position. Mancini's reluctance to use someone as creatively brilliant as him infront of Yaya and De Jong ia baffling.

Yes your right, Mancini is ITK in the United boardroom...:wenger:

Yeah cause I meant it like that!? :annoyed: If a player you're interested in informs your club a deal is being worked on to join someone else, then YES you would know! Doesn't make you a ITK from Uniteds boardroom does it!! :wenger:

So what you are saying is that Inter have told Shitty that they are working on a deal with United, & Mancini has said "oh alright, we'll leave you to it mate".

What point are you trying to make exactly?

Not trying to make a point, you're just exaggerating comments here. It's not a case of "we'll leave you to it" if the club or the player doesn't want to speak to them - that's it, not much Citeh or Mancini can do is there!

If City have agreed terms with Nasri then IF they bought Sneijder aswell the FFP rules are evidently shit. However, they must work.

If true, the only thing that will stop us getting Sneijder is presumably our own finances/willingness to pay wages.

I think we'll get him still.

Been away this weekend, but did anyone pick up on the quote from Mancini:

OK, OK, maybe i'm clutching on straws here. Does Mancini know something we don't? Or is he just really bad at Math?

He saw Clevs and Welly and thought "hey wait a second, they were not there last time we played them!"

The way FFP works they will basically pay a few million pounds fine because they haven't complied with rules. It's ironic because it'll be nothing to them.

And risk being kicked out of European competition?

They won't be kicked out of competition. It's mentioned as one of possible punishments but I don't think it will ever be enforced on a big club. Some Bulgarian or Belarusian sides might be kicked out to be made an example of but I really, really don't think a club like City with plenty of stars will be.

Just can't see City getting Nasri and Sneijder. It doesn't make sense and plus if Mancini was interested in Sneijder, he'd have given a dozen interviews about it by now.

City wont sign either Nasri or Sneijder in this window. I'd bet money on it

Nar they will most certainly be kicked out.

Fixed...

What's big about them, rich of course, but big? :nono:

Branca: "I don't want to talk every day about the market. We just arrived after a long journey. Talk to Sneijder"

Not a chance, a club of city's financial might will fight it tooth and nail, it really isn't worth the hassle for UEFA. Makes much more sense that they will hand out a large fine and warn them to sort it out for next time. That way they boost their coffers without courting too much controversy, or more importantly devaluing their own competition.

Someone suggested the other week that no elite club will be thrown out of European competition for breach of these rules and i am inclined to agree.

Could anyone really imagine Madrid or Barca being thrown out?

Im not bothered if he chooses City, he has had his chance to join Utd, and while he has been dragging his feet a couple of promising youngsters may have given SAF something to think about.

Ashley Young on Wesley Sneijder: "He's an Inter Milan player, that's all I can say about him to be honest."

Typical muppetry...

Like 99% of wr8's posts, it means nothing...
