Why the feck did he do it though ? It was only the 7th min and at 0-0. I thought the lunatic Rooney was well and truly dead but he still has it in him to act extremely stupidly.

Because he has no brain. Thank God he has great football intelligence, but if he was ever led by his brain, I'd fear for him.

By the rules, it's a red, but honestly I think a yellow card is right there. It was nothing really, and nobody wants to see players getting sent off in the first 10 minutes of the match for something so little. People are always calling for referee's to use common sense, and when they do they get accused of not sticking to the letter of the law.

Bang on. He will never change. I suspect we will get that "oh if you take that out of his game he wouldn't be the same player, blah blah" though. The ref bottled it because of who it was.
He hasn't done it for years you tit. If it's another 3 or 4 years before he does it again I can live with that as long as he keeps producing.

It was stupid but he got away with it.

Carry on

Common sense... Nonsense. It's a red all the time regardless of when.

He barely connected with the player and it clearly wasn't set out to hurt anyone.

I know by the letter of the law it should have been a red, but that would have been a bit harsh on us and the rest of the match.

Oh a lot of people do (the opposition and all the competitors).

But he had a good view. I thought refs were never wrong when they had a good view?
Ref bottled it, if weren't less than 10 minutes into the game he would have been off. Ref will get slated for this, he would have been better ignoring it instead of showing the wrong card.

Inherently, the man is a complete arsehole and that will never, ever change. He will be a moron until the death. Thankfully, the ref bottled it. We would be in big trouble otherwise.

A friend told me that the yellow card can be justified from referee's perspective, so chances are he's not going to miss any game due to his stupidity.

If it had happened to one of our rivals we'd have been distinctly unimpressed, and rightly so. It's a blatant red. Sending Rooney off certainly wouldn't have been harsh on us, it would have been the appropriate punishment for one of our players doing something that stupid. Whether he connected or not doesn't matter in the slightest.

The ref seen it and acted upon it so the FA won't revisit this. However he's a plank for doing it and the ref was quite lenient. I think it was because it was so early in the game that he didn't see red. Very lucky indeed.

You should be able to lash out a bit in football without getting sent off, ref clearly saw that Cowie was tugging and annoying him and decided yellow was enough.

It's a football game, not UFC.

Yep, he's been good. Fair play to Rooney, I had doubts over whether he'd have the right attitude this season after not being allowed to move.

Bizarre decision at the end there, still by far our best player and the only one who actually seems to give a flying feck, even if he is a buffoon.

Imbecile. Says he wants to play up top. Gets a chance dead centre in the box and he doesn't smash it home. Van Persie would've walloped that in.

Lost us the match at the end. Him and Welbeck both.

Absolutely should have taken the shot. Welbeck should have scored earlier too.

Where is the killer instinct? This is why we need Robin Van Persie.

Some of you are undreal blaming Rooney, he was our best player again today, goal and assist, plus a clear assist that Welbeck missed earlier its Moyes who's the stupid twat not Rooney.

It's Moyes fault Rooney didn't shoot there? It's Moyes fault Rooney should have been sent off? Always Moyes fault...

Scored a goal, created a goal, laid on a great chance for Welbeck, drove the team forward and only one who looks like he gives a flying feck. Yes lets all abuse him

Our best player for most of the game, fecked up at the end but it would be daft to be too harsh on him

Absolutely he played terrific right up to the end. That should have been a goal and if he wants to be the "man" then he needs to take it and not pass the fecking buck. RVP would have nailed that fecker. That's the difference. Furious because we should have had the 3 points sewn up in so many ways before the end.

Didn't want to take responsibility at the end there. How is that a sign of someone confident? RVP or Hernandez would have fecking rifled it home. World class my arse.

Can't blame Moyes for Rooney nearly costing us the game before it got going or him missing an absolute sitter costing us 2 points.

Jesus fecking christ! he scored assisted and created in this game yet you blame him for this result? Its Moyes that has turned us into a fecking boring team that's playing awful football.
