My mate said "Rooney is just a slow starter, needs a run of games and will come good around October/November". Then went on to explain how Rooney just needs to play #9, which apparently he never got the opportunity to do at Utd, needs players around him with pace who are on his wavelength and that he has been made a scapegoat for Utd's struggles in the league.

When counting games for the 'he's played too many, of course he's burnt out' theory, you should probably deduct about 100 from Rooney's total considering his legs went ages ago.

For someone good at chips that would be an incredibly difficult shot to pull off, never mind someone like Rooney who has tried it at least once a game unsuccessfully for 10 years.

The chip is quite pointless but his involvement in the build up was very good. First touch and then getting himself quickly in that position.
Although, everything I mention is another proof how he's fallen because I was genuinely surprised by the way he played that ball in the build up.
