An odd move to say the least, wish them all the best though!
It suggests to me that he’s having trouble with the dressing room. Phelan’s role at United was always to be closer to the players than the staff. He’s the one the players trust, confide in and he’s there to galvanise them. I imagine that’s what Rooney has called him in for.Yeah, don't know what to make of it.
Sometimes a member of staff is seemingly foisted on a manger who is in trouble. Rumours then start that he'll be there to take over should the manager get sacked.
As Rooney and Phelan must know each other quite well is he being brought in for the above reason, or because Wayne has requested him?
If it's because Rooney wanted him then he must still have a fair bit of power or be trusted to a degree. If on his last legs there you're not going be as keen to appoint new staff members that the manager asked for, or at least that's what I'd have thought because he might be fired soon and then the staff might go too with all their contracts needing to be paid up.
Plymouth are actually pretty well run.He keeps playing the game on Nightmare instead of Easy or Normal. His club selection has mostly been atrocious. The kind of clubs in the kind of dire straits a manager needs real expertise to traverse. Wayne doesn't seem to realise he's a managerial novice, not some specialist fixer with a unique set of skills.
He's perhaps got one more chance to do this after Plymouth, but he's probably just lost favour and the opportunity to manage Easy and Normal on the difficulty settings of club management in competitive leagues.
I bet Middlesbrough are kicking themselves for drawing with them. One win in 13 (similar record to Pep) and even that one was seven weeks ago. Think they might give him the crucial Oxford game but he probably needs a win there to have a chance of keeping his job.
It was a tough job to take. I really don't know why he did.
Same can be said for Ruud. Not sure what our 2 legends were thinking. It was a tough job to take. I really don't know why he did.
Yeah, I don’t think management is for him. But he’s taken some stupid jobs, which has not helped. The Birmingham job, he was doomed from day one, as the previous manager was liked by fans, and he needed to start well. Derby had points deducted. It was a tough job to take. I really don't know why he did.
he probably didn't have many options
He's lucky to get those jobs.Is he broke as feck or something? As someone else pointed out, his job choices are mad for someone of his profile (surely one of the Saudi teams would take him on like Gerrard for instance) and Coleen randomly going to the Jungle, usually a sign of desperation on its own isn't it?

can’t even go out shagging the day before losing to a relegation rival these days.I like him but he will probably be sacked soon. Not only for their poor performance in the league but his unprofessionalism off the pitch.
I had a look and that Celebrity stint earns Colleen millions. She's almost doubled her social following and is probably more relevant in the public eye than ol Wayne. Is he broke as feck or something? Think that’s it for Wazza. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s sacked in the morning or perhaps tonight.
SorryI realise that top players don't always make a top manager, I've never said otherwise. The best managers ever for me were average players at best.
There are always exceptions though, and in Rooneys case, he isn't jumping for the big jobs early like Gerrard, Lamps, Nev and is learning the tricks of the trade, so to speak in the lower leagues.
I do believe that Rooney will do well as a manager and I have no problem with anyone coming back and quoting me on this.
