He's played as the only striker twice this season, hasn't he? He's got 4 goals in those 170 mins.
You do know his best season for us was as a no9 right?
Kind of a shame our next game is against City. Doubtful that Moyes will go with Rooney, Mata and Kagawa in the lineup.I reckon he'll go on a goal spree now, it's what he does.
I think Mata and Rooney are definitely going to start as they came off early. Kagawa is a 50-50Kind of a shame our next game is against City. Doubtful that Moyes will go with Rooney, Mata and Kagawa in the lineup.
He's played as a centre-forward a few times, against Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham, Everton, and West Ham. He's looked great in three of those games IMO. He's simply much better playing as a #9.
Agreed. The role minimizes the bad parts in his game and emphasizes the good parts. He's played as a centre-forward a few times, against Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham, Everton, and West Ham. He's looked great in three of those games IMO. He's simply much better playing as a #9.
He's now scored at least 15 goals every season for the club.

From Twitter.
I think I posted that he will break the record in May 2015.
This performance is for people who think he's not good enough to play as our only striker. And the interchanging with Mata and Kagawa has been very good.
Oh and that sort of goal is why we bent over backwards to keep him at this club. Outright 3rd highest scorer in the history of the club as well.
His shooting technique from outside has been incredibly inconsistent for a couple of years now. Re centre-forward role: as @Sixpence said, when he playss in his best position, we get the best out of him. I don't believe he should be playing as a #10 from now until the end of the season. He's had some great games in this position with Fergie, but I don't personally believe he possesses the intelligence of a Mata/Kagawa. I remember the game against Stoke at home earlier this season, where he switched the ball, when we had a 3 v 2 advantage down their right. Or being so fixed to playing passes down the wing, that he didn't look up down the middle to see his partner (Welbeck against Everton for example). However, I don't understand the constant criticism of him playing long balls. Both games against Aston Villa last year, his passes were excellent at isolating our wingers with their full backs (his pass to Valencia started the move for our first goal at home in the 12/13 season). Ultimately though, for now, Moyes has to keep him as a centre-forward. He's been excellent as a centre-forward in every game (bar Everton) this season IMO.Wasn't there talk of how he doesn't score those explosive goals anymore like he used to when he was young? Rooney has had a number of long distance beauties in the last few seasons

He's been poor.
