Cracking goal and he didnt look any worse than the rest of our team in the end tonight but we still need better in our squad.

Still hasn't played a whole game as a striker this season.. We'll see if he has two 90mins/3days in him but obviously we need him going forward..

I don't see you jumping to the defence of Darmian or Fellaini or Schneiderlin.
I jump to their defence when supposed United fans hate on them unfairly. It doesn't happen to Darmian and Schneiderlin often, but I've defended Fellaini loads of time. I'm one of the few who actually does defend him on here!

Like I said: I'm a United fan.

By the way, I think Rooney doesn't deserve to be first choice (I posted as much a couple of days ago). But I don't actively hate him. I don't focus on his negatives and I don't minimise his positives. I want him to do well and hope he can turn his form around. That makes me an outsider on here, and it really shouldn't.

Was very average again, but it was a lovely goal. Makes me even more angry at him that he doesn't shoot like that more often. It looks so easy to him to generate the power but he never does it?? Shoot like that all the time ffs!

He gets the ball and scores a goal
Wayne Wayne Rooney

Cracking goal, poor performance, the chance he missed in the first half due to his horrendous first touch was criminal.

Typical goal Wayne would have scored more than 10 years ago. What a beauty. It's crazy the kind of long range shots he can take. I remember seeing him take a wild shot from the sideline at the middle of the pitch - the shot missed the target but was constantly raising millimeter by millimeter until it his the commercial banners next to the post. Must have been a 50-60 yard shot that didn't lose one bit of energy.

Whilst the whole team performed poorly, as captain he showed nothing on the pitch. Should have score an easy effort early on to level the game and who knows after that, but yet again, his touch was shocking. A great goal, but far too late in the game for him to be pulling out his usual 1 minute of good football. The sooner he gets the record then he can feck off. Not good enough as a player, a captain at the moment and the team are consistently want when he plays.

Very frustrating that he doesn't strike the ball with that technique more often.

Sometimes it's like he is a golfer that has all the right clubs in the bag but is constantly choosing the wrong one

Ahh I love the pathetic bitterness after his goal. Especially the "oh that's another 7 starts for him" after he's been benched for all our recent PL games. Just appreciate that he's at least one of the few who actually seem to give a shit.

And before the "you're just a fanboy"-brigade comes running, yes he was poor like everyone else but he, unlike the rest of the cowards, tries to do something about it.

The goal will gloss over his poor performance. Maybe if his touch was better when being put through on goal the result would have been different.

Great goal poor performance. How can't he control a football??

That first touch for the chance was awful even by Rooney standards. Also the obsession with opening his body up and playing it to the right is just ridiculous

Goal aside, such a poor performance. We look so poor creatively with him at number 10 as opposed to Mata. We just dont create that many chances with him. He does love pinging it out wide though.

Good goal, poor performance. Should not be starting for us in any situation

Detest the guy. No where near good enough at the top level, his touch is woeful and his constant spraying the ball to the right is the most infuriating aspect of anyones game I have ever seen

Tonight's posts are why Rooney "fans" say there are posters with agendas here. That touch in the first half was the only thing he did poorly and yet he's getting slated. He looked sharp in the first half and was decent in the second and scored a wonder goal and almost got a second.

You clearly don't belong on the caf with that mindset, no matter which player you are talking about.

Superb goal, but he's really past it. Was poor tonight I thought, that chance in the first half summed him up.

Maybe this goal can be a turning point for him, but I highly doubt it.

I'd take ruining 10 more games just to see 3 more goals like that. Great goal that makes him instantly our MOTM, but besides that he was unsurprisingly bad. Ibra and Rooney should only share same pitch when they're getting substituted, one for another.

That's just stupid.

He'd have been one on one with the keeper. It's not like he miscontrolled it coming out of the sky on the halfway line. It was a golden opportunity.

What disappointed me was when he scored, he didn't grab the ball and roar encouragement at his team mates. He kinda acted like we were 6-0 down and it was a consolation goal. You watch someone like Aguero, or even Defoe, score in the same circumstances, they run up and fight the keeper for the ball, before sprinting back to the halfway line, egging their team on along the way.

I just wish some of the players at the club would grow a pair and start giving as much of a shit as the fans do.

I agree completely with your sentiment about the players and attitude. But in this case, to be fair, he was 30 yards from goal it was clear another player grabbed it and he did try to rally if you watch replay.

Don't know why I'm cutting a single one of these frauds some slack though

Great strike but why can't he do that more often!

I don't get this question. Do you think he can just do that whenever he wants?

A long range goal is a rarity, not something you can rely on.

I thought he was awful tonight. It just needs to end. As soon as we put him and Ibra together I knew it was game over.

I agree with your point. To be honest, I don't particularly rate him these days but I take real issues with some of the posts. Posters from wherever in the world saying they "hate" and "detest" him. It's utterly cringy to read and genuinely knocks me sick.
