Wesley Sneijder

So he didn't score many freekicks last season then? I think there were quite a few players that were better than him at the world cup.

I've seen Zarlack acting like a bit of a smartarse before so I thought I'd point out the flaw in what he was saying.

It was actually you that was the smart arse, I said he scored a great goal and you popped up from nowhere with 'oh great, how many did he score last year then' when actually he's scored the same amount of goals that our 3 CMs put together did last year.

30% of posts on last page are wr8's. He's crazy.

Wow, everything goes through him, plus he has a wicked free kick.

Fergie sign him up!

Sneijders been average in this match to be fair. Good goal though, but maybe the keeper could've done better.

No, you said wonderful free kick, it's something we lack. He was talking about goals from free kicks, not goals.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. In the past, I've seen you shoot other people down with some blunt, smartarse post. Hence my smartarse post to you.

Anyway don't mind me, I've not had much sleep these last few days. These Sneijder fanbois just annoy me.

Well it was a wonderful free kick, and something we do lack is a proper set piece taker. That's well documented. He wasn't specific that he was enquiring about free kicks, but even if he was it doesn't matter, it's abundantly clear that Sneijder is a great free kick taker and one of the things he is known for. Maybe it's me being from Salford but when someone says 'how many did he score last season' it means goals. Which the answer was as many as our 3 CMs put together. If he meant specific free kicks then I don't know, but that's beside the point because he still scored 7 goals and is evidently a great free kick taker and will do better than Nani when taking set pieces.

I made a comment that we need a set piece taker and that his set piece was wonderful, then he pops up a sarcastic reply so I replied in kind.

Ibra's barnet is a shocker, I always considered him really really manly.

I was talking about freekicks as that is what you mentioned, though I can see why you thought goals. Asking how many freekicks he scored isn't beside the point though, not when you have said he's good at them and it's something we miss. It's actually very much relevant then.

He's got 3 goals against Inter, 2 against Milan and one against Juve in 18 games.

6 goals against big teams is usually enough for a player to shake the tag of not being a big game player though, and that's just in Italy. He scored some important goals for Barca, 2 against Arsenal if I remember right.

True, after he missed a couple of sitters.

I don't think he is a big game bottler, but he plays so shit in some of these games that I start to think it's a burden on the team. For example against Spurs last season or against Liverpool a few seasons back.

Against Inter at home, Pep was forced to yank him off for Bojan.

It is really though, as he scores more than any other player we have taking them, he can clear the first man unlike Nani, he can send in a decent corner unlike Nani, when I said we miss someone who can take free kicks I should have been clearer but I meant set pieces. Also every free kick doesn't have to result in a goal, crosses etc. It would just be relieving to see someone who can either clear the wall when it comes to a FK or clear the first man when it comes to a corner.

The added bonus is that he scores from his free kicks as well as scoring the same amount of total goals than Anderson/Carrick/Fletcher put together in a year considered to be an 'off' year.

Anyway opinions are subjective so we can always agree to disagree.
