Is this the thread with the most views or at least one of the most viewed with over a million views?

You've got to laugh at the Sun, the way they made that headline on their website the other week, stating he's going to sign for United "like we told you". :lol:He could sign one day but their over reaction and nah nah nah told you so's seems well off.

Weak by the standards of a few years ago, yes, we used to regularly have several teams in the last 4 of the Champions League, the last 2 years we have had one. Chelsea, Liverpool and ourselves are significantly below the standards we were at in 2008 and 2009, and Arsenal aren't exactly a mighty force.

You can always join the dots or make links but I don't think it always works like that. Barcelona knocked us and Arsenal out and we beat Chelsea in an all English tie so that only leaves Spurs, who lets be honest had a cracking first year in the Champions league.

Barca + the English teams are pretty much your favourites for most seasons CL. Obviously Madrid were bumped up a bit more than normal because of the Mourinho being in charge of the star names.

Just read on twitter (@_jonathanrigby with United on the tour does the Marketing for United) that Gill is with the team in America if this deal happens its gonna take a while.

If this is going to happen its going to happen right on deadline day isn't it?

Another month of this to go!

So now this is a general thread, can I start spamming bacon related posts again?

Can't guarantee the truth of this one :nervous: but mentioned this should hit media soon...

So apparently Yolanthe has said she is "very keen" on the move to England & Sneijder has told Inter he wants to move to United - It is not a transfer request though! Don't shoot the messenger!

31 July 2011 (Sunday) Inter Milan v Manchester City @ the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland

Will be well and truly OFF by Monday.

Yeah I read that but didn't bother posting it for the fear of being banned or something

The way I see it we want him and he wouldn't mind a move but finances are a huge problem. Inter will demand a large fee and Sneijder himself will have to be a top earner at United, so we are looking at investing around £70m on him over the next five or six years which obviously raises some questions both for manager and owners. We're probably not sure if we can afford an investition like that but I won't be surprised if we eventually finalise the deal.

Thats the frustration with alot of us tho, this could drag out til the last day & we still end up payin what was originally on the table, after puttin us all through the mill in the "will he wont he" saga...

feck it - just sign him ffs if he's keen to come... none of this alleged mind-games bollox. We need another mid-fielder aswell, so i wish they'd get the finger out. The Caf's goin crazy with this drama & all the Cafs Wags are feelin neglected too!

It was like that with Berbatov when we ended up paying exactly what Tottenham demanded, I think with Sneijder it's a bit different because a variety of other things come into question like wages. I won't be surprised if rumours about Nike willing to push this deal through was true, he is a very marketable person and they would earn plenty on his image rights.

I would say we could do with another midfielder next to Sneijder so I won't be shocked if we sign someone else in the next few weeks, probably a more defensively minded players, and that would take a lot of pressure off Sneijder's deal, although either way it won't come as a shock to me if we end up signing no one at all.

Are the Nike rumours true then?

Hell knows, but I imagine they would be pretty interested in such deal. We don't really have a marketable player at United at the minute except for Rooney who is a true star, and possibly Hernandez and Park due to ethnicity, Sneijder would be a welcome addition from their perspective. Not to mention that this would be the biggest transfer in the whole Europe this year so it would inevitably draw attention.

I think we're obliged to move with the times, 'no value' or not. After all, these are the days when the likes of City would gladly pay £70m for the mere signing of a player, and then still face the problem of his salary, image rights etc etc.

Given the knock-on effects of us signing Sneijder, £70m or thereabouts might well prove to be a bargain within a relatively short space of time.

Agreed, the money we'd make from Sneijder shirt sales alone would negate a large portion of the fee we'd have to splashed.

Yes, they do use child labour.

:(

Again, agreed - what I mean are, have SSN reported it?

Considering the fact that he's already sponsored by Nike and is at Inter who're also sponsored by Nike, I don't see why on earth they'd want to pay for him to move to another Nike sponsored team.
