Not all of us consider him a club legend and I don't think calling him a mercenary is too far from the truth. I have no trouble believing he would have joined Chelsea had we not bent over backwards to make him one of the highest paid players in the world.
He is a club legend there's not really a debate about that, or at least its not worth us having the debate anyway. He has been with us for 10 years the associations with the word mercenary don't make sense, he always showed great passion which he used to be exalted for and he is the captain, again this is probably suggesting a pretty solid relationship with the club, being captain and all. A transfer that didn't actually happen and we don't actually know the whole story for isn't really much of a rebuttal.
