Not all of us consider him a club legend and I don't think calling him a mercenary is too far from the truth. I have no trouble believing he would have joined Chelsea had we not bent over backwards to make him one of the highest paid players in the world.

He is a club legend there's not really a debate about that, or at least its not worth us having the debate anyway. He has been with us for 10 years the associations with the word mercenary don't make sense, he always showed great passion which he used to be exalted for and he is the captain, again this is probably suggesting a pretty solid relationship with the club, being captain and all. A transfer that didn't actually happen and we don't actually know the whole story for isn't really much of a rebuttal.

That shot certainly wasn't the worst part of his game, he had about 12 men in front of him, definitely definitely should have hit the target but in comparison to his three dribbling attempts in that video that shot was a beauty.

You'd think the minimum would be getting it on target though wouldn't you?
With that little pressure, a nice ball to hit, and being that close to goal?

Having rewatched it twice, its clear he had plenty of time to set himself, so yeah hitting the target was the minimum really. After that its in the lap of the Gods as to whether or not it goes in.

There's no point bringing him on in midfield if he's to come on despite what he might think about his suitability to that role. He played well vs Fener when he was upfront and that is where he should play if he does come on but then now we have another undroppable and unsubbable striker so that's not happening.
What is it with the Rooney fans with the constant need to find another player to savage in order to defend their Rooney?

Its happened with countless players now, including Mata.

Yes Zlatan is failing in the striking department, but Rooney hardly had a shot on target against Ferne, you'd swear he was amazing listening to some of the comments on here.

Yep, even an average Rooney performance gets crazy praise from some. Laughable, really.

Its crazy some want Ibra dropped for Rooney. Despite the poor finishing, Ibras all round play at times is miles ahead of anything Rooney has produced for years.

Wanting Rashford or Martial up top instead is the logical opinion to have should you want Ibra dropped.

Its a squad game. It would hardly be seen as 'dropping', as Ibra is likely to start against Swansea.

Last game against Feberbache, I personally felt Rooney had a good game. He linked play very well and was involved in 2 of the goals we scored in open play.

Fenerbahce 2:1 Man Utd
Groundhog corner. How many times is he going to be allowed to take the same shite corner?

Awful touch for that pass from Martial but been decent otherwise. Touch has not looked bad and had some decent turns and passes. Really should have controlled that pass and scored though.

He has had a couple of decent plays but overall his touch has been woeful.

His touch seems a bit sharper in tight spaces, apart from the chance from martial's pass annoyingly.

Agreed. The ball hasn't bounced off him and he's looked all right but that one crucial touch in the box was costly. We need a new striker asap.

Not terrible but just doesn't offer anything hundreds of other players couldn't do better

Somethings got to give he's toast this is what we'd class as a good performance from him and he's still stinking. I don't even want to have an agenda against him I just cant bare too watch him anymore.

Things have sunk so low that a couple bog standard passes that reach their target is hailed as Rooney doing okay. It's a sad state of affairs really.

He was 5 meter clear of the defender and he still managed to lose the ball cause of his first touch. Feck me...

It was genuinely horrific. Couldn't believe how s-t that was.

The commentator said that he was asleep and not expecting the ball when he got the ball for that chance but he wasn't. He knew excactly that he will receive the ball and he still fecked up that touch.

He's a decent squad option, it's just a shame he's on such huge wages and is captain.

If he was on 150k a week and not captain I'd be glad to keep him here. And use his experience and ability to offer cover for a number of positions.

He's the footballer equivalent of Moyes; everyone knows he's awful but a sense of misguided loyalty clouds peoples judgement and they willingly accept mediocrity.

If Rooney played for Fenerbahce and they offered him on a free we'd never go near him.

Yeah, We don't even get to see even a flash of what he used to be its actually really sad to watch his downfall theirs just no way he's coming back from this.
