Was poor tonight TBH. His first touch is rapidly deteriorating and he had some bad passes and decisions that created chances for CP.
He was pretty good today I thought. Forced a tremendous save from Hennesey and he had some good touches in and around the box.
We're back to the future...
I think he was more frustrated at the two bad decisions that went against us to be fair to him.
Those six game runs of form that he used have are now down to four.
It's like he's trying his hardest not to break Charlton's record!
Apart from that one shot, he offered nothing of note. Ran around a little but that's about it.

Although they showed a clip of him throwing his boots(I think) and Mourinho looking over his shoulder and telling him something. So maybe it was a bit of both(angry at the referring and getting subbed).
I think this is about right. Some nice moments but ultimately he's not good enough to be a starter for Utd.
This should be his final season here. Going to be really touch and go with him breaking the record if this is his final season.
Gave him a 6. His contribution was mostly positive. In his prime he'd no doubt have buried at least one of the chances he had today, even if none of them were much more than half chances. I thought he did well to even get that early header from Mata's cross goalwards.
Not a great game which is a shame as I thought he would be rested. Maybe he needs to be used as a sub or start when we play a 4231 formation (which allows the interchange like he had with Mkhi)
He works hard but he really is just a very average footballer now.

He was making an elbow gesture towards the 4th official as he went off, then seemed to be just letting off steam by clearing off his boots against the wall. Jose obviously heard the banging so looked around. Nothing to see, not what bt tried to tell us anyway.
He wasn't actively bad like he has been at times this season but still didn't offer much at all, one decent shot aside.
Decent but unspectacular today. Good enough performance for someone filling in in the absence of Miki and Martial, but not enough to threaten the starting line-up once one of them is back.

Martial of last season and Rooney is benched but he has been more effective than martial this season

After the game you could see him give Pogba a hug, with a massive grin on his face. Whatever was bothering him, he got over it quick enough.
Martiaql has doe well in his past few games and there's signs it'll come together soon. He's the future of our club and should be given time to get back to his best form. Rooney however is completely past his best and should be sold.
I think it's very telling that he was taken off when we needed a goal to win the game. I think it hurt him, he usually comes on when we need a goal or he stays on, just changes position. If he doesn't know it already, now he knows Jose doesn't have much faith in him. Gone in the summer surely

I think people are having too high expectations with him based on his past class of course.
Like how he would have buried those chances back in the days. Seeing how he miscontrolled or weak shot or couldn't connect the ball quite right from the cross made you feel super frustrated because of it.

Any power his beard was giving him seems to be dwindling now.
When himself and bastian are off the wage bill that'll be nearly 500,000 a week worth of player. Mad! it would be Much much less if the contracts were performance related!
Both have been class players in the past but I'm not a Rooney fan. He hasn't deserved top bracket best player in the world type money for a long time. the team has been terrible for a few years with him as the focal point and it's time to move on. He's a crazily expensive squad player at best now and anything good he can contribute is a bonus because he isn't going anywhere on that contract. He won't get that anywhere other than China/India type leagues but why would he move there when he's still relatively young? Maybe he'll be hungry to be a starter elsewhere in Europe but I don't see it personally. I don't see him rediscovering his best form again for us tbh.

Nearly scored an excellent goal if not for Hennessey but didn't do much otherwise. The clock is ticking but at least it's not a problem in every single match now

I agree there should be a time to move on but if you sell him who plays if martial is injured? Rashford? Lingard? Depay? No way, he's had bad games but this season he has and certainly recently been more effective and contributed more than martial
I'll he happier when there is a suitable replacement to come on. Rashford lw simply does not work

Agreed, Rashford is brilliant up the middle but has been poor almost every time out wide.

I must have seen a different game to everybody else last night and thought Rooney played really well. He pressed with the team, didn't make any individual mistakes, got into some good positions in the box and engineered a good effort himself.
And this is from a guy who has wanted him out of the club since 2012!
