We already do because he isnt the player he was that often, over the last two years especially last when Scholes played well so did United or so it seemed
That's tripe.

Fergie coming out with the usual then!! So what is it from our fans now.. Do we believe he's bluffing, are we all backing Fergie now that we don't really need him and that it's the Italy president thats just magically making up stories?
Either way if we really was interested, i doubt we would get him unless he opens a big desire to come join us and we'd still probably mess that up.
Can these threads be merged or one of them closed or something??
especially since the Glazers arrived and we started to get better at transfers
Eh?
No comprende, compadre
My post from the Ozil thread:
TBF , from those statements, it only looks as though we haven't made a formal bid for Sneijder. As I suspected, the numbers floating around have been cooked up by journos.
There is nothing to suggest we didn't inquire about Sneijder. That seems the most likely chain of events - we inquire about Sneijder, Moratti goes to the press and shoots his mouth off as a negotiating tactic, Sneijder hears about it and either doesn't want to leave Inter where he is undoubtedly the star man or wants to appease his GF in case she starts to suspect she'll have to leave Milan.
SNEIJDER: I WANT TO SIGN FOR MAN UNITED
WESLEY Sneijder wants to play for Man United – and privately insists a move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan is not dead.

The Dutch midfielder goes into today’s World Cup Final against Spain with his future still in doubt, despite claims that he is staying at the San Siro.
Inter insist Sneijder, 26, won’t be going after helping them to a Champions League, Serie A and Copa Italia Treble last season.
And their new boss, former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, wouldn’t be keen on the idea of losing him to Sir Alex Ferguson after their spats.
Sneijder has admitted he’s ready to discuss a new contract and his future wife, model and TV presenter Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen, is believed to favour living in Italy.
But the Daily Star Sunday can reveal that members of Sneijder’s family are urging him to fulfil his ambition of playing for United.
A member of the Sneijder clan said: “Wesley wants to play for United and he should go there. He was very disappointed when they didn’t go for him when he was leaving Real Madrid for £12 million a year ago.”
We revealed three weeks ago that Sneijder, one of the stars of the World Cup, was a target for United boss Ferguson.
United have since made anoffical approach and are believed to be prepared to pay £29 million - giving Inter £17 million profit on their shrewd signing from Real.
Another option would be for United to include striker Dimitar Berbatov in the deal.
Sneijder could yet also be a target for his former club, following Jose Mourinho’s move there from Inter.
But the indications are that Madrid’s No.1midfield target is still Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard.
That would leave Inter and United in a straight fight for Sneijder, the World Cup’s joint-leading scorer with five goals.
And the battle isn’t over yet for a player who is clearly torn over his future.
Guess not
Already posted in the other thread. Are the Mods dead? Merge already, please.
This was the original one so the other should just be deleted. I guess if that new mod has been picked he could start earning his money.
That Star story is hilarious, they've moved on from club sources and are now citing family members as sources of information! The bit about his missus is interesting though, can't see her being keen on a move from Milan to Manchester!
Read: agent.

Ah! Sorry I misunderstood your post, my fault.

Or close both.After SAF comments.
They cite no sources for the report. I'd be very surprised if the Daily Star is actually in contact with 'members of Sneijder's family.' More likely they called up his agent, who provided them with said 'quote.'
I just assumed they'd completely made them up, but yea possibly.
Our transfer policy before this was a complete mess. We'd go for players and end up being bid up to the roof, overpaying, getting involved in long protracted transfer negotiations all of which forced the bid price up because we were Manchester United.
In addition, we announced everything we were doing becuase we were a public limited company.
The only player that we've paid too much for since has been Berbatov. But the policy now is much neater. If I put aside transfers like Pique, Forlan, & Rossi where we sold too cheaply - at least now we can strike quickly and effectively for promising talent like Smalling, Hernandez, Obertan, Nani & Anderson.

What the hell is happening with this Sneidjer transfer deal? Fergie is saying he has not placed a bid for him while De Zeew and Robben are saying SNeidjer is tipped to join United.
I'd be over the moon if we signed him, a front four of Sneijder, Nani, Valencia and Rooney =Tomorrow's a big day...
My point wasn't about producing an impressive list of names. Merely that we swooped quickly for these players (and as you say paid for quality at the prices we'd expect to pay). Rather than before when we got involved in long, protracted, drawn out sagas that we seemed to announce to the world - with these plays we did our homework and were in and out.
