Wesley Sneijder

She also tweeted a picture of a newspaper article about City swapping Tevez for him and said something about it being exciting.

Roughly translates to "Haha all still exciting (to) hear" sounds more like she's mocking the article to me.

Wait, now the PL is weak and we are far away not only from Barca but also fecking Real Madrid? Jesus Christ.Such a moronic thing to say. Did you actually watch "37 yr old Giggs" last season? He was immense at times.

He was good but nowhere near to what he used to be in his prime. Bottom line of the story he was able to send these players on the bench at age 37. I doubt he would have done the same with Scholes, Keane, Ince and even Butt on their prime.

We're talking about the same Ryan Giggs who ran the show in midfield against Chelsea in the CL and PL. The same Chelsea who have Essien, Lampard and Ramires in the midfield. Not bad for a man who's way past his prime in his unfavorable position.

How come the Sneijders have all got first names that are from Last of the Summer Wine.

Barry, Wesley, Sylvia? (Not sure on the last one, but you get the drift.)

Makes me wonder where Nora and Compo Sneijder are.

I actually agree that Real Madrid are ahead of us by some margin. The 5-0 vs Barca was a one off, the rest of their games were very even and they beat Barca in the Copa Del Rey Final.

Barca and Madrid are in a league of their own at the moment and are only getting stronger.

You actually think winning the league isn't good enough? What is wrong with you?

That post is so ridiculously arrogant and spoiled it is unreal. Generations of fans watched our rivals dominate this league and then Fergie changed it all. We are in the most successful period of our history, our entire history, so try and enjoy it. It's not always going to be this good.

If you'll settle down with just the league then you are supporting the wrong club. We're talking about the same club who went toe to toe with the FA so that it can participate in the European league. The same club who had seen the CL as the holy grail. Do you think that our manager is happy to settle for just the league without a chance of winning the big ears cup? Read what he said about Barca recently and you'll get the hint. The day we're happy with second best it will be the day when we're start going down.

I am not a glory hunter. I started supporting United when were still struggling (early SAF time) and AC Milan used to win the CLs for the fun of it, with a side that would probably put Barca to shame (where I live 50 per cent of the people support Italian sides). On the other hand its pisses me off that such great side should be so close of winning the CL and fecks it up just because it fails to tackle a minor issue.

I am not criticizing Giggs but those who makes it so easy for him to win his first team place despite he's past his prime in his unfavorable position.

I think Fergie recognises that it is unlikely that we can put togeter a team that will be better than this Barca side. It's their time and we just have to wait. We could spend £100 million on midfielders and, unless we brought in Xavi and Iniesta, we'd still be inferior.

Only one club can win the CL so there is no great shame if we don't happen to be that one club again. Fergie even said that the aim is to make it to the final. Hopefully Barca will slip up elsewhere.

Who's that Alvarez guy? Could he be considered a replacement?

He played wide in his first game and will likely play as a shuttler in a diamond or as a wide player in a 433 so I don't think so.

That's not true at all. Did you watch those games?

They got their arses kicked from pillar to post. They were only "more even" because Mourinho came up with the revolutionary tactic of putting 10 men behind the ball for 90 minutes.

There's absolutely no evidence that Madrid are ahead of us, never mind "by some margin"

Fergie's not got time to wait, I'm sure he has his sights firmly set on toppling Barca.

That's BS to be honest. Our team is already at Barca's level bar CM. Actually we have a stronger defense and a stronger forward line. They are better on the flanks and light years ahead of us in CM.

They're playing him on the right of the front three in a 3-4-3 with Sneijder in the middle. Would be interesting to see how they line up/shape up when the sudamericani return.

He'll probably still be here when Barca's dominance ends. I think he'd happily sacrifice winning the CL again soon if he could set up another team now that will dominate for years to come. That doesn't mean he won't try to win it though.

It's not BS at all. How the feck can we be on their level yet they have better wingers and are 'light years ahead' in the centre of midfield. How do you propose we catch up these 'light years'? The midfielders aren't available and you have to accept that.

Improving the quality of our CM is a start. Or should we handle the CL to them for the next 3 yrs in a row?

They are a fantastic side but so are we. We just need to sort our problems in midfield and we'll compete. Its not that hard to find more creative talent then Anderson, Gibson and Carrick isn't it?

