In Ronaldo's last two seasons we never had a proper number 9, except the odd league match where it was usually Berba put up there.
never thought I'd here that in here. CheersErm no. When you twist everything to suit you, then you clearly have an agenda and this thread has a few of them.
Wasn't aimed at you any rate. You've been one of the more rational posters, strange as it sounds, considering the summer.
Imagine if instead of RVP we'd signed a young CM for the same money. We were always going to win the league last year with or without RVP, and we'd been in a much stronger position now.

The irony.
I've agreed to disagree with people plenty of times in this thread, I don't have a problem with it at all, I've heard some valid arguments. So anyone who doesn't think that Rooney is by far our best player, and those who don't think he deserves 300k contract are now called idiots.
You'll read everything in this thread.
Should we now start banning people who don't agree with Tomalonge, Chabon and few others?

The people spouting bollocks to back up an agenda I do have a problem with though, I also have a problem with people who misquote me deliberately to help their point or accuse me of saying something I haven't even come close to saying. Get your facts straight before you spout your own, I've not requested anyone be banned so stfu.
Anyone's entitled to disagree with me, but the campaign of distraction and revisionist history is getting quite pathetic.

Yeah, how dare he help out in other areas of the pitch instead of staying in one place to please you.
He does do more than most other players though, that's not opinion, that's a fact. I stand by that being a fact and I will carry on doing.Yeah, arguments like those that he covers every blade of grass, you would think he covers 20 miles per game, when in reality he runs like everybody else in our team.
Yep, I said that. I've since said it was a bit of an exaggeration but that's beyond the point. It's an opinion and I presented it as one with the clever use of "probably". It wasn't ever presented as a fact.Says the poster responsible for "without him we'd probably have neen relegated".

Anyone else wanna spout complete crap at me?

Anything else?
I'm noticing you're not picking up on the guy who after hearing me say Rooney has been our most influential player recently claimed I was trying to argue that he was our best ever player?
OH WAIT, of course you're not picking up on that, he agrees with you.

But none of them cover the ground he does though. He's all over doing pretty much most.
Are you going to tell me De Gea or Welbeck do as much work in different parts of the field? They're great players who have been on good form but they don't come close.
I HAVE SAID IT WAS AN EXAGGERATION A FEW TIMES SINCE NOW. I WAS HIGHLIGHTING HOW IMPORTANT ROONEY IS AT THE TIME.Go on then. Insinuating that Manchester United may have been relegated if not for Wayne Rooney is monumentally stupid, there's no "probably" about it.
Come on, you can't say something like that and not expect stick for it. It's bollocks.
Not the tirade of abuse for anyone that dares defend Wayne Rooney?Of course he runs more than defenders and keeper, but in comparision with our midfielders and forwards, I would say he covers about the same amount as others, or you want me to prove that?
I am trying not to read everything from this thread, I just noticed some people like you calling other idiots, that's what bothers me with this thread the most.
Again, something I haven't done.Well...there is this poster called Tomalonge who judges De Gea to a higher standard that Rooney because he doesn't cover the same ground as he does.
David, the answer to our midfield woes.
I HAVE SAID IT WAS AN EXAGGERATION A FEW TIMES SINCE NOW. I WAS HIGHLIGHTING HOW IMPORTANT ROONEY IS AT THE TIME.
HOW IS THIS PART SO DIFFICULT TO GRASP BY PEOPLE?!

Yeah, pretty much what I though you'd say.
Go on then genius.I didn't notice anyone who "doesn't like" Rooney saying that all others who like him are idiots, while I noticed few of you who like him saying that.
I think people do Rooney a great disservice. Even when he isn't on form or fit he covers every blade of grass on the pitch. You can't compare Rooney to anyone in my opinion. He has been Manchester United this season, without him we'd probably have been relegated.
Of course he thought he wanted to leave a few seasons ago and has had a few doubts. But if that really honestly gets you that angry then it's on you. At the end of the day he's been here over a decade, not bad for someone who doesn't give a toss about United.
Idiots.
Was that added after I quoted it? I genuinely missed it, so apologies. And the second part of my post...
Did someone just claim that Rooney doesn't cover more ground than our other strikers? Than Van Persie, for example? Sorry but that's just deluded.

I've said he does more than others, and I stand by that. Maybe I'm not mentioning it as much any more because I don't have anything to add to it?

Not at all. This is pretty much calling everyone who doesn't want him to stay idiot.
Go on then. Who does as much as Rooney?Or because I might prove you wrong?
I don't think anyone said that.

I'm not sure of the statistics, but in fairness, Welbeck mustn't be too far away. He covers a ridiculous amount of ground.
Not at all.

What does that even mean?Only if you call yourself an idiot too if I prove your argument wrong?
...
This thread is getting too surreal for me. I'm out.
Welbeck has a fantastic work rate to be fair.Yeah. Welbeck would probably be up there.
What does that even mean?
I've had some spectacularly strange sentences thrown at me today. If you prove me wrong I will more than likely say "Fair enough, I was wrong", so instead of telling me that you definitely can, why not try actually doing it?
That's still not proving me wrong though.Because if I proved you wrong, by your logic your argument would be stupid, and you would be an idiot too(again, by your logic) because you presented stupid argument which wasn't right in first place.
You not being able understand the exaggeration being purposeful in that statement just shows your brain to be a bollock tbh.
His statement was well beyond what I would consider to be an exaggeration. It was infact, just complete, utter bullshit.
He said it was "a bit of an exaggeration", followed by "It's an opinion and I presented it as one with the clever use of "probably". It wasn't ever presented as a fact."
This suggests to me that the opinion was actually a little more serious than what is now being described.

Are you being serious? Either English isn't your first language or you have no sense of humour.
Again, something I haven't done.
