Wesley Sneijder

This whole fecking saga is getting on my tits now.

If we don't buy a central midfielder I might just go on a murderous rampage.

If United had the same attitude as some in this thread, the team would never bother to try when they're 1-0 down, let alone try to overturn the more negative scorelines they've often turned into positive ones.

Stating things like 'Get over it...it's not happening' etc are as depressing as they are unrealistic; unless you have insider knowledge matching that of Sir Alex or David Gill, you're wasting everyone's time.

We have around 7 weeks to get this deal done. Any Twitter malarky from journos shouldn't be taken so seriously.

Why can nobody wait for reliable websites to publish a story? As of yet, it is all exaggerated speculation that has fueled the Twitter stories.

And you're such a happy-go-lucky chap usually.

I would say Inter denying the player is for sale. United denying Gill was in Milan and Ferguson telling the media there is no truth in the rumours is fairly decisive.

The bold part doesn't make anything decisive. However, Inter denying there has been a bid makes it a little more trustworthy.

I've actually given up, if we sing him then great, if not I'm not surprised. Fergie is a brave man if he's going into the season with our current midfielders though. It will be a season of tremendous ups and downs regarding midfield performances like the last couple of seasons.

Shhh... Don't ruin his miserablist rant by correcting it with facts.

Pogue why do I always get the impression you enjoy it when we dont strengthen our team? Its either that or you get too much joy out of fecking with the transfer muppets which makes you almost as annoying as them, cut it out mate and balance it up a bit ffs! Not all of us in here are transfer muppets but a lot of us agree our midfield needs strengthened!

i think we are definately in talks despite what is being said now in public...but finding an agreement is proving troublesome.

My original request was for him to just warn all the twitter spastics but maybe I should have asked him to ban them all too:smirk:

Ban everybody. feck it, ban Sneijder too. I always thought he was as overrated as twitter is by some of these muppets.

Opinion may change if he signs

I bet ya any money that Fergie's gettin Sneijder confused with Dejan Stankovic, you know what these old folk are like. Jack Charlton was the same - he kept pickin Tony "the lying cnut" Cascarino thinkin it was Roberto Baggio, the stupid cnut.

If same bloke doin interview was to ask Fergie:

Same bloke: "so Sir Alex, are Manchester United goin to sign Dejan Stankovic?"

Fergie: "aye, feckin sures wee man, he's a proper fooooooootballer is the lad.. we're workin on the feckin bread tho.. those lot are hungry cnuts so Dave's tryin to do a wee jobby to pay the cnuts.. probably take a good few days to find clean money for the cnuts, but he'll be hoppin & a skippin to us soon enough & you can fecking quote me on that ya wee-bastad... ha ha ha.."

Whatever happens at the end of this - one thing is for certain, doesn't matter who it is that provides insight - whether it be a paper or a tweet or a blog, we can't really trust anything that is out there when it comes to transfers.

Even SAFs own words need to always be taken with a pinch of salt since he's been known to tell a fib or two. It very well could end up that as he said in the interview there is nothing to the rumours but, the next time he says something similar he could equally be lying.

Even when September 1 hits and if we don't sign him, the only people that will now the truth are Gill, SAF, Sneijder and the Inter higher ups. Some ITKs may be proven "right" because they said it wasn't going to happen but, it really won't be proof they had actual knowledge.

I was asleep for 2 hours and 8 pages have arrived, what have I missed??? Have we signed him or is he on his way?

I know.

The opposite, Ferguson has openly expressed that Sneijder coming to United its a non-starter.

Laudisa: "Per Sneijder allo United porta socchiusa"

Laudisa: "Per Sneijder allo United porta socchiusa" - Inter - TUTTO MERCATO WEB

According to this journalist (who works for Gazzetta dello Sport), our interest in Sneijder cooled down when we were informed that Sneijder was not prepared to lower his wage demands. The same journalist is saying that there is still some hope that this may go through, especially if Ferguson does not find any alternatives.

IMO if thats true, we should abandon the chase.....

I hope we won't agree to pay the reported wages he wants. He should want to come to United anyway, not for the money..

Understatement of the century!

That's kind of the point. Those that are now saying definitively since SAF has said there is nothing to the rumours, that this story is dead are ignoring the fact that SAF doesn't always speak the truth in interviews on certain matters (lineups, transfer targets).

Basically, for the central midfield position we have:
- a 38-year-old converted winger
- an injury-prone Brazilian who flatters to deceive
- a guy wrecked by a virus he still hasn't recovered from, after months
- a 22-year-old youngster with a season of Premier League experience who spent most of his professional career playing on the flanks
- a 19-year-old centre-back
- a 30-year-old winger

Yes, it's very convincing. No need to sign anyone.
It's easy to use negatives. Use positives and we've got world-class midfield.

He's 27 and he's had one really good season in his career. One.
Why the feck pay £35m and 200k a week for this fella?

I'd be happy enough starting the season with what we have.
