Wayne Rooney rejoins Everton | United save £30M by giving him £10M pay-off

Should have gone to the MLS. Thing is I am not even sure he would cut the mustard there, it is a very physical league with good athletes.

Why do people want him to do so badly?

I know he was a twat at times but he still did a lot to please the fans.

Nobody wishes him ill now that he's left. Its' just both sad and funny to see him at the moment.

Heck, we shouldn't be celebrating this. If anything, we have ensured Everton will continue to roll over for Liverpool in the league by taking Lukaku from them and giving them Rooney.

It's a complete mystery to me why anyone has any hope left. This is payback to Everton for Moyes. I know it wasn't their fault Moyes happened, but through Rooney at Everton I find petty joy in a small way. Have that, Everton, ha!

Don't forget they sold us Fellaini too.

Give him a few games to find his match rhythm. The lamb needs a few more turns on the skewer before he's warmed up

He slows play down sadly, I would be very surprised if he ever regains his form of a few years ago. It doesnt satisfy me to see one of my favourite ever players, who won everything with us in a state of drastic decline though unlike some strange minded folk amongst our fan base.

What's the deal with those chips he keeps attempting? IIRC he scored one against Boro in the same game he scored that volley, and he scored one against Portsmouth I think? These were both years ago. Since then, has he ever scored one? Why does he keep doing it?

Scoring a chip means he can get away with 10 shit performances. It's him buying himself time.

Exactly my feelings too. He's one of my all time favourites and seeing him decline like this makes me sad, I don't enjoy seeing him play a shadow of how he used to.

In a way it's sad. Occasionally you see a glimpse of defeat in his eyes and you know he must be thinking 'Christ, I've gone from running rings around Milan, Arsenal and City to struggling against a team from Slovakia'

I struggle to feel much sympathy though and I think one of the main reasons Utd fans feel a little vindictive toward Rooney is that we had to sit and watch crap performance after crap performance for 3/4 years whilst feeling like we were all slowly losing our marbles because our management couldn't see what was so obvious. Wasn't like he was a bit part player, he played every minute of every game running around like some bloke who had won a competition to get on during a pre-season game. I think fans of rival clubs struggle to understand what we were saying at the time, we weren't saying he had declined a little or lost a yard of pace, we weren't saying he is a decent squad player or will make an impact off the bench. We were saying this guy is totally and completely finished at any sort of reasonable level and it was so frustrating!

That probably isn't his fault, but it has soured all the good times for me

Wooow, he is coming to my home town, to play against Hajduk in EL. Hope he will continue with his performances, and will be in first 11.

How long before Everton realise he isn't good enough to be in their starting eleven, suspect it won't be until they he has tried and failed in 3 or 4 Different roles.

3 years is what it takes for us to see and admit it as it is, even today he still has his "rooney is still class" brigade somewhere.

Tbf the list of excuses is recyclable, so it'll takes one year for an excuse to run out to the next one.

The weird floated chip...

This will turn very ugly and pretty soon. I do have respect for him as our player but these last 2 seasons were horrifying to watch. A constant disbelief that he has fallen to such standards after what he was producing at an early age.

I still fear that he's coming back. I'm like a terrified peasant crossing himself while trembling inside my Carpathian council house.

He just needs to keep out of the sun or them fires that have been going on, he will turn bright pink! All the best Torcida

I don't think Koeman sees him as a starter for the PL. Only in these sort of low-profile EL games, PL games against the lower table teams or in tough games where his experience can come in handy.

This might have been the last time we saw classic Rooney? From 3:00 mins:

Form is temporary, class is permanent.
All the knee-jerking haters on the Everton forum simply have an agenda because he left them. Wayne needs to be given more time to play himself into form and get over this slump.

£150k a week for someone he doesn't intend to start every week? Nah.

Are we still paying some of his salary? I find it hard to believe that someone as greedy as Rooney would go from 250 or 300k to 150 instead of sitting on the bench here.

His player thread on Grand Old Team is genuinely painful. To be fair, most of them are already on the money, but some of them are just relentlessly deluding themselves, passing themselves off as better, more positive supporters.

One lad has quoted a post from this thread and a fair few of them have written it off altogether.

"Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?"

That's a polite way of putting it, anyway. The answer is no, we wouldn't say that. Not unless it was unequivocally true. Even reading their player thread is winding me up, and I'm not particularly fond of Everton.

 I genuinely feel for them.

We have paid up for half his first year salary according to reports. Whether that means he drops to that figure next year or they make it up to £300k I don't know.

To be fair, that is happening on every forum and the behavior is typical. He was absolutely battered during the game, in the heat of the moment. Then ends the game and the critics are still strong but some of the positives and hope are crawling in... Next days you're going in another circle where many of them will delude themselves about needing more game time, having pace around him or just as you said to claim that as the supporters they have to be behind him.

It happened here with Falcao for example for the whole season. Our Rooney thread went all bonkers but that is what will happen when you watch 2-3 seasons of such crap. And he still managed to have some support or excuse. In the end, he was celebrated for his reaction or behavior on the bench.

Everton thread will go the same route, only it will happen faster because many of them saw his United performances and many are aware that his body is shot.

I think total opposite he had gone there to start, how long before that changes is the question. I expect Koeman to do what LVG did and keep experimenting with different roles in hope Rooney rediscovers some form.

Sadly his legs have gone and eventually he will be benched. Wouldn't be surprised to see him only last a season and then go to MLS.

Maybe they should try playing him in midfield.
I hear his future is at No.6.

No, wait, he's more like an 8.

Actually he needs to be up top to utilise his finishing.

He's not scoring as he doesn't have the support. We need him at 10 to get the best out of him.

He needs to play a bit deeper now.

I hear his future's at No.6.

Just take him to the glue factory already.

I'm a HUGE fan of Wayne. I've defended him way longer than I should've around here. He does slow down pace of play and isn't creative but I'm hopeful he can find a way to be productive for Everton for a few years if he wants to keep playing. I'll be cheering for him.

Wish we sold him to Chelsea.
Would have been lovely seeing shedend in a civil war over him.
Mourinho was trying to sabotage us from the getgo in 2013.

Trying to get us to sign the fat feck and giving united Mata/Luiz in return.

I'm still chuffed Everton actually bought him. This isn't some poor form he's in; he's been a genuinely terrible player for at least 4 years now. If SAF had stayed on one more year he'd have been Chelsea's problem for the last four.

looking forward to the leaks of Koeman being a ballbreaker not using him correctly, and foreign Everton players not british enough
