You should move on. He was 18 you were 49, you were never going to build a life together.

Professionalism, really? Coming back most summers out of shape and needing a month to be fit to play, being suspended for games because he could not resist gobbing off into the camera? Not the word I'd use, had he been more professional he wouldn't be finished at 31

You are either 12 and don't remember or bullshitting to fit your agenda. The one single season he hit the ground running in August he was getting praised left right and centre for being in match shape at the start of the season, that's not praise worthy it's the minimum we should expect from an alleged proffesional. He has taken shit care of his body and as such has no one to blame but himself for the way he is now. That's completely exaggerating it. Until almost recently he'd play United quality football back from summers. The reason he's like this at 31 is because he's constantly been playing professional football at the highest level possible since 16! With the way he plays too, it's no surprise. Players that can extend their careers over that timeline are rare breeds: Giggs, Zanetti, Ronaldo(probably will) and you can't expect that.
Not to mention getting drunk as hell while on England duty at the team hotel
It's utterly bizarre, I thought the emperors new clothes was just a fairy tale! Its a joke, isn't it.
Credit him for trying?, really.
Credit him for staying with us, earning upwards of 100k per week OVER the going rate for his talent all the way through his stay with us.
Jeez

It's more the usual suspects who decide because he scored he should stay next season all of a sudden, and can't accept he's done that people are reacting to. He didn't do much wrong today, to be fair he didn't do much at all but that's better than most of his performances this season. This forum is just bizarre. He's only played because no one else is fit or fresh, he's going to be gone in the summer, he's put in a shift and scored a goal and yet he's being bashed
If Zlatan doesn't stay, Rooney being here in the same role as this season is fine really. He's barely played so that's exactly what we all want right? He's only played when everyone is tired and he's a good enough option for that. It's more the usual suspects who decide because he scored he should stay next season all of a sudden, and can't accept he's done that people are reacting to. That's fine for me, but personally I do t think zlatan or Rooney are a good fit for the style of play we should be aiming for anymore. If Zlatan doesn't stay, Rooney being here in the same role as this season is fine really. When things aren't going well and heads are dropping, people cry out for a leader. That's what he brings to the pitch imo, his experience and leadership. It's a shame he's declined so much physically beacuse I think he still has something to offer.
Agreed. I want some pace up top. It's been great seeing us last weekend, ET on Thursday and the first half today. I reckon more pace in the final third would have helped us loads in all those draws at home. That's fine for me, but personally I do t think zlatan or Rooney are a good fit for the style of play we should be aiming for anymore.
I think we've missed that a few times this season. Not necessarily turning games around but I think he's a far better captain than most, he has the respect of both the players and the officials.Has he offered that? During his captaincy this team has been unable to turn deficits and picking up points when the going gets tough.
Which is why the refs routinely book him for dissent, like today, or give him a stern talking to for repeatedly moaning.I think we've missed that a few times this season. That's him doing his job. I don't want a captain that keeps his mouth shut when we're getting hard done by.Which is why the refs routinely book him for dissent, like today, or give him a stern talking to for repeatedly moaning.
But do you really think he has the respect of the referees? IMO they clearly think he's an annoying twat and are more likely to give a decision against him than for him because of that. That's him doing his job. I don't want a captain that keeps his mouth shut when we're getting hard done by.
