Was he really a striker partner though?
Yeah, When giggs played on the wings.
Was he really a striker partner though?
I wrote to that other guy, scroll up. Cba to write it all again.
Pathetic is that people are selling themselves as UTD fans, a club they love and cherish yet they're fully prepared to ignore the fact that Rooney has disrespected the club in two occasions, once can be called a mistake, two times is something else.
Could it be they're actually Rooney and not UTD fans?
As I said IMO he's a UTD great, but not a legend.
In 2010 yes in 2013 no, so wrong.
In 2013 perhaps but definitely not in 2010, do you have quotes to prove he did?

He asked to leave i doubt in 2010 at least it ever got to the stage of asking which particular club he did or did not want to go.
Wrong again unfortunately mate.

None of what you've said here constitutes blackmail mate, except maybe the part about his wages being doubled. But you said you were not implying that Rooney blackmailed the club for money. To blackmail a person or people, the person doing the blackmailing is ultimately looking to receive something.
So what did Rooney blackmail the club for again?
When any footballer signs a contract , it would be foolish of them not to ask what plans the club had for the future.
Do you think there is the slightest chance Rooney felt the club were not upholding their part of the bargain & felt ' disrespected ' ?
Anyways it's all speculation. The guy is a legend.
No, basic maths.bullshit
wow. you must have had a miserable time in past 13 years while the rest of us were loving it.
It's a strange one really.
It's a sad end to his time at United as really he should still be the main man here, leading the line and banging in the goals. Sadly he's faded away dramatically and just doesn't appear to have the consistency to be at the very top. Whether that's just natural regression or he had simply lost his motivation remains to be seen. In spells Rooney has still displayed excellence and ability so I don't think it's all gone just yet..
It's sad because he should be retiring at the club and still delivering performances worthy of his legend. When you look at Ronaldo and what he's doing and even Zlatan last year that should be Wayne. Still wearing red, still the main man. That's what hurts.
Despite the criticism that his hearts not in it anymore watching him go berserk on the touchline last season when Ibrahimovic won us the League Cup at the death and seeing him celebrating with the Europa League Trophy shows that's not the case. He still loves the club and he still loves winning. It's a hard one to understand.
Let's hope he gets a spark from his move and gives us one last look at his genius. Hard not to be choked it won't be here though, let's be honest.
Thanks Wayne and see you next season. You were amazing.
Isn't Herrera currently over the Atlantic at 40,000 feet? Seems like more social media PR agency/management run nonsense.
You didn't answer the question at all.
You suggested he wanted to leave for footballing reasons, which if anything, is the complete opposite of blackmailing the club.
In the first instance, he never said anything about moving to City. He had apparently submitted a transfer request, but at no stage had he indicated that he wanted to move to City. In fact, I think he came out and said if he were to leave it would have been abroad. That was all media speculation fuelled by City (and Chelsea) declaring their interest. The saga ended with Rooney signing a new contract and being reassured that we were going to invest in some quality in the squad, complete with assurances that he was to be a key part of the team.
He outright denies even handing in a transfer request in 2013. Fergie stated it and Scholes mentioned it, I think, but there never seemed to be any concrete confirmation that he wanted out. There was a lot of worry after Fergie retired, and Chelsea tried to capitalise on the uncertainty by luring one of our key players away. He repeatedly reiterated his desire to stay, and of course, actually stayed.
His wages were not doubled at any point in those sagas, but he did get a bit of a pay increase during the first, I believe. However, you said this wasn't about money, then used a (false) example of a wage increase as evidence for him blackmailing the club.
He was playing for Manchester United at that moment, a club that is always in for the trophies, especially in that era when he played under SAF, so I don't follow how was he disrespected by the club?
As I said only he himself knows the reason.
Do you consider Roy Keane a legend? He held the club to ransom in 1999/2000 season and openly flirted with both Bayern and Juventus.
We had to completely obliterate our wage structure to keep him.
It doesn't stop me from viewing him as one of the clubs greatest ever captains and like Rooney, a legend.
Rio Ferdinand also openly flirted with Chelsea before signing a huge new contract.
It happens all the time.
What different it is than ronaldo throwing tantrums at madrid in 2013 and now.
That's why you have legends and greats and many people take the word "legend" lightly.

Every player at the club is here for the money and the high probability of success.Do you consider Roy Keane a legend? He held the club to ransom in 1999/2000 season and openly flirted with both Bayern and Juventus.

I really can't be bothered to go and look through ton of web pages in order to find his exact quote.
Both times it was due to him feeling the club won't be as competitive and won't be up there at the top battling for silverware.
Sure I may have been exaggerating when I said he got his wages doubled, maybe better choice of words was "got a significant raise". There how that sounds?
Only he himself can know the real reasons why he wanted to leave.
Point?
Your way is the only right one I assume?
