Always happy to see him scoring. With Ibra's injury there's a place for an experienced striker in the team. Up to him to get sharper and put himself in the positions where he's most effective. He can still finish as well as anyone else we've got.

Who cares? Sounds like you're saying you'll be disappointed if the media don't slate him. Why?

Far from it. Delighted we're 2-0 up and there's goal threat from Wayne.

Rooney's smile makes me happy.

Probably the same smile he had on his face when he hired out that 49 year old granny at 18 when he was with Coleen, or when he was banging some slappy, Murdoch Sun paper wanabe in a hotel room when his misses (again Coleen) was at home pregnant. Sell him, he's done.

Great finish with his left foot!

I love him, he's really impressed me in his attitude this season.

I think we should keep him (but let Zlatan go).

Wouldn't be against him staying another year and subbing on here and there, but not if it means we don't go after a Zlatan replacement.

As I said in the match day thread. Time for him to leave us on a real high. Hopefully he can find some gas in the tank to get us over the line these last few games.

Ray Wilkins is rolling back the years with today's display. Really key goal though jokes aside.

Are you proud of yourself now?

I was just delighted seeing him play for one of his last ever appearances. A goal is just

Who needs rival fans when you have guys like this who support United?

Wow.

Fecking hell.

It was a good goal from Rooney and we have been struggling to score goals like this inside the box. We have many crosses across the goal without any player attacking it.

You should move on. He was 18 you were 49, you were never going to build a life together.

Yeah same. I meant let Zlatan go, replace him with a young top striker - but keep Wayne as the experienced man in the dressing room and off the bench.

Basically Wayne as a forward line utility man. Think he's actually really valuable in that role (as we're seeing).

No white text?

Nope.

One of them is the greatest goalscorer in our club's history, the captain, and a player who's dedicated his entire career to us.

And the other, while a legend, is a 35 year old who last week was haggling for more money before signing again, and is now out for a long time with an injury that will see him lose even more pace, and surely lose some strength.

We've looked better both these 2 PL games without Zlatan, and while I want him to recover and make a come back (he's too much of a legend for his career to end like that), I don't feel a club with our ambitions is now the place to be doing that.

Extremely well taken goal. That's like the good old 30/season Rooney right there. We definitely need those goals. The king is back again. Like a new signing.

I wouldn't keep Rooney just cause he's a legend. Maybe one year with a rare start if that.
Also are you certain Ibra was haggling over more money? Or it was something else?
We had games in which we looked good although Zlatan played, it's not that simple.

I think people need to stop the hyperbole. He's been pedestrian and managed to bundle one in with the help of a big deflection.

I'm delighted with the goal and as I said above, would love to see him go on a run and bundle in 5 more before the season is out but let's have a little objectivity in here.

He's a wum, I assumed everyone knew that by now.

Sorry to be picky but he has dedicated feck all to us, he stayed because we gave him more money than anyone else, he is essentially finished at the age of 31 because he couldn't dedicate enough summers out of the kebab house and off the fags. He's done and needs to leave. Hopefully with a few goals between now and the seasons end so he can do it with his head held high, but still needs to go.

If you think any professional player at this level stays for the "love" of the club you're fooled. Everyone does it as a career decision.

I am glad this kind of goal went our way, but people calling it a good goal are surely drunk? I am not sure that goal panel will actually give it to him.

I completely agree which is why claiming any modern player dedicated their career to a club is daft. Not just Rooney.

Fair enough but let's not use it as a stick to beat him with. You can't deny the professionalism Rooney has always shown whenever he's been on the pitch. He always gives 100% and yes that is expected but he could have been pulling of a Balotlelli or something.

Rooney; Captain, Leader, Legend.

Take note JT.

Professionalism, really? Coming back most summers out of shape and needing a month to be fit to play, being suspended for games because he could not resist gobbing off into the camera? Not the word I'd use, had he been more professional he wouldn't be finished at 31

That's completely exaggerating it. Until almost recently he'd play United quality football back from summers. The reason he's like this at 31 is because he's constantly been playing professional football at the highest level possible since 16! With the way he plays too, it's no surprise. Players that can extend their careers over that timeline are rare breeds: Giggs, Zanetti, Ronaldo(probably will) and you can't expect that.
