Wesley Sneijder

Wouldn't surprise me if a bid for Berbatov is accepted (anything over 15 million) to help fund Sneijder.

As one Wes leaves hopefully another arrives:

Is nobody else bothered by the fact that it's apparently a money situation for Sneijder that is holding this up?
Not really. He apparently shot down City as soon as they showed interest, so that shows it's not all about the money. It seems that he just doesn't want to take a pay cut, which is fair enough. Look at it from his point of view - when he's still at his best why should he lose money to join a new team?

Heading to Beijing!!! I will keep you up to date with some pics...

doesnt sound too positive for us

Well we don't need Wesley here to agree a fee with Inter.

And we can always agree a fee while he's in China and have him paraded in a United jersey out there. Genius marketing ploy

just chillin' in beijing, got some business to conclude if you know what i mean #winkwink

I don't get it, I mean, he's genuine world-class, a cut above any midfielder we have in the first 11 and if Sir Alex has pointed him out to be our record signing surely a misapprehension about an inability to play a midfield 2 is drowned out in your own mind mate?

Sneijder being a cut above what we already have is not something that should make all United fans want to sign him.

I too have my reservations about him as I do not see how he will fit in playing as he has done for the last few years. I'll be happy to have him as I trust Fergie's judgement over mine but just because he is better than Anderson or Carrick, does not mean that I'll whack my cock out overtime we get 'closer' to signing him!

Might i ask why?

Where would he play for starters, he's a player who plays off the striker, we already have someone better than him for starters and would probably be on lower wages and no wasted transfer fee. He's shown absolutely nothing to suggest he could play in a deeper role, which would make him the worldsmost expensive benchwarmer or a liability.

Unlike some it seems I'm neither bothered about names of players I've not seen, this is one I have seen quite a lot of and clearly wouldn't work, give me Modric over him any day.

I'd rather Modric over him too, but Modric wants to stay in London and play for Chelsea, so it's pointless even thinking about him.

World class players should be able to adapt to whatever system they're required to play in.

Absolutely not.

I can kind of see your point. I'd rather we got a Nasri/Modric type player, as I think maybe Sneijder is similar or plays that position similar to Rooney.

And, of course I'd rather Rooney keeps playing that role. I just think there's too much talk about it now, it simply won't go away. That's why I think there's a good chance it'll happen.

Could Messi play at left back? Could Ronaldo play as a Libero? Could Rooney Play as a sweeper?

That role that Sneijder and Rooney play is hugely different to the one he would be asked to play and we'd end up with a whinging Dutchman as he can't play where he wants.

 So Messi moving to left back is the same as Sneijder moving from behind the strikers to midfield?

And another thing, if Fergie thinks Sneijder is what we need, then who are we to argue. Let's see what happens.

I agree with the finest shorts in football.

Sneijder also won't address the defensive side of our midfield. Modric and Carrick would've been.....

Messi playing at left back or Rooney as a sweeper is exactly like Sneijder moving back in midfield. (a role he's played in the past and the past month as well BTW)
