Brutal from Paddy Power
Who would have thought ten years ago that this lad would have been transferring for a free at age 31.
Just hope nobody tries claiming that this was a bad decision if Rooney finds form at Everton.
The fact is Rooney was done at United and if he can find good form at Everton then good for him.
Either way, the right decision for all sides and good luck to a club legend.
Poor sods.Been looking at an Everton forum and they're in for a bloody shock.
"Mourinho didn't give him a chance" is a particularly amusing line. On the whole, there's this widespread genuine acceptance that he's still a fantastic footballer: "the best touch in the squad". I know it must be nice to have him back, but that feeling won't last long.
It needs to be understood how much of a global attraction it is for fans to see legends and former players of their clubs back in their colours. But it seems like you do not consider him a legend, so I understand your perspective, but respectfully disagree.
Meanwhile it's extremely mature to freak out over differing viewpoints/opinions. There's only one truth and you have it, am I right
they've spent the last 13 years booing him and now they're welcoming him back with open arms
Agreed. Most strikers would have another 2/3 years of good stock where they could be an asset. The fact we'e willing to let him walk to get more game times sadly proves he's declined massively. Here's hoping for his own sake that the change of team revitalises him, but I doubt it. He'll probably score against usGreat player in his pomp but that we've essentially given him away at the age of 31 shows you how far his stock has plummeted - will be interesting to see whether we are subsidising his wages as it seems unlikely that he would take a big pay cut.
There's obviously been some issues like the transfer request and some lifestyle choices but he's played for us for 13 years, was a top player for most of them, won loads of trophies and leaves as our record goal scorer...not too shabby and deserves a good welcome back. I wish him well at Everton (obviously not against us) and hope he can rediscover some resemblance of form, rather than as some ceremonial transfer to sell merch.
If Rooney finds ridiculous form, say 2007-2012 level form, then it will be a bad decision but we're 99% sure that wont happen. I do think he can play at around 60-70 percent of that level which will be good for Everton.
Just watched a vid of his 250 odd goals which was 33 mins long!
Ridiculous amount of goals, I wonder how long Messi's would be?
Fair enoughI come here to get differing opinions and I'm offering mine now. Take it as you like it.
This has nothing to do with your treatment of him. Every player feels like he's not past it and who best to show it against than the team that thinks you are now.
I've recently watched a lot of Manchester United games from 2006-2009, and what a player Rooney was! So sad that he was not able to keep performing at that level. Wish him the best as long he doesn't score against us.
15% of this site aren't lunatics, clinically speaking. In this case, I'm fairly confident that if you asked football fans if their record goalscorer was a club legend, the vast majority would say yes. With the remainder being bitter, nonsensical lunatics.
Good. He was never very good against you. The red mist doesn't help him.He will definitely make it personal to take points off the club that no longer wanted him. Benteke and Carroll do the same to us.
I also believe Rooney will get something like Ronnie when he will return at OT with Everton.
Below the return of Ronaldinho at the Nou Camp following his move for Milan.
Rooney truly deserves to have something like that.
He will definitely make it personal to take points off the club that no longer wanted him. Benteke and Carroll do the same to us.
watching that clip above, among the first few goals you see this even just running away to celebrate. Seems like 20 years ago in comparisonIt's slighty depressing watching old clips of him due to how much faster/sharper he looked. It wasn't just that he had more pace, he'd react quicker and his decision making was instant. He'd turn the defender and get a shot away in one movement at times.
Nowadays, you can actually see him slowly figuring out what to do with the ball while it's at his feet...and that's when you know he's having a good game, because when he's having a bad one he never has control of the ball long enough to start thinking about anything.
Saying that, he could still do well at Everton if he gets consistent games. I mean now instead of having Ross Barkley performinng some kind of poor pisstake of Rooney, they can just actually play Rooney instead.
Sad indictment of the Everton squad."the best touch in the squad"
We've sold his wife too!
