Why the feck didn't we try to sign him last summer? He was clearly an absolute bargain going for a song. No fecking value in the market apparently, sounded retarded then and looks just as retarded now

One relatively frequent criticism I have of Ferguson's transfer policy, he always waits til a players value soars

Yep he does, if you know a player's good enough then why wait, especially given how much we shelled out for the likes of Anderson. Given our current financial position, passing up on a player who could have been included in a swap deal, until he has a great world cup is just downright stupid.

Yes rocket scientist, a manager who's been in charge for over two decades will have more than a few examples where he's got in ahead of the game

Still doesn't detract from the critique. Ferguson has been belting for the most part in the transfer market - back when we actually had significant money to spend of course - but if there are concerns, this is high amongst them

Alternatively, he waits until they've proved they're good enough for United.

Of course, this whole "waiting too long" criticism makes even less sense when you consider the likes of Nani, Anderson, Diouf, Obertan, Hernandez, Smalling etc. etc.

In reality, his tranfer policy has always been a blend of long-term punts and established top class players (the latter a bit lacking in the very recent past)

Wow mystic meg, nice of you to show up. Don't you think that United and SAF would know the going rate for a player like Sneijder and if so then surely they'd know if we could afford him or not before we entered a bid for him.

Sorry to piss on your fire, but its not going to happen.

Moratti wont let a player like Sneijder go.

Right on cue, no one here is against buying talented youngsters early on and developing them. Brad hasn't criticised SAF for that, so I don't see why you're even pointing it out. Sneijder and Berbatov can't be compared to those unproven players, they were far more established at the time of their respective moves to Spurs and Inter. Take Berbatov for example, SAF was supposedly a huge admirer, yet he let him go off to Spurs, was the German league just not competitive enough? Should he have also waited for Ruud to prove himself in a superior league to that of the dutch one (which lets face it, seems to flatter to deceive, especially with strikers)? It shows clear inconsistency.

Agree. It was retarded.

Credit to him for signing Hernandez before the World Cup.

But he wont find value after the World Cup.

His comments were a tad strange though i mean "i didnt want to ask to much in case i were tempted"? hardly sounds the most ferasome bugger off stance for sure.

But if weve bid below 20 million for him then i doubt theres much temptation there.

£20mil is about £18mil euros. Thats feck all to a club like Inter.

After the World Cup that Sneijder has had, it will be more like £35mil+

I'm pointing it out because it flies in the face of this "SAF always waits too long" crap.

He can't win with some of you cnuts. If you're not whining about him wasting money on raw talents, you're complaining about him waiting too long to make a move.

Moratti (whatever his name is) has been very open about getting Hamsik. It would sort out a problem for him if he sold Sneijder.

to name a few. I'm not saying a agree with Brad, i'm just saying simply naming names can work for both side of the argument.

I wonder what the caf would be like if we had announced the signing of Hernandez after his impressive displays at the World Cup.

In some cases, there may be a balance to be found.

did jose do the buying or branca?
From the looks of this photo, Mourinho wasn't too happy with signing Sneijder.

Apparently these are not rumors, Inter confirm there is an offer

Internazionale confirm Manchester United interest in Wesley Sneijder

• 'I believe the offer is real' says Inter president

Internazionale's president, Massimo Moratti, has indicated Manchester United have shown an interest in Wesley Sneijder.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to United after helping Holland reach the World Cup final in South Africa. Moratti, however, is confident that Sneijder will remain with Inter, the European champions.

"I believe the offer is real," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport, "but I have not even wanted to ask too much in order not to be tempted. I am enjoying watching him play at the World Cup and I believe I will continue to enjoy his play at Inter for many years."

Sneijder, 26, who joined Inter from Real Madrid last summer, is under contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2013. Reports in the Netherlands claim Sneijder could sign a two-year contract extension with the Champions League winners after the World Cup.

Please find a single post of me complaining of me buying young raw players. You've ignored my point that, you can't compare those who you mentioned to Sneijder and Berbatov, those two are far more established and seasoned international pros. No one was having a go at investing in youth.

It really is, isn't it?

Don't bid - We're doomed

Pay 30 mill - We overpay

Pay 20 million - We're skint and are purposely bidding low so that the offer is rejected

Just wow.

Sneijder is a great player but whether he will fit our system is something I'm not too sure about.

If some club bid 19m for Rooney (Im not saying that Sneijder is as good as Rooney) what would you say? If its true that we have bidded just 19m for Sneijder then we are deluded at best.

Of course they are, but getting in contact to declare your interest is a very different thing.

Thats the first step of negotiations.

The fact that Moratti has not come out and said "there is no way we will ever sell Sneijder" is actually very promising in my opinion. He doesn't want "to look into it in case he is tempted". That sounds to me like he feels Sneijder has his price.

Moratti did said that he will sell a prized asset this year. On the other hand it should have been Maicon and not Sneijder.
