what does it matter about what a player earns. Its business. The club is run responsibly.... can we get another player of Rooney's ability? If so...how much would we have to pay in transfer fees...not mentioning wages.
Good post, it doesn't really matter what posters like elisha27 think, Rooney will go down as a United legend if he ends his career with us whether they like it or not.
Our club already considers him a United legend anyway.

I hope we put him on an incentive based contract. If not, we could end up looking foolish in a couple of years.
Genuinely hope this 300k a week thing is bullshit.
Are you somehow helping United pay him by any chance?Genuinely hope this 300k a week thing is bullshit.
No one could look foolish signing Rooney.
Alas, we're gambling on this. He may well go back to not being arsed, once he no longer has a new contract to play for. That being said, if we are going to pay any player that sort if money a fit motivated and dedicated Rooney would be one of the few you could at least attempt to justify it for.

I find it hard to believe we would've offered him a pay rise at the end of last season, given his performances. He needed to play well this season to get anything like the terms being suggested.TBF, he was never playing for a contract. WE always wanted him to sign.

It's not just utd, nobody on earth is worth 300000 a week for playing footballI love how, as a fan base, we can concurrently hold the opinion that we don't spend enough on the first team and yet also complain about how much half the squad are paid.

Since when has Rooney not been arsed on the pitch? Unfit maybe, but never not arsed!

At 32, he might be expensive but to have him till then, i.e his prime years, 300k is what we gotta pay.A 32 year old Rooney on 300k, I don't know.
Surely for a professional footballer to be unfit IS not being arsed?Since when has Rooney not been arsed on the pitch? Unfit maybe, but never not arsed!
End of last season. I forget the games in particular but on a few occasions the general consensus here at the time was he did not seem remotely bothered. When was Rooney 'not being arsed'?
He's really only had one sort of bad season in ten years. He's pretty much always one of the most hard working and dedicated players on the pitch. If he signs a new deal we are seriously heading in the right direction by keeping our top stars at their prime whilst buying more in rather than losing them.

Ahh but that was big bad safs fault for not kissing his area enough and playing him while unfit, couldn't possibly be at Wayne's faultEnd of last season. I forget the games in particular but on a few occasions the general consensus here at the time was he did not seem remotely bothered.

There have been more seasons where he has clearly come back after the summer overweight and unfit than where he hasn't, let's not attempt to rewrite history here, it is so much a fact rafa should say it. That is unprofessional, look at giggs, that's how a pro maintains his body during the off season. You a fitness and motivation specialist? Some players find it harder to maintain weight and fitnss and really the only time he was repeatedly unfit was coming back from injuries or the start of the season.
It's enough to make me worry, personally. That at the point he no longer had any real financial incentive to bother for us, as he'd decided he was leaving, the on pitch commitment seemed to fall significantly. That's the one season I referred to. TBF to him, relations with the manager at the time were at an all time low and I'm sure prior to Fergie retiring he was pretty much sure he was going. One spell in ten years considering the circumstances isn't too bad.

There were more than one or two making that excuse during the summer. He is being played out of position, he was dropped for the Madrid game blah blah , he was unfit and finally got treated like everyone else and threw his toys out about it. Don't get me wrong, despite my personal dislike of him, the Rooney of this season has really won me over, I just get frustrated by how many people seem to remember him being like this for his whole ten years here which is clearly bollocksWho's saying that? Pure hyperbole bollocks man.
Yes, and what I'm saying is that is unprofessional. Are you even reading what I'm posting? You said I was attempting to rewrite history by not saying he was unfit in pre-season while quoting a post in which I said...
