Yeah, he was involved in the goal(which was good work btw) and he is great again, let's forget his three rubish performances because he dribbled past two or three players.

He moans about playing in midfield, but he virtually plays there by choice himself anyway in practically every game. Just pick two strikers, tell him they're playing in a three and he'll naturally drop into midfield anyway. Problem solved.

With Hernández, he plays as a second striker (Liverpool, West Brom, and Real Sociedad). But with Van Persie recently, he's played next to him. Interesting.

That was a great dribble, not seen him do it in years! Could have got a goal but we got one anyway!

Well he hasn't dropped so deep the last couple of games but he has tonight so it must be instruction rather than him just happening to be there by chance?

God knows. Rooney's a law unto himself sometimes. However, I also think he reads Hernandez's game better than Van Persie's and knows better what positions to take up when he's paired with the former as opposed to the latter.

Hernandez is an out and out striker. Obvious Rooney would be more likely to drop deeper than if RVP is playing when both will be more flexible.

He's done it for England a shit load of times too. He's mostly concerned with being on the ball. Pick two other strikers and he'll naturally play as a midfielder with a licence to roam forward.

I really want to understand Moyes' tactics. Why didn't you leave Rooney deep vs. Southampton, too? Rooney looks so much sharper. Really delighted for him - he deserves that.

Ah, last season must've been a fluke then.

I'm talking about the combo. Rvp Rooney doesn't work and Rooney Kagawa were brilliant vs Norwich as well and they showed a lot of good interplay again today. Van Persie is brilliant but I just think he doesn't form as good a pairing with Hernandez/Kagawa as Rooney does. The interplay today was a joy to watch really. I'd love to see Jaanuzaj, Nani, Kagawa and Rooney start vs Stoke.

Good interview from Wayne.

Now sign a new contract.

No, you are right they are a good combo, but devaluing van Persie like that seems a bit odd. Rooney with Kagawa in behind is potentially brilliant, but how many times has Kagawa played in behind RVP? It's a great option if rvp isn't fit to play though that's for sure. Some very nice interplay.

Improved performance from Rooney and the same goes for his position on the pitch too [albeit with a reminder from Giggsy lol].

Would be nice if he said "look I'm grateful for everything Saf has done for me he has been brilliant but he was wrong about the transfer request but he was right about my fitness and form and I've addressed that now"

All a bit petty really. Rooney wanted to leave, doesn't make much difference if he didn't write it on a piece of paper or not. He wanted to leave, he can denied it all he wants.

I think the praise he gets after today is unwarranted. He was good, but both Valencia and Kagawa were better. I'd say Rooney was on par with Giggs today. Rooney's problem as a number ten is that he's too direct in that position - too often he plays the first ball instead of waiting for other players, thus resulting in a break against. That happened several times today and has happened a lot this season. He looks physically much better than last season and his play is better, but in that position, it should be no contest that Kagawa makes us play much, much better than Rooney does. The dribble Rooney made for the goal was very good though, and I'm thinking that against Stoke I would like to see Kagawa behind Rooney.

what exactly did he say?

'He's come back & corrected the story that I put a transfer request in ... he's gone back & proven that I didn't'

'I'm happy under the new management, I'm working to get results under David Moyes and that's the main thing for me'

Also said he's not seen Fergie since he became a director and him being a director is not an issue. Says he's happy under Moyes and enjoys working with him. Said he won't take any further issue with anything Fergie has written.

Shreeves was trying to stir something, Rooney handled it very well.

He actually thanked SAF for going back and putting it right in his opinion.