Disagree. Of course I watched them. Well, it worked didnt it? Because they drew the next home league game and won the Copa Del Rey, so perhaps if we had used similar tactics (although not quite to the same extent), maybe we wouldnt have got our arses handed to us on a plate in the CL Final instead of going gung ho.

Its just my opinion. They play very attractive football, their starting XI is superior to ours, as is their squad; its incredible and they arguably have the greatest managerial tactictian in Jose Mourinho.

Apart from Copa Del Rey Final, Madrid weren't anywhere near Barcelona. Arsenal taught that you could beat Barcelona whilst playing good football.

How long he's here for is obviously subject to speculation, but he certainly won't feel he has the time to put in half arsed challenges for the CL, not if he wants to win it again.

HT. Sneijder's been woeful in his new role. Inter fans seem to think it's because his head is elsewhere.

Edit: Nevermind, this thread seems to be about Barcelona now.

As long as Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, and Guardiola are at Barcelona, we will never be able to match them, and it is disrespectful to even attempt to do so.

We should simply focus on maintaining our status as the best in England.

No its not the case. Sneijder is doing very well with Inter at the moment.

Aye, brilliantly.

Madrid's record against Barcelona last season (in normal time):

P5 W0 L3 D2 GF1 GA10

"Very even" indeed.

If you'd said something like "he's doing well for someone being played out of his natural position" then there might have been something there, but I have to laugh at that, that is just codswallop.

eh??

Disrespectful to even try... really? Sure this is not mis-stated?

Because sure, I think Barca is one of all the all time great teams, and it is because I respect them so much that I understand we must raise the bar. Sorta what Fergie is saying last interview I thought....

Agreed.
Not to forget that the refs in at least 2 of those games were almost as much Barca fans as Pogue.

That draw everyone keeps going on about wasn't a good result at all - they needed to win to have any chance in the title race and it was at the Bernabeu.

According to Gasperini and Moratti he's doing excellent in his new position. Ricky and him were highlighted as Inter's best players at the moment.

Ditto the home draw in the CL. Another poor result.

Anyhoo, back to Sneijder (although I'm not even going to get into the irony of transfer muppets getting annoyed about this thread - of all threads - being taken off-topic)

I am not criticizing Giggs but those who makes it so easy for him to win his first team place despite he's past his prime in his unfavorable position.

But if he's dominating that position and running the show against teams like Chelsea, the it's not going to be easy to take his place, is it?

Normally I'd agree and say if you can't get in front of a 37 year old winger in the starting 11 then you're not good. But Giggs isn't any old 37 year old winger, I think we all know that.

The questions that Moratti was asked when he made the previously mentioned comments.

PINZOLO - President Massimo Moratti travelled up to meet the Nerazzurri team in Pinzolo. After the final training session at the Stadio Pineta, he answered questions from journalists who were there.

Q. President, you came here to Pinzolo to meet the team. How do you find them?

Moratti: "I came primarily to thank the local administration for how well they organised everything, because I feel they have been extremely good, generous and efficient to make sure that we settled in and the team enjoyed it, so I felt it would be nice for me to thank them personally. Apart from that I saw the team briefly and now they are leaving, so there hasn't been much time."

Q. What do you think about the way Gian Piero Gasperini as coach is moulding the team's play and about the experiments he's carrying out with Wesley Sneijder?

Moratti: "He's trying out things which I find very interesting and he has enough character to explain these to the players in the right way. He's showing the right type of character and professionalism at the same time. Then the fact that he likes the job is great and he can be tenacious in what he does."

Q. The question that's on the lips of the fans is: Is Sneijder staying or not?

Moratti: "[Smiling] I ask myself the same question, but I hope he stays."

Q. It seems that Manchester United want him at all costs...

Moratti: "That's what the papers say, but for the moment I don't think there have been any new developments. That's what the papers say about many players, who we are told have already signed for Real Madrid for example and then we find out it isn't true. So I think that there are a lot of rumours, but not very much money."

If we had your attitude we'd have won feck all the last 20 years.

I wonder if it's playing on Sneijder's mind: if he were a United player now, he'd be in the U.S. on a glamorous tour (and near to his wife while she's working in the States) instead of playing against lower-league teams in Italy like Inter are doing on their 'tour'...
