Wayne Rooney: Manchester United All Time Top Goalscorer

He was once a top quality player. Now where near to Ronaldo who was like 10 times better then him but he was world class at times.

Why is that relevant to this thread? Please tell me.

I don't like the man either but Jesus, does every fecking thread have to be turned into some absolute shitfest by the same ol' usual suspects?

Credit where it's due, it's a huge achievement.

Congrats Wayne! You truly deserved it!

All in all he had a great career and will be regarded as an United legend, and rightly so.

Lets not let few moaners to boring guys to derail this thread.
Expected them to come though, really sad bunch of people.

The thread is about Wayne Rooney. That post was about saying something positive about him

First of, well done. Been a good servant to the club and has had his fair amount of brilliant moments and longer periods of top class performances.
One of the more iconic players of the club, legend to some even. That's fantastic!

Now then...
Title says Wayne Rooney Manchseter United all time top goalscorer.
Now you can be a nittpicky unreasonable person and take it as him being there alone and rage like a madman, or you could shut the feck up and just celebrate the good times we've had with him.

But lets examine it, just for some of you:
Wayne Rooney. Yup, right player.
Manchester United. Yup, right club.
All time top goalscorer. Yup, right title.

You can have 50 players on the same goal-tally, but number 51 will still be the clubs top goalscorer along with the rest. This is about Wayne Rooney, not SBC.

Rooney hasn't played 543 games for United, has he?

It's his thirteenth season at the club now and he has indeed made 543 appearances for us!

Would love him to beat the record by about 15-25 goals-could conceivably do this as he could be around next season at leat

Had no reason to doubt the number so far...why would you think so? It's from mufcinfo, pretty great United stats site.

Just seemed a lot for someone who didn't start his career there and was only 31!

More credit to Rooney that he started so young and never really missed games though injury.

A lot of haters out there for Rooney especially the newer and younger Utd fans but he has been a great player for us.
Well done the Lad and hope he comes on against Liverpool and bags the winner to break the record.

Great achievement. He has been a fantastic player for us. I guess he'll be involved against Hull, so he could surpass Sir Bobby then.

He's missed decent amounts of football. He's broken the metatarsal 3 times! He always does miss 3-5 PL games a season easily

I hope we're not in the position that we need to send him on to score the goal but yes a winner against them would be the perfect way!

So true.

And indeed, that might sound a lot to people, but I got used to freaks like Giggs and Scholes, so, was never really impressed. :)

I remember when I was 13 being so excited. My dad took us to Old Trafford and I watched him against Galatasary. He scored a hat trick that game and when I went home that night I changed my top birthday present to a shirt with Rooney on the back.

Today, 13 years later I was at the game with my mates and I saw him equal that record. I'd had a few beers so I actually got a bit choked up. United has been part of my life for all these years and it's made me who I am. Me and my Dad still go but he's getting on a bit and he struggles to enjoy the cramped space. Hoping to have a kid soon so I can take all three of us.

United are fecking brilliant and so many joyful memories and moments have been delivered by Wayne Rooney. He's also fecking broken my heart when he asked to move to City. But as time has moved on and he's matured (so have I) I can't help but look at the lad with a massive fondness.

Thank you Wayne for giving me some of the very best memories of my life.

I'm delighted for him. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see him break the record with a winner against Liverpool.

Fantastic achievement. One more memory to add to the list, in a stellar career.
A true icon of Manchester United, it'll feel strange (and a bit sad) when he moves on.

Hats off, hoping he will be very useful from now on as an attacking cover.

Pleased for him. He's been a great player for the club and has contributed to some amazing times. For all the stick we give him for his performances over the past few seasons, we should remind ourselves of the highs he has given us as fans. He's a major part of this club's history and will now go down as the club's (joint - for now) top goalscorer. A great achievement.

going by caf stats, rooney has 23 appearances and 4 goals right now, you think he has 15-25 goals in him from now til the end of next season? with him nowhere near up to the standard we should be chasing and rapidly getting phased out the team?

i think that's quite unrealistic. i shudder just to think of him being heavily involved next season.

Well done wazza.

Legend in my eyes, spent his career here, dealt with bad spells and shitty press. Provided amazing moments over the years.
Sad times the last few years losing all this 'furniture' of the club who we've got so used to seeing around and being Man United.

Premature ethreadulation

This will jinx him and he won't break the record until our tour of America when he comes off the bench to score the equaliser vs the Green Bay Packers

Legend.
To have almost a goal every 2 games record for a striker that played more as a 2nd striker for most of his career, its pretty damn special.

He has achieved as much as Sir Bobby bar the World Cup...

I agree with you, I think he should have something, a statue while he's still playing seems a bit strange though, especially with his rep among some fans these days.
Give it 10 years and people will look back on his time more nostalgically and a statue would be recieved better maybe.

I certainly don't understand the hate some fans have of him.

Congrats to him! It is quite a big achievement, and something not easy to do.

He hasn't. He has played as main striker or second striker almost always bar the two LVG years when he was played in that position the random number generator that LVG used decided to play.
