Wayne Rooney: Manchester United All Time Top Goalscorer

Well done, fully deserved. His last 2 seasons haveny been the best but I like him in this new role as a squad player. Brings loads of experience and a lot of quality off the bench still. Happy for him though.

Following his own logic the past counts for nothing.

The past counts alot but paying handsomely a former player to keep on playing football is stupid

Brilliant! But shouldn't we wait until he's actually overtaken Sir Bobby's record? They're tied now afaik.

Err he hasn't beaten the record yet.
He's equalled it.

The answer to the question "who is United's all time top goalscorer?" Is "Sir Bobby Charlton and Wayne Rooney", so the title is accurate.

Title doesn't say he has beaten the record though! He's our all time top goalscorer. Fact. Even it it's alongside Sir Bobby at the moment.

Congratulations Wayne.

So stick "Joint" in the title then.

It's great that he's got the record in one of his best performances in a long while. Playing like the creative hub he was a few years ago.

Couldn't agree more, he was at the heart of almost every chance we created today. Congratulations to him, it's a great achievement!

Then make a thread to discuss that.

Ah not to forget how much dedication he'd shown throughout the years. I think he only handled a transfer request once or twice right? What a legend.

Maybe we'll play some 3rd division team later on. He might be useful to have around again

Bit premature Rado?, he's only equal for now but I'm sure he'll get it.

Congratulations Wayne, brilliant signing and has provided some great moments over the years.

Great achievement. It is always great to see positive records broken by the club/players

He's been here for 15 years. Should he not get a testimonial at the caf first?

Congratulations Rooney, it's an amazing career achievement. I don't think you can blame him for the media insistence that he's still brilliant (though some would argue that he can be blamed for that!) though it is frustrating. It's important to look past that and look at his whole career, not just the last few seasons

Good bargaining chip with China.

Don't talk about like that about this legend. He's still relevant you know....just in case we play another testimonial game soon. That unless of course the legend decide to handle another transfer request

Rooney has another 10 years in him, form is temporary and class as they say.....

How did he not get the second goal today! Hope he beats the record vs Liverpool

Great achievement. Not many players stay at a club long enough to achieve something like this.

Its a fantastic achievement, to be on a level with one of our greatest players. Whats the games to goals between them?

It's pathetic that people can't seem to find any positive in relation to Rooney even when he has achieved something remarkable today. There are other threads to moan about his heavy touches, let's flog him to China and he is a legend/not legend debate.

He was once a top quality player. Now where near to Ronaldo who was like 10 times better then him but he was world class at times.

 predicably so

Threads like these are going to look really weird to future people seeking them out. "Why is the thread congratulating one of our greatest players breaking our goal scoring record full of so many wankers moaning about it?"

Well done to Wayne for a phenomenal achievement. The trajectory of his career at United might not be what I had expected after his CL debut but to equal Sir Bobby by the age of 31 is still brilliant.

People are weird.

It's cringeworthy. Personally I don't get it at all.
