Oh we move him to 10 again? we've already moved him from there because he wasn't good enough. There's only one place left for him and it's not on the pitch.

Only place he can play, other than that? its not on the pitch

I wouldn't even have him as the general of my eggy soldiers

Fecking awful. Played like he was a drunk. One of the worst captain performances you will see.

That second half was giving me flashbacks to his infamous 'performance' against Villa. Just horrendous.

With Hodgson's inevitable sacking that's now three managers in three years who have tried to build a team around Rooney and failed miserably. Will Mourinho be the fourth?

Let's hope Jose was watching that and going, "no fecking way I'm gonna get sacked because of this cnut."

If Jose plays him in midfield then we are in trouble. No engine, no vision, hardly able to trap a ball, cannot cope under pressure.

Sad how broken he seemed today. You'd think they were on easy street after the early pen, but after Iceland quickly equalized, it seemed the team (& Rooney) lost their minds & started booting it all over the place.

And to make matters worse, he'll still be first name on our team sheet next season.

Ridiculous how poor he has become.

If Rooney plays a key part in our season from central midfield, we have zero hopes in winning the Prem.

This constant pushing back of Rooney is just a sign of his failure. He started out as a striker, then moved back to number 10 and finally central midfield. At first he was not happy to play there because he was probably still good enough at 10, but now he is more willing to play there because he knows he is finished. Fergie knew it a long time ago. Let's hope Jose can also see it.

So as many predicted here. He finally got found out against top level opposition...

That's the worrying part. Iceland played well, but they're not top level opposition.

We have a small chance of qualifying for the champions league let alone premier league.

Probably.

We're stuck with him. Not sure what Mourinho will do with him.

I fecking love Fergie. He saw the signs. He dropped him. Moyes though that horrible prick giving him that contract. Mou won't have the balls to drop him. I hope he has the decency to retire or feck off to MLS or China

@SirAF and I agree.

this game has done that aspect a huge favour

Any team that is well drilled, presses him and denies him time on the ball (hell, that's not even necessary) will make him look average.

Which he is.

Because he's not a fecking midfielder. Hell even Carrick suffers the same fate and he was a great midfielder once upon a time.

He's not a midfielder because he's a striker.

A striker who's not really good enough anymore.

So (for some reason) we let him dictate where he plays.

Time to end this nonsense.

I'll be honest. I fecking hate him.

Yeah his time has passed.

But what are we going to do with him? No club in Europe will pay his wages.

This is not a knee jerk reaction, I said weeks ago that any team with the slightest of ambitions to achieve success will not play Rooney in midfield and I stand by that. He can do a decent job at best in midfield, nothing more.

Nothing I wrote is untrue. As an ex-United fan (I can't be arsed anymore, may as well support Starbucks or Apple) it's embarrassing that he's ahead of legends in the all time goal scorer list.

There is no chance Jose will accept this kind of shit in the middle of the park.
English Pirlo ffs.

It's unbelievable how everybody can see he's past it bar his managers.
